A brand does not have to sell products or services. There have been strong brands in the non-profit space such as "Rock The Vote", and "Vote or Die". In these brands instead of selling something, there was a call to action.

Yes, non-profits exist to help others, out of a sense of calling and purpose, but 6sols is right. She's trying to help us make money. She's speaking on the business part, rather than the call to action part. The operational side rather than the purpose side.

@@jasongates- Non-profits or not for profits are a business! The branding they promote is to help them raise money to increase visibility for that particular call to action. My goodness people think broader! Erin's intention was most likely to focus in a specific area, but the concept of branding in and of itself is much broader. I know this from working in the non-profit space for over twenty years. And that's the facts!

As a new business owner, I find this video extremely helpful. I am doing much of the back end work, but it is good to know that I should have a clear distinction between my brand and my business. I think that because I have allowed them to coexist as one thus far, I need to be mindful of making some separation moving forward. Thanks for the awesome video.

Yes! When I started my first business I wasn't clear on the difference. I kept saying I'm building my brand but I was building a business. I had to go back and build my brand and that actually elevated my business.
