We caught her in Peralada, Catalunya a few days ago. I was quite unprepared for what was about to hit us in what was a very good production. It was almost as if Puccini had written the role for her, I wish he had been there - he certainly was in spirit. Put it this way, I have never seen, or been part of, a three or four minute standing ovation in any of the many superb operas I have been to for one singer. Butterfly is the soprano's domain, and she made it her own, with a very good cast to support her. A few days later I still can't get it out of my head. Thank you Ermonela.

Touching interpretation, very moving. Excellent depiction of Cio Cio San's extremely fragile emotional & mental state, while at the same time rendering terrific technical ability.

Incomparable- Ermonela's high strung emotion is palpable. She is peerless in this role.

I saw this live at the Royal Opera House London a month ago and it has left a huge impression - and here she is doing it all over again - just as superbly - was that even a tear I saw at the end. To conjure up this sort of emotion must be emotionally debilitating every night. This is not so much watching opera, more like being abducted by it.

After listening to Gheorghiu sing un bel di many times, I never thought I would live to see a better version, but Ms. Jaho actually delivers a better one, better acted as well. I think I've never seen a soprano cry after an aria. Great performance.

Yeah I watched it again in a different place, and I kept having to remind myself... just because Jaho did so spectacularly well the first time I ever saw Madama Butterfly does not mean this girl is doing it wrong... she’s just doing it differently.... and then I kept wanting it to be Jaho. Sorry, I know it’s not PC but just look at her! She’s incredible!

Excellent singing, but I must say even better musicality and expressivity! That is artistry. Ermonela Jaho feels each word and note and conveys the right mood, color and phrasing. Besides that, she has a very vibrant, interesting timbre with a sense of vulnerability that fits Cio-Cio-San very well, especially when her voice opens up at the top with so much clarity and fullness.

I have seen some excellent Burrerfiles in my time and many a brilliant soprano. I know many of the great recordings. We were lucky enough to get to the Peralada Festival performance this year. I have never seen/heard a soprano as good as her. How do you get better than 'Un Bel Di'?, which had 3000 people applauding. Well she did, ably supported by Gemma Como-Alabert's Suzuki, she simply tore the place apart. I have been in many an opera house, but I have never been part of a three minute standing ovation for a single artist before. Renato Bruson in Italy perhaps. But you know these Italians!

Final top note in grossly sharp. I guess no one else noticed. Drama is good, but singing on pitch is essential, at least that's what my voice teachers insisted upon.
