Considering that the composer Nicholas Brodszky was born in Odessa in 1905, and Horowitz in Kyiv in 1903 - and that they both were in the UK in the 1930s, it is entirely possible they knew each other.

The song was released in 1950 and featured in the movie “The Toast of New Orleans”. Lawrence P. Dermer was born in 1962, actually the composer is Nicholas Brodszky and the original title is “Be My Love”.

I think this song is called Be My Love. Look it up being played by Barry Harris. It sounds almost the same.
