I nearly started crying watching this again. Definetly teared up. This interval act alone symbolically puts Eurovision as an entity into a whole. Favourite interval act ever to be honest. I remember seeing it watching the 2010 contest, it brought such an amazing vibe/energy, I danced around along as well until I was breathless and it was just magical and every time it brings be back. I'll never forget this haha. I'm pretty sure this was what made me fall in love with Eurovision.

It might seem strange, but that flashmob makes me cry every time I watch it, because it is so important to remember that we are all the same, no matter what country we are from. They did such a great job of showing that we are all united.

Gosh, this brings back memories! As to the how: the Norwegian producers got the idea, then contacted the artistes and asked for a song with a certain speed/beat. Then they got dance choreographers to choreograph a dance suitable for a flash mob but that people could dance in their living rooms, then they uploaded videos months before onto KZfaq. And it went viral among dance schools ans ESC fans. I remember practicing it with my 6 and 4 year olds.

Every single time I watch this I have goosebumps and someone is cutting onions. Every. Single. Time! How they did it logistically: They studied the dance pre show with the audience and of course there were "professional" dancers in the arena. Most of the footage from all over Europe was pre-recorded.
@leahfield86126 жыл бұрын
Marc Exner The footage of Hamburg, Germany was shown live though. They always have a huge Eurovision party over there, and they managed to include the live pictures on point, which makes it even more impressive!

Yes, of course the dancing in the arena was live, also was the footage from Reeperbahn, Hamburg. But everything else was pre-recorded. The Glow-Dance became some kind of tradition in the following years. I was at the Reeperbahn in 2014 and we did the dance.

the beauty of this was that it was all done live at the same time, which was quite an undertaking. All the cities were live as we saw them and all the family/group home views were as they came, not prerecorded. A couple of notes, The Ukraine "home" scene was Verka Serduchka & her Mother. The other note, HRH person is the crown princess and her children (remember, Norway is a monarchy of sorts.). That guy in the North Sea is just some tongue & cheek fun.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am so happy that finally you got to see the - imo - most beautiful and uniting moment in Eurovision history ❤️ Europe dancing together, this was when I fell in love with it! Most times the host country just puts last years winner or another artist on the stage to fill time during the voting process (and they deserve it, don't get me wrong), but Norway planned this huge project, contacted all the other broadcasters in advance, shot all the material and even managed to include that live shot from Hamburg where the crowd was watching together right in that moment. I also like the living room shots, cause they reflect the typical tradition of watching together with your family and/or friends. The song was played a lot all over Europe the following summer and always gave me goosebumps because of this memory! This was a masterpiece by the Norwegian broadcaster and something that hasn't been done before or afterwards again!

2010 didn't have that many good songs in my opinion - the only songs i still listen to are the german and swedish song.. But when that's being said i wanna say that 2010 was a really special year for several reasons - After Russia's propaganda show in 2009 where they blew it completely out of proportions, it was SOO refreshing to see how the Norwegian broadcaster showed they could still make a great contest with a simple show and stagedesign - In stead of showcasing themselves as a "great nation" they focused more on what eurovision is about, bringing all these people and nations together, which laid the foundation for the development of the contest in the following years - and then Germany ended up winning with such a simple song, which no one thought possible, and it was the final prove that Western Europe has just as much a chance to win after many years with eastern dominance :)

Oh I miss such moments at modern ESC, it has been already 8 years... Btw, answering to your logistical doubts: well, all the European broadcasters communicate and that is why we have the ESC at the first place, so obviously it was not so easy to organize something like that, but it showed once more that when people put their effort, everything is possible.
