Already listened when it came out, but I love the energy you and your co-hosts/friends have on each episode - I’ve been keeping up to date with the podcast every week! I have a blast listening to it while drawing. Thanks for all the hard work in keeping us entertained, Tony, whether it’s this, vlogs, One Movie Later or anything you do. It means a lot to me and your fans.

When you guys were talking about Milt Khal it made me realize something: The two notable people who were mentored by him (Brad Bird and Richard Williams) ended up being both known as perfectionists in the industry. If you watch any behind the scenes documentary on any of Bird’s movies one of things that will without fail come into focus is how he pushes his animators to get the absolute most out of single scene. And anyone familiar with Richard Williams can tell you about his particular case of perfectionism e.i. the longest production for an animated film e.i. The Thief and The Cobbler.

Best scene in the movie is them discussing the end of Jungle Book like this: We changed the end to have this girl sort of innocently seduce Mowgli back to the man village. Awkward pause. You could have worded that differently.

Me listening to this guy talk at 47:40 about how 3D animation is "pushing buttons," as I was dragging my tablet pen over my screen to pose and move a 3D character I was animating.... while thinking about the 3D character sculpt I still have to make, which I make by sculpting digital "clay" with a tablet pen.... on a screen that acts like paper... ...yeah sure "pushing buttons." And 2D drawing is just "rubbing a stick on a dead tree skin."

Fair enough. I apologize if I came off as derisive, I was just trying to make a point about how, before computers existed, animators had to do everything strictly by hand with no digital assistance whatsoever. Not saying that invalidates 3D animation, it's just a big part of what makes them two different things.

I enjoyed this podcast episode, I listened while cleaning the kitchen and just want to say I really appreciate it. Also your discussions are like my guide into these Disney things, history, facts, and behind the scenes stuff. Thank you 🙏 also agree about the traditional animation, Disney needs to try it again.

Great podcast! You guys should review the documentary “Waking Sleeping Beauty”, it’s one of my favorite documentaries ever. Really shows how impactful the Disney renaissance of the 90s really was. Edit: Just realized it’s briefly mentioned it lol

Smart House is iconic for me because i didn't have The Disney Channel in my town until i was like in 4th grade and i remember it was a huge deal at elementary school that it was getting added to everyones cable lmao. that first night i watched it, they played smart house and it blew my mind.

@@derekbrenner103 It opened at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida. It won't open at Mickey's Toontown in Anaheim until 2022 or so. No plans to cover it but maybe someday.
