Hey brother, I finally got me an Esee 6 last week and I've been using it every day, I can't put it down. I remember your old video about using and working with knife to completley master it and that's what I've been doing. My Ka-Bar and other knives are taking the back seat while I do everything with this knife.

My Pacific strikes a ferro rod pretty well with the swedge. Scraping the swedge across the rod is awkward, but pinning the blade and drawing the rod across the swedge works very well.

I recently got a CRK Green Beret in 4v, and it is an absolutely amazing knife. I am blown away by it. One reason I think your CRK did so well with feather sticking is that the CRK has a convex edge on that hollow grind, which IMO makes a big difference. I'm not sure if your Pacific has the convex edge on it, but mine does and it even says it on the care sheet that came with it. I normally don't really care for hollow grinds, but this one is on another level. Love the channel, bro!

Good video. Since I now have the ESEE 3 and 4 in S35VN stainless I wish ESEE would make the 6 in stainless but with the thickness of the ESEE 5 for durability.

I really like my Esee 6 but the Junglas 2 has replaced it as my go to wilderness survival knife .

Sir, thank you for your review. I own both the ESEE 6 and the ESEE 6 HM. I replaced the handle on the stock ESEE 6 with contoured handles from The Knife Connection. I would certainly suggest contoured handles as they make all the difference with the ergos of the knife. I think that you cannot go wrong with the ESEE. ESEE knives are made in USA and they are very tough and durable. ESEE knives are a great buy for the money. As for the Chris Reeves Pacific, I have not been able to buy one yet. I have not found one that is not being priced gouged as of yet. If I find one I will most certainly buy it because of your reviews about it. Thank you and God bless.

Yup got the green micarda from knife connection and love it. I also got the kydex sheath, pouch for Merlot and fireloop. Great knife and kit to have in the woods. Only thing I’m not a fan of is the coating but That can be fixed.

Very good comparison here, i would love to see and highly suggest the Hogue exfo1 7in i bet itd give the pacific a run for its money at only $250 for an amazing overbuilt all around survival knife! I think you would be hesitant to carry the reeve over the exfo1 to be honest also the Hogue has a hollow handle allowing space for a small survial kit (ie couple of hooks and line maybe a waterproof match or 3 or small ferro rod) but please this knife never received enough attention and publicity to which it deserves so if you could get one on the channel and get more people to see them because it is literally an incredible fixed blade knife also available in a 5in bladed version for those who think 7in blade is too much knife...

The 6 is my go-to for everything...and the ease of sharpening/stroping keeps it the go-to when in the timber👍👍👍 Nice video dude!

Survive GS0-6 in 3V is my favourite. Bark river bravo 2 in 3V is a close second. Got myself the lionsteel T6 & it's a beast as well. The K490 steel is definitely not a "survival" steel though. A bit too hard to sharpen. The T6 will be made in 3V after the first run of K490 blades are gone. Then it would be a very good option.

Great comparison. 👍🏻 Interesting that the hollow grind won out as most people I hear on YT tend to trash a hollow grind on a survival knife. (I personally don't mind them. I've never broken one... 🤷🏼‍♂️) Love my Junglas 2 and Xancudo combo. Does it all.

Just as a reminder to future viewers. ESEE knives are NOT differentially heat treated. The full tang is heat treated evenly to 57hrc. The Rowan heat treat is an oven controlled process with a quench. It is NOT the same as say TOPs knives who does do a differential heat treat to their 1095. The reason people generally struggle to get a sharp spine on an Esee is because they don’t remove enough of the coating/primer to get to the steel. To get the best performance out of a 90* spine. You want to take your time and make sure you’re leveled flat when removing material. ESEEs knives are great performers. They’re extremely versatile hard use knives and arguably have the best warranty on earth. You can’t go wrong with an ESEE.
