Erling Haaland is 'INCOMPARABLE' to Lionel Messi - Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola refused to compare Erling Haaland's attention to that of Lionel Messi, and insisted the team do not envy his dominance in the media.
Haaland has taken the Premier League by storm since moving from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester in June, scoring a staggering 14 league goals in just eight games so far.
The Norwegian became the first player to score three consecutive home hat-tricks in the league, with City hosting Southampton on Saturday.
Guardiola said the 22-year-old will enjoy a holiday during the World Cup in November and December, and rubbished any comparison to the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, Messi.

There will be someone. Before Messi (and Cristiano) arrived there was a feeling that the age of ultra-dominant players like Maradona and Pele is a thing of the past and cannot be done in modern, scientific football with advanced defensive analytics and tactics. Then Messi (and Cristiano) arrived and suddenly you have a magician on the field with crazy output and consistency game after game, year after year, opponent after opponent, in the highest levels against the best defenders.

When guardiola tells you haaland is not "Comparable" to Messi he is not just saying it because he is not coaching messi again or he doesn't like haaland the same way he likes Messi but he have coached Messi while he is young just like he is coaching haaland now that he is young so he have seen the difference. We shouldn't forget that Guardiola is one of the best coaches in the world so his analysis of players, his reading the "game" and winning matches is excellent. Haaland belongs to the generation of players called "Finishers" while "Messi" belong to the generation of players called "Playmakers, dribblers, creators of chances, Scorers, haaland is not close to those qualities

Cristiano, Haaland, Lewandowski are different compared to Messi.. They are basically some of the best strikers. Messi is a complete footballer. There are very few players like Messi Like Cruyff, Ziko, Socrates, Garrincha, Platini, Xavi, Iniesta, Ryan Giggs, Zizinhio, Zidane, Ronaldinho, were all complete footballers but their stats were only good enough compared with Messi's. And almost none like Messi in terms of his stats. Similarly today we have KBD, Modric but they can never have stats like Messi has.. So Messi is a combination of world's best Footballer with best of stats, awards trophies. Which makes him a complete footballer. Add to this huge list his humble nature & decency throughout his career (although it's a personal trait, but still it counts somewhere or the other) Which is a full package. Messi is thus considered the GOAT.

I follow EPL for 30 years. In England we always hype up the epl. The epl is made of 70% foreigners coming from Europe. Players coming from so called farmer's league!anyone who says a prime Lionel Messi can't doit in EPL , is truelly blind and really know nothing about football. Do people really think he can't come into a man city team that plays tiki taka and not succeed!? These are the same people that said pep style of football won't work in EPL. Now we are seeing a total domination of his Barcelona style football in EPL for the last 5 years. Messi, xavi and iniesta was the epitome of that style! Cruyff was an underrated goalscorer, he scored over 400 goals as a midfielder. He’s also one of the few players to have a season where he scored more goals than games (25 goals in 23 games), and is the only player to have a season with at least 30 goals and still have more assists than goals.

I just wanted to point out that Haaland doesnt need "all this support like in Man City" as he scored alot of goals with every team. Messi had Xavi/Iniesta in his prime when he was scoring 50 goals in a season. You always need support of your teammates.

@@dietasse24 Well when Halland did that with other teams it was in far lesser leagues like Bundesliga & the Norway's league and he had a support in Dortmund playing next to many stars such as Reus & Sancho just to name a few, while Messi did what Halland did & far more in La Liga & UCL for around 15 years even while carrying a dead ass Barcelona since a decade now as we saw in 2019 when he scored 50 goals with a pathetic Barcelona which he completely carried everywhere and without Xavi & Iniesta while playing far better than Halland ever did & will ever do as Halland simply is as talented as Messi not even close & nobody is.

Haaland and Messi are incomparable in the sense they play completely different football. Messi is a dribbler and Haaland is a roomer. Haaland makes the room so that dribbling is insufficient and inefficient. Haaland's movement without the ball makes the defenders spread out so that risky dribbling is avoided. Haaland plays modern football everybody else will have to copy or be left behind.

I'm a pure Ronaldo fan... But you can't compare Messi to Haaland. He will never be that good. I can't even see Haaland Dribbling past 2 players or scoring 91 goals in a year.
