@Ken narville Bruh.. escargot is no more disgusting than eating shrimp. Shrimp are the roaches of the sea...objectively filthy bottom feeders yet the Western world eat tons of it yearly. Broiled, boiled, stir fryed...crunch crunch. Ignorance is bliss. Get over yourself 😂

In The Philippines we have our own version and we call it "Ginataang Kuhol" or "Snail 🐌 in cooked Coconut Milk". First we washed the snails inside a basin with water, then we heat the cooking oil, then we stir fry the chopped onion, then we put the chopped garlic, then we put the chopped ginger, then we put the washed snails, then the salt and pepper to taste. After several minutes we put the coconut milk. Then we add some water. After it boiled we put green leaves of malunggay.

Unfortunately here in California, (yes I had to come back for personal reasons) I have eaten at the very best restaurants here and none of them know how to, or just don't want to prepare escargot correctly. In this video I remember years ago when I worked in a FRENCH restaurant called Les Escargot and the EXECUTIVE CHEF was DANIEL DUFORT and he introduced me to Escargots 3 different ways and I also remember going to Miami and they love them and a couple of years later I got the recipe from my sister who is a nurse and it some time to get used to them and I know where to buy them at a retail store and they are actually very easy and cheap to make and you should see what FRENCH restaurants charge and I can make them at a fraction of the cost but it's not for anyone like eating PATE or FOIE GRAS very expensive but I know how to make them and if you go to a gourmet store you will find out as I have had to make these items but you better know what you are doing as I am French trained under 4 chef's and they taught me well

I love these things, and this is exactly how I love them. Never made them at home, though. I have to find a store that carries them (I’m in Florida and I hear Asian markets sell them), but I wouldn’t bother with the shells. For those of you who don’t know, you’ll find many snails sold unshelled (yes, they’re dead), and people buy the shells for presentation, and reuse them. Instead, they sell little plates with holes in them to hold the snail and other ingredients. Much easier.

I am in the USA and I love the escargot that have been prepared for me. I have now attempted to make it myself once, based on KZfaq recipes/videos, but the flavor was quite bland. I THINK part of the problem was the store bought typical unsalted butter that I used. Can anyone please tell me if I should be using a "special" type of butter for escargot?

Here in France, it's not a real Christmas Eve or New Years Eve without escargots. If you'd let me I'd eat the whole plate. And I'm not even Burgundian, I'm from Provence

are the shells reusable?

Yes, in theory, but if purchasing fresh escargot they will always come with their shells. The shell gets a bit brittle with baking, but it's possible to reuse with canned escargot (no shell).

we use to do that in greece too, although wendon't tend to use the same ingredients always (for example, you may sometimes find them fried with olive oil and herbs instead of being cooked in garlic butter.) merde, has it really been a long time since i last ate snails.

We also eat different types of snails here, but that is not a delicacy it's out of necessity as there is a shortage of food items at different times of the year.
