This video will show you how to install the carpet, seats, and center console in an R56 Mini. This information may also apply to other Mini's of the same vintage.
I removed the seats and carpet from my 2007 Mini Cooper S to dry things out. When I bought the car the window was open and it sat outside for a while. As a result, the interior was dirty and wet and needed to be dried out.
While I had things removed, I thought it would be a good time to also do some detail work on the interior. It's looking, and smelling like a new car inside now.
If you're looking for more detail, see the previous video in this series: • Carpet and Seat Remova...

Never worked on a Mini, likely never will, but I still enjoy the videos. I especially like that you are taking the time to say what tools you are using. It is SO much easier to go do the job, if we know exactly what size sockets, wrenches, etc. to take with us!

Thank you for the interior detail of these two vids. I'll probably not pick up a mini anytime soon, but with this being one of the few of a in-depth how to, I'll be much more confident in tackling the interior of one of my longtime dream cars should the need arise, 240z.

You just did a flood job! Really cool stuff... It's important to know how to perform these jobs, especially when you prefer to buy used vehicles. Luckily in your case the padding was closed cell foam, and not jute... That shit would have to be removed from the carpet, and new jute adhered to the carpet.

Gotta love how Eric says how these cars are cheaply made. I will not argue with him on that. But I can imagine lot of Mini-nerds, here in Europe, getting into rage hearing that these cars are cheaply made! Since, the price tag on these was actually high (for what you actually got).

Elwood Kingmaker the R56 in this video has lots of plastic for sure But not gonna lie, I worked at a MINI dealership and rarely did I see any truly jacked up interiors with pieces falling off like domestic brands, or like a TL we took on trade where the damn steering wheel had peeling! The Mrs. next door has one of these and drives like a maniac hogging the road on the curves. We have to get out of the way like she's driving the biggest car in the neighborhood. I'd buy an S2000 if I'm actually going to own a modern driver's car not the least of which reason that I can actually afford it. One thing I like about the Mini a lot better though are those gauges!

However I still find the information useful in the greater picture. I feel more confident working on my 02 3.4l Impala having seen a similar process. When I do re-carpet my ride I'll think back to the steps you took. Been watching since you had that shoe box of a garage and a bitchin ponytail, thanks again for the years of service!

He said the window was open on this one, but if you have an R56 (or R55) with the pano sunroof, the sunroof drains are a common culprit. I'm watching this video because I need to remove/dry/reinstall the carpet in my car dud to that damn sunroof drain. Also common for the sunroof drain to leak right onto an electrical module in the kick panel that controls a number of functions, including lights, turn signals, windows, etc. It's called the FRM, and it is expensive to replace, as I have found out.
