Gr8 review! Coming from a ch that seems to have primarily showcased folders,it’s a home run going after a ESSE. I only own less then a handful of folders. I carry a fixed blade daily and my folder,I keep going after my rat2 just cause it’s the thin stock and behind edge I need for cutting rope,mail opening,loose threads be gone needs. I bought my 1st fixed blade going on 6yrs ago and from the crowd of manufacturers from USA at the time the ESSE6 fit the bill. Still gets used and always wants more. Since then I started working with full one guy custom operations. I still pick off the ESSE line. I own the 4,Junglas,2.5,machete,the colab with Becker the Escabar. I want them all cause of them looking simple but when working in the woods at least one off the ESSE line is with me. I stripped that coating off my 6,4,and Escabar. Then gave a forced patina. Hover flat over boiling white vinegar 5min per side. Sit 5 min the rinse under water. Leaves a honey comb pattern. Many ways to force a patina.

I own one. This knife would be fine for a person who has no clue as to how to sharpen a knife and had no skills. He is forced to think about a sheath. I like the comments that you made at the end of the video. T There are perfectly fine, functional knives in the $25-$30 range. It takes a background to transform the $30 knife. I have worked on a few Ontario SP2s in that price range and taken them to a higher level. Your comment about a $75 knife is also correct. For an all around survival knife that needs no modification or a new sheath, I usually recommend the Ontario TFI. It is one of the knives that I carry in the car and I also gave one to my son for his car. I wanted a survival knife that I could carry in the original factory sheath and slip the unit into a pants pocket of a Brooks Bros. suit. The only one on the market is the Fallkniven F1. The Esse 3 and 4 blades/sheaths do not work for that application.

Texas recently allows fixed blade carry, hell even a sword if so desired, thanks to the hard work of Mr. Doug Ritter! So, of course I must abide, now I don't carry swords, but I do rotate small fixed blades in my EDC if surroundings and where I plan to go has a good fit! I now have several fixed blades and enjoy them all! You cannot go wrong with an Esee! Truly one of my all time favorite knife brands! And excellent warranty that is truly transferable, no questions asked! Great Video MC!

I have 3 fixed. Well 3 i can use for work. An esee izula 2 with macarta . and esee laser strike and an ontario falcon. All are useful at times . may have to add a ratt 3 or esee 3 to the mix

I'm fine with my svord edc hiker; not big on a larger imprint. Other would be the Izula for me honestly if i owned it.

For the same price i got the benchmade puukko and love it but thats the style blade i prefer

Did you try the ESEE 4 at all before settling on the 3? Wondering if I should go for the 3 or the 4.

If your hands are 2XLish, I'd go for the 4. I wear XL work gloves. The 3 works perfectly for my hands.

Done and over. I had plans for it but it ended up not happening. I did chop a bunch of fruit and stuff in slomo with the OKC Raider Bowie. Much more fun.
