After 3 Years I Start Working Inside The Log Cabin

When I graduated high school in Sweden I sought a big challenge in life. To alone, with only simple hand tools and raw power, build my own traditional off grid log cabin by hand from the materials of the Swedish forest. Now after 3 years I have built the log cabin but there are still a LOT of things left to do. In this video I built my table for the log cabin with no nails or screws using only hand tools. I am now working on the interior for the log cabin. Next video will be the open fireplace build, that is a huge project.
If you wish to follow me on this journey, from forest to rustic off grid log cabin, then SUBSCRIBE!!
The clothes I am wearing are from the Swedish brand Revolution Race.

Out of literally every single thing I watch on KZfaq, this project of yours is my favourite. I particularly enjoy how there's no music, no narration, it's just the sound of the tools at work. Love it!

@Erik_Watkins
@Erik_Watkins Жыл бұрын
I'm sure you get lots of free (and undesired) advice but I thought I'd add mine to the mix! When making dowels, it's ofter better to do a couple or a few holes that get progressively smaller, that way you burnish/compress the fibers of the wood more and get a stronger dowel with a better finish in the end. I would also recomend figuring out a better way to immobilise your worpiece for the mortises and practicing sharpening your tools more. Both of these things will make it easier and safer to work with chisels. No matter how fancy your tools are, if you can't make them sharp, they won't cut! Love the video and the table still turned out fantastic!

Been watching these videos for years. The extraordinary craftsmanship aside, the story telling in your videography is really great. You told the story of the table really beautifully---slowly and patiently at the beginning, and then speeding up towards the end. Really well shot, well paced, and well edited. Great work.

Well done Eric. You have and are doing what I always wished. I've passed that time in my life now though and don't necessarily regret it but still have a wish for it. Through you, I and many others are able to experience the journey without the pain and sweat you have incurred and I am forever grateful that you take the time to capture it and bring us along. Keep up the great work young fella and thanks for sharing.

Are you gonna ever make a video explaining how this all happened, the planning, the things you had to learn, etc. I want to do something similar to this and it would be helpful to know your experience

All of his videos have a description that go into some of those details, I speculate that he enjoys not over explaining and keeping it simple...maybe there are interviews on other platforms that he has done that might go into that.

I could watch you do this all day. The time, dedication, and care you put into your projects really pays off with something original and beautiful. I also can’t get enough of your cinematography style. No music, no words, just the sweet sound of tools and hands at work. You’re a fantastic jack of all trades

You use a straight piece of steel with a hole to make your own dowels and I bought a dowel maker from Veritas and it takes a drill and saws to just get the wood close to your hammering a square peg into a round hole. Genius. The time it saves. You don't use "modern power tools" and yet you achieve a better PRODUCT.
