Well, it was the first time I watched the NS of Ukraine this year and Siren Song was really the best among other songs. Maruv can sing, this song just does not require strong vocal techniques and so on. Some vocal coachers say that this is sub tone, which is not easy to sing as well. Maruv's great advantage is that she makes people look at her every second, because she feels so free and she absolutely owns the stage. I did not mention any excitement when she was performing, so it was like she did not care at all and she did not think about winning.

Well, siren song is not about vocals, it's about performance :)

I can't stop watching the performance, the music video, just listening to this amazing song! I love it so much xD So sad for Maruv :( I wish her the best and hopefully we'll get to have her on the Eurovision stage in the future ♥

Considering how incredible all the choices at Vidbir were this year, it's such a shame that Ukraine won't even be competing. I remember listening to the finalists songs and thinking that they could send pretty much any of them and comfortably get a top 10 finish. It's definitely left a gap in the competition for others to benefit from.

It is all about the staging. I really don't care about the song or the lyrics or vocals, because I am so busy being mesmerized by her stage presence 😍😍😍. Also the music is dope. Can't stop listening to this.

Thank you for understanding! Eurovision fans are often quickly to judge us for involving politics into the contest. But we cannot ignore it. Maybe Eurovision isn't about politics, but it is for sure about representing the country. And I totally agree about the songs. Somehow many people liked it, and it's catchy, but I personally think it is weak in vocals.

I can't wait for your reactions to the second semifinal. It is absolutely PACKED with good songs and will be a great big bloodbath.

The original version had the tone the pitched down and she raised the pitch for the NF final performance. You should also check out the Vidbir SF1 performance! I do prefer that over this one but both are iconic performances!

Thank you for reacting to Ukraine. This was one of my favourites and she definitely would have done very well with this. I hope Ukraine cleans up its qualification process next year and stops asking stupid questions of the participants to test their loyalty to Ukraine. They gave Maruv an impossible contract where she was not allowed to improvise on stage, if she had of done they were going to fine her €2million, she had to pay for the trip to Tel Aviv herself and had to cancel all her appearances in Russia so good for her she turned it and so did the 2nd and 3rd place singers as well. Jamala has gone down in my estimations of her, the way she spoke to Maruv and the other singers in the final was pretty low.

Thanks for this reaction Jake. It does grow on you with repeat listens. I do think the vocal needed to be strengthened and I think the last third of the song is a little messy for me. However I love the horns and the music and the presentation and the concept. I think this would have finishedin the Top 5 so it’s a pity that it’s not going to eurovision

Hey Jake! Noticed you loved Petra Mede, have you seen her act in Eurovision 2013 "Swedish smorgasbord"? That really cemented her as the most loved host in Eurovision. Check it out. Btw, you should also tune in to "Lynda Woodruff" A spoof of journalists not getting it right. A Swedish great singer and performer did this as a small skit in the Swedish trials a couple of years ago and has now grown so much that people knows Lynda more then Sarah Dawn Finer who plays her (btw, check out anything with Sarah singing, you will love it). She can sing and sings good. She took a part in different competition.This is her style of singing, that suits to her songs.

Wow, finally a review that isn't completely gushing over this entry. The song is catchy and the staging is fun and provocative, but I think people had overrated it from the get-go. I have nothing against a purposely sexualized performance, the performance definitely sells the song that's for sure, but without the imagery that the performance brings to this song, it wouldn't be considered all that special. Had it gone on to Eurovision I think it probably would have done really well, possibly even win, but I'm not sure if it would have been for the right reasons.

Btw, yes I share the same view with you about the vocal (finally someone else who looks into the vocal as well, not just the beat and stage performance), it sounded like she barely sang to me. My 4/6 in the final (my winner was KAZKA) That being said, I do love the stage performance more here than in Vidbir SF1 (that would've gotten her in trouble in Final lol). I still, to this day, April 6th, can't comprehend how this entry, that I'm 100% sure would've ended second after The Netherlands or even first, is not part of Eurovision 2019. And Jamala, one of the few recent winners that didn't have a typical pop song, has lost all respect from pretty much everyone. HOW can she ask something like that being herself PART OF THE DAMN JURY??? That's very violent. Anyway, Maruv dropped Siren Song's official video 20 hours ago so, everyone, go watch it. You should react to Albania's Feel the Pasion Aurela Gace 2011.She didn't qualify but still remains one of the strongest performances ever. It's a performance that needs your reaction!!

This is the first reaction that coincides with my opinion. I also think that Maruv showed a rather specific show, but did not sing a song. And Eurovision is a song contest above all. I am glad that she did not go to the competition last year. We have a lot of talents and there is something to show the world without bare asses (although I am not against asses, but preferably singing))) And let this ass go to Russia, which she considers her brother and not the aggressor. Thank you! At least someone said something about the vocal (the laсk of it). There's nothing much to song either. Like, it's all about "look how hot I am" and that's it. It's way too shallow in my opinion. And I have to say, no one in my close circle likes it, so I'm not alone. It's kinda sad that we won't be participating, but I'm glad this "song" won't be a part of our history on Eurovision. There, I said it. It's totally a shame but I hope to see Maruv in Eurovision in the future.

First of all, MARUV was my winner for Eurovision 2019. She’s obviously a performer, and a great one at that. Politics aside, and this is the last time I’ll say it, Ukraine pulling all of their political schtick, have robbed themselves of what would’ve been one of their best placings ever or even their third win. This song won Vidbir for a reason and many of us in the fandom are very sad she won’t be representing Ukraine or that Ukraine won’t even be in Tel Aviv. On a second note, I feel as if the judges and producers pulled the super random “We can keep you from going to Eurovision even though you’ve won this entire preselection and therefore the right to represent us on the international stage” card (along with MARUV winning the tele-vote and coming second with the jury) due to her performance being a little too risqué. Granted, Ukraine sent Svetlana Loboda in 2009 who had a pretty damn risqué performance. I don’t know what else to say other than Ukraine let politics dictate the end of this very tumultuous decade for them. Here’s to 2020 and seeing what’s next for Ukraine.

First of all to all who said about hers too sexual and even pornography dance - YOU are clearly not dancers, so shut it please. Secondly her song is called SIREN SONG, so those who do not have basic level of knowledge (mean about sirens) again please shut it. Thirdly, about dancing again, it is perfect for this song, she represents a SIREN which means that her choice of dancing style ( which calls HIGH HEELS) is absolutely fits the song. Also everyone who think this is way tooo sexual either unfamiliar with that style ( its easily could’ve been a lot more “provocative”) either never saw Niki Minaj (both more likely). She did good enough. And some about “too repetitive song” AGAIN you people clearly now NOTHING about sirens. AND, yes, they were sexy, BUT it is not how they showed themselves, they owned that stage and were Strong women who demanded more love, the kind they deserve. It’s like they showed what you will lose if you won’t give them what they need. P.S. Ukrainian, historian and dancer (not only but also in this particular style).

Regardless whether someone likes the song or not, what happened in Ukraine this year was a scandal ! Jamala has lost all my respect. 😡 I personally think EBU should have intervened since juries' behavior and Maruv's "contract" completely undermine any democracy and unity within the contest but I guess they do not have the right to do so.
