Жыл бұрынUsing a combination of rough cut pine, walnut and birch and tongue and groove cedar, I build a bookcase wall to separate the living room from the bathroom and an end table to support a lamp, books, card games...
With cold February temperatures testing the comfort of the off grid log cabin, the wood stove proves to be up to the task of heating the space and the mass of the logs retains it well, with morning temperatures in the cabin remaining quite warm.

I gotta tell you Shawn. You really put your all into this cabin. It’s way better than the last one. I just knew despite the problem with the neighbor, you were being guided to bigger, better and more Shawn-ish arrangements. The lord works in mysterious ways. Well done.

I was just thinking, how free and creative we can be without nosy, interfering neighbours. I am putting up with sensor lights shining over my fence every time I walk outside, or having my gardening work noted and approved or disapproved . Pity. No choice but to move to a better place.😊

Agreed, I watched his homestead build like 4yrs and said good for him, you have everything you could want or need right there! 🤣 Fast-forward and he's done at least 3 more full home builds!! This guy is amazing to watch and learn from. I'm 20yrs younger than him and don't have half the ambition and/or drive!!

I was fortunate to find your channel early on, when you started with the first cabin, when you began to add rooms onto it I thought you might be dreaming about how you might do it again if you ever got the chance, - knowing all the things you learnt building it , then a development forced you to do exactly that - move and begin again - and now, after a huge effort you have a true home to live and grow, family included if needs-be, it`s a testament to the person you are Shawn, I admire you and what you have created, I look forward to new episodes as I`m unable to get out as often as I`d like to..

@Lip Ripper I’m pretty sure that Cali is a very happy and contented dog, she is well loved. She loves the outdoors and she does not need climate controlled when she wears a fur coat. From what I can gather in watching Cali & other video dogs; they comprehend their 'dad'/'mom' is always speaking to someone other than them and that someone is inside that contraption dad Shawn is always talking to. Also, if the dog gets close enough they can see the image of moving people or a dog IN that little thing. So, my guess is they think it's real people in the camera. Get really science-fiction-y & it's like they are looking into a portal. It explains the uncanny way Cali looks directly into the camera for confirmation or assistance. It's pretty amazing watching how Cali, girl in the woods & bushradical's Maisy and other youtuber's babies respond to the camera similarly. It's a whole new aspect of communication brought about as a result of the vlogging world. I really hope an expert on behavior eventually does a deep dive, as this is really quite fascinating. I get such immense pleasure & relaxation out of Shawn's endless builds. The compound is pretty awesome.

Love the bookcase wall! I built three floor-to-ceiling bookcases in my place when I first moved in. Best idea I had. You can never have too many bookcases, or too many books. 😸 Of course Callie is polite! She's a Canadian dog! At some point, can you do a short video showing all the stars you see at night? Where I am there's so much light pollution I can barely see the moon. 😿

It's always fun to think about which part of your videos are my favorite...but it's SO hard to do! Books are my favorite "possession," because they bring so much joy so that huge bookcase is everything. As a city girl, longing for the country living of my childhood, my very favorite tonight was seeing all of the beautiful stars in the sky. I'm lucky to see the moon and three or four of the very brightest planets. Shawn, if you made a 45 minute video of the night sky with audio of a woodburning fire, I would watch it on repeat to relax. The view about the trees was stunning. Thank you! And Cali❤️

I live in a log cabin in Wisconsin. I have my over size leather chair directly in front of my Soap Stone wood stove. Nothing more relaxing than to set and watch the fire burn when it below zero or in the middle of a big snow storm and having a nice hot cup of coffee with my Newfoundland dog curled up near by!. Your set up in front of your stove is awesome. I know you and your best friend will spend many memorable hours enjoying the warmth and companionship!!! A great job of making your cabin so homey!!!!

Cali is so smart, such a trip! The shoe was classic, lol When are you getting her a mini me? Should now, that way she can help train up the new one. It's amazing how in tune our animals get with us when it's one on one. I am a loner by choice, but I've had this crazy cat for almost 20 years now. He's now toothless, getting old. Not sure who has trained whom, but I now know exactly when he's whining for his food, fresh water, (not that stuff that's been sitting, Mom. Cold stuff fresh out of the faucet) and Heaven forbid I get yelled at for not cleaning the litter box. I used to own shepherds, just too old to keep up with a dog anymore. Cudos for raising Cali to be such an amazing dog!

Waw cabane solide, grande et confortable. Si je n'ai pas vu les sanitaires, il faudra les réaliser une petite pièce . Pas besoin de baignoire classique, un bassin, un endroit où faire chauffer l'eau et un conduit pour déverser l'eau vers l'extérieur. Super le coin bibliothèque avec le tapis par terre . Je suis toute ouïe et je me suis vue dans cette cabane si belle et chaleureuse 🤩 . Je viens juste de découvrir votre chaîne. Merci d'avoir partagé votre une petite partie de votre mode de vie . Super 👍
