Maybe I'm too ignorant, but I really can't wrap my head around how this happened exactly 12 000 years ago. We have all these writings on walls, on cuneiforms that date back to no more than 3000 - 3500 BC. There's absolutely no writing, nothing from which we can tell for sure it happened earlier than 3500 BC. Absolutely no evidence, nothing that says it happened earlier. People say there were just local floods, but almost every mythology around the world has a myth/legend about a flood that actually covered all the Earth. Not to mention all the sea life fossils in places like the Andes from South America, Canyon from USA, mountains from Canada or Himalaya, which is literally the top of the world.
