I always thought Ten Hag wouldve been Man City manager after Pep eventually takes his sabbatical. The players City have more suits Ten Hag's style of play than at Man United so it is a bit strange to see him go there, however Man United is under rebuild so i could kinda see why.

Great video. There are a lot of current united players that do not fit this system. De gea for one is not a sweeper goalkeeper and his distribution is quite poor. Mcfred and wan bissaka too will suffer in this formation. Ten hag has a lot of work to do and I think he should be given time and money to do just that.

luke shaw, bruno, sancho, ronnie, maguire do fir quite well imo maguire only if they have a quick cb with him but maguire''s progression is really helpful also i think de gea would finally evolve in his peak form now playing in a defensive structure for 6 years limited him hope he does well too need a lb ig dalot might work but we need the cdm and a good no.8 also rashford and shaw linkup is gonna be lit as usual

The tactics is explained very well, but he also touch on player attributes which is key, united in its current state ranks near the bottom of the running stats, Ronaldo is a great goals scorer but he might be a constraint in defense, wingback aren’t comfortable/composed on the ball to invert and play as midfielders fitness and tactical discipline must also be greatly improved. Top Epl team’s tradition from defense to attack in a split second and leaving two midfielders behind 5 advanced attackers will be problematic unless you have Kante and Rice sitting in there. Everyone on this forum can manage United on paper but you still need to legs and the intelligence to execute.

Gravenberch is just a old fashioned misspelling of Gravenberg. In modern as well as middle Netherdutch 'g' and 'ch' have the same sound. But they have different origins. The 'g' comes from the hard 'g' that High German and English still have for example. While the 'ch' has sounded that way for at least 2000 years, although probably softer and more towards an 'h' the further back you go. You still have this sound as well in High German. Example: Lachen. So in short. Gravenberch sounds like Chravenberch to you. And it means exactly what it would in High German (Grafenberg).

The only concern I have is that Ten Hag is a possession based manager. He's going to go up again teams that have played that way for years, so they should be masters of that style. How do you out Pep, Pep. Or out Klopp, Klopp?. And frankly for me, I'm kind of bored with possession based football because everyone does it or tries to do it. It's like the latest dance craze. After awhile you want a new dance. Seeing teams hold on to the ball and take 15-20 passes can be tedious. The one thing I do see that Ten Hag does different from City and Liverpool is that he does use different formations. 4-3-3, 4-4-2 diamond and 4-2-3-1. Whereby City and Liverpool stick to 4-3-3 most all the time. Great Managers work with the personnel they have and find tactics and systems to get the best out of them. United were built to be a counter attacking team for the most part. Fernandes was brought in to be a 10 and with an eye for a goal and a pass forward to runners or space. That's not possession based. To me all the possession is worthless unless you score goals. Shots on goal and on target is more important that possession. Team routinely have high possession and don't score. Brighton is the biggest example. Potter plays possession based football but Brighton has no goal scorers so they end up give a good account of themselves against anybody but with a lot a draws. Say what you will about OGS' United but they did play different than the top teams. Since they didn't play tiki taka or gengenpresa possession trapping football, lazy Pundit accused them of having no style and having no idea what they were doing. What United were doing is playing differently than possession based high pressing football. That's all. Good luck to Ten Hag and maybe he can out Pep, Pep someday.

De Gea is a great shot stopper, but not a ball player. Maguire got to leave. Varane can fit the plan if he gets a leader alongside. Dalot is good, but sell Wan Bissaka. Shaw and Telles, both are good. Donny needs to play. Fred will perform better with better spirit among teammates, so more man management required. McTominay needs to do better. Bruno needs his confidence back. Sancho, Elanga and CR7 start.
