Good to see you!! Thank you for ALL of your videos, Iwatched your series just after my husband was diagnosed with a tumor in his esophagus on Dec 7, 2021. Not much out there to see what really goes on until your videos. My husband had his surgery 4/2/22, ended up one week later with a leak in the anastomosis, along with 2 ltr of fluid from his body and shingles. It was a bit of a mess. He had a stent placed in his esophagus and a wound vac to help it all heal. That went really well although he was kept on the feeding tube much longer than anticipated because of the stent. We are now past all of that. His left vocal cord was damaged and therefore paralyzed, voice therapy has helped some, but will probably have the block inserted to be permanently fixed. A few weeks ago he had his thoat diltaion as he has a ledge where food was hanging up and that too was a great success. Just finishing up his immunotherapy, Opdivo (novimulab), 2 more infusions left. His pathology report came back with clear margins, and his scans have all come back clear. I know I've rambled on here a bit, but every little bit of info out there for others with this affliction will help them get thru, then I'm glad to share. Glad to see you after 5 yrs … My father had same surgery last year in October… Its been 6 months now he is back with his daily routine and he is cancer free.. Thanks for sharing your experience… Please keep updating us with your latest experiences as this keeps us motivated to fight with the problem…😊😊

My father had this surgery back in 2013 and we were able to get 7 more years with him before he passed. It wasn't the cancer that got him, just other medical issues. Now, my best friend has the exact same cancer, is going through the exact same treatments (radiation and chemo). Next step is the surgery. I don't know what the odds are of knowing two people close to me having the same diagnosis and I wanted to find out even more information, if that was possible. I looked on KZfaq to see how the surgery was actually performed and I came across your videos. They are so reassuring and I'm going to pass them on to my friend. Thank you for your honesty and openness during this difficult time in your life and I'm so happy you are doing so well today. Good luck going forward and thank you again.

Happy to see a new video from you! Your videos really helped me prepare for my gastrectomy in January of this year. Thank you for making them. Your sense of humour and general outlook are also inspiring. I’m presently cancer-free, but I look forward to being 5 years cancer-free. It’s such a hard thing to go through, the operation and recovery. My experience was almost exactly like yours was, and we were the same age going through it. I’m so happy for you to be healthy and fully recovered! Your pond looks great, and again I thank you for helping me to prepare for the hardest thing I’ve ever been through!

Was so happy to see this latest episode! Glad to see you are still doing well! My bf of 16 yrs passed away from esophageal cancer in 2019. It was horrid for him. Maybe his was too much into a later stage then yours, but there was never any mention of the surgery you had. He was 72 at the time but in good health other then the cancer that popped up. I wish he would of had the chance to undergo the surgery you had. Never heard of that procedure until I came across your video on youtube.

Thanks for your story. It helped me understand what was going to happen and then what to expect after especially the leak test. I had to wait for the end of the weekend also. I am 2 years and a few months since my operation. Good luck and thanks for the update.

Thank you so much. I only have two issues my left vocal cord is paralyzed and I can't gain any weight. Rather than that I'm good. Once again thanks for the videos hope to see more.

Thank you so much for uploading a new video. You have really helped me through my journey. That’s been about three years now. I do have a question and maybe you address it in the video I stopped it to ask you this question a bit early. Did you ever get dumping syndrome? Or do you still? I used to get it quite often until I started learning certain foods and things that would help navigate it a bit better. I’m definitely excited to try the oatmeal as far as keeping things from coming up at night. I’ve definitely woke up choking a few times and it’s awful. Again wonderful to see you doing well and thank you so much for updating us.

wow...hello! thank you for all the updates. My husband had his stomach removed in late December after 6 rounds of chemo. Learning the new diet is always a challenge. I am glad you are doing so well. My husband did not have a Esophagectomy , there was no cancer there but the entire stomach was involved..He is cancer free now but as we know this crap loves to come back so one day at a time! ....BTW Your property is beautiful and dogs adorable.God bless you and your family.

Thank you for the update! Congratulations to you! Happy to hear you’re so healthy! I am 5 months post op! And am cancer free! I am doing Immunotherapy therapy. Looking forward to my 5 year mark! I’m having difficulty swallowing due to scar tissue buildup at the connection site. I have had 3 dilations so far and it has not felt any better, the scar tissue comes back and the opening keeps closing. Other then dealing with this, I’m doing fairly well. I’ve made a few videos of my journey. If any one needs help feel free to reach out! I wish you continued success!

I have had my Own Journey with EC. After watching it kill my Brother, I was shortly after diagnosed with exactly the same condition, 8 years NED now but the fear of it coming back will never leave.

I’ve been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer at 70 years old. I’m not worried as what will be will be. I’ve yet to have a date for either chemo or surgery. Your posts have helped. I strongly believe that if anyone feels reflux or difficulty swallowing go to your doctor immediately

You give me hope bro. Im 32 male and had burning pain in stomach last week and than my throat felt burnt. Also felt like something ks stuck in chest or throat not sure. It's been a week now and no over the counter medicine foelr acod reflex os working. The only other sighn it points to is esophagus cancer. Im a smoker as well

Il 30 marzo 2017 mi hanno diagnosticato un carcinoma all'esofago vicino allo stomaco. Ho fatto 4 cicli di chemioterapia e 23 sedute di radioterapia. Questa è stata la parte più penosa perché alla fine non mi reggevo più in piedi e ho perso 20 kg di peso (che non ho più recuperato). Il 14 novembre 2017 sono stato operato a Padova da un'equipe specializzata con un'operazione in laparoscopia; mi hanno fatto solo un taglio nella schiena tra due costole e divaricandole le hanno fratturate. E' stato il solo inconveniente di cui ho sofferto dopo l'operazione. Per il resto è andato tutto bene. Che dire: dopo 14 TAC e altrettante gastroscopie fatte in questi ultimi 6 anni, dall'ospedale si sono congratulati e mi hanno detto di non farmi più vedere. Soffro solo di dumping syndrome e devo mangiare poco e spesso. Facciamoci gli auguri perchè abbiamo avuto fortuna. Ciao. Giampiero. Cagliari - Sardegna

Did you have any cancer recurrence?

Congrats on 5 1/2 years.Tater tots are very greasy but yummy.I am 20 months out and I know when you get reflux it is very bad and takes hours to subside.If I slide off the wedge it happens.

Don't eat at least a couple hours before you go to bed, our digestive systems slow down when we sleep at night, so if you go to bed with food in your belly it will move very slowly through your digestive system.
