My dryer was slightly different so I went through the front to get the belt on which was a simpler job for me. Then I had to remove the two covers of the front and back fans, and remove the motor, leaving all the wires all connected, and then I could put it through the belt so that I could get it onto the pulley system. Delighted with myself, fixed my dryer for 16euro ! So this video definitely helped me understand what needed to be done, but just a few slight differences.

Great video. I found on mine that the metal heater cover was very firmly stuck home. I had a look at what was left of the chassis and removed the two screws left at the top which attach the rear to the top rails. With these two screws removed there was just enough give to pull the drum back off its seal and guide wheels and refit the belt. I didn't have to remove the heater. Again thank you - without video's like this life would be way harder - as it is I have earned loads of brownie points........

Good video. Excellent camera work. Watched this and another good video, before attempted repair - obvious broken belt. Other video only took off left panel, but removed the centre bearing piece - to allow the belt to go over the drum. This method avoided taking off the right panel, the fan and the heater and needed no electrical disconnections. Pulley route needed a few viewings, but route is obvious when you consider how the belt achieves tension ! Repaired our expensive AEG condenser dryer. "Brownie Points" earnt from my wife after ordering belt whilst on holiday & masses of washing to do on our return ! (Daughter report the breakdown). AEG is very like this Zanussi. AEG has a slightly different bearing cover with a lubricant applier ? (similar to a electrical carbon brush). Straightforward with average DIY skills, although admit to having two different screws left over (not the "hidden" ones mentioned) despite taking great care in placing them all in a plastic ice cream container to prevent loss ! There are a lot of screws. Bearing circlip "pinged off (as they do), but held a cloth over it to avoid loss ! Many thanks. (Subsribed !)

Great video. I've just repaired my ZDE47100W using this tutorial. If you have the same model as me, you can skip removing the heater, and unplugging the internal connectors. Also skip opening and removing the fan. The design seems a bit more friendly to belt replacements (fan is the other side of the motor, and heater is at the bottom. The cables have enough slack to allow the drum to uncouple, without unconnecting). Thanks again :) A*******

I just completed a belt change on Zanussi TD4113W. This is NOT a Condensing TD. Your video gave me helpful hints but suggested more work than necessary for this machine. Remove top. Two additional items on the sides : - the vent outlet on each side has a screw; - there was a metal clip at the front of each side panel that needed to be removed. After that only the top bar needed unscrewing from the back on each side. Then the back can be tilted (gently because there are still plastic parts screwed near the bottom) enough to withdraw the drum from the front of the machine. Put new belt around drum. The fan is not at the back of the machine so the pulley and motor are already accessible. Reassemble. Done.

You really made things so easy. I did all the steps 2 years ago and my Zanussi dryer worked well. Now I have another problem, the belt is perfect but the drum doesn't spin. Although it makes sound like humming sound when it is on but no spinning. What could the problem be, please?
@itsallrobbish
@itsallrobbish 5 жыл бұрын
Hanada Abdelfattah I need an answer to this question, too. At the moment, I put my hand in the drum, through the front door and rotate a quarter turn and it seems to work, but I’m sure it will permanently stop, soon. I think it is the carbon brushes of the motor. I have changed brushes on two washing machines and a Henry vacuum cleaner very easily, far easier than changing a drive belt!

I have an old Zanussi condenser dryer that's around 20 years old which the belt recently went on, do you think I could still find a belt that will fit this? I don't have the part number as I haven't opened the dryer yet but the product number is TC - 481W, I'm just wondering if it's even worth opening if I can't get a part from 20+ years ago, I looked on Zanussi site and can't find anything. Ideally I would like to try fix it as newer appliances today break down just outside their warranty which manufacturers only give 2 or 3yrs warranty these days. The only repair my dryer has needed is this current belt breaking, I'm sure it has a lot of life left in it.

Hi, it's great to hear that you are so keen to keep your tumble dryer working rather than buying a new one! We have the belt for a Zanussi TC481W on the eSpares website. Please note you will just need to checking the dryer's rating label (which contains your model & "product" number beginning "9" )...to ensure this belt is suitable for your particular version. If your label contains one of the 8 numbers beginning "9" as shown on this page in the green section, then this is the correct belt for you. www.espares.co.uk/product/es501196/tumble-dryer-poly-vee-drive-belt---1975h6

Very good. This is similar to the AEG version. I’ve found, so far, that the capacitor, to the left of the motor and the pulley wheel for the belt seem to fail before the belt goes. At £9 for the capacitor and £7 for the pulley wheel, they are cheap to fix.

My dryer belt seems to be slipping! it hasn't broken but is stopping the drum from turning sometimes, the belt looks fine and has no fraying. will I replace the belt or could it be something else like the tensioner spring has loosened?
@eSpares
@eSpares 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, a very common fault on old dryers is the drum may not start when full but will run when empty. This can be due to a failing motor capacitor. For more information see our 'Diagnosing dryer motor problems' video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q5xmZJeFu9vLhpc.html
@itsallrobbish
@itsallrobbish 5 жыл бұрын
I replaced the capacitor on mine......sorted! Jason, do you hear a slight hum when the drum doesn’t turn? It’s almost certainly the capacitor that is the culprit. Just follow the start of this video, taking the side panel off. Be careful of the capacitor, it’ll hold a high charge. It’s the silver thing to the left of the motor. It’s dead easy to replace. It only cost me £9

Any idea how to access the fan on a Zanussi Lindo 300. Your video shows the fan being accessed from the right hand side at the back of the machine but on the Lindo 300 the fan is on the left at the front of the machine and there seems to no room to access it? Thanks

@eSpares 5 жыл бұрын
Hi steven, there are 2 fans on your model with a front and rear fan just like in the video at 5.22 you will need to get the cover off to access the fan and is usually held in by screws or clips.
@stevenstark2268
@stevenstark2268 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick response. The tension wheel and spindle that I have to get the belt on are near the front fan though which is the one I don’t seem to have the room to access. Does removing the rear fan help with this at all? Obviously the motor housing is in between both of the fans as well.
@eSpares
@eSpares 5 жыл бұрын
Hi steven, it is usually easier to get the belt on by removing the rear fan as this does seem the best option, the front fan should come off but if too difficult we have removed the drum but that's a lot more work.

my zanussi zde57140w is similar but belt keeps coming off the jockey wheel. the wheel has over 10mm sideways play on the shaft, is that right? the one in the video seems to have much less.
@eSpares
@eSpares 7 жыл бұрын
It sounds excessive so try replacing the jockey wheel as it is the most likely cause of the problem.
@MrShiftyWizard
@MrShiftyWizard 7 жыл бұрын
thanks but the jockey wheel looks to be in good condition, just the shaft it sits on seems too long. That shaft is firmly connected into the motor housing. There is a circlip on the end of the shaft, I could take this off and put some washers (?) onto the shaft to hold the jockey wheel in line with the motor shaft driving the belt below, but I don't know if this could cause other problems.
@eSpares
@eSpares 7 жыл бұрын
Your machine did not always have this problem so something has changed almost certainly due to wear. It is most likely the pulley or the belt itself that will cure your problem, washers should not be necessary as the pulley should be 'self centering' hence the raised centre.
@MrShiftyWizard

Thanks, this was helpful info about the self centering pulley, it didn't look like anything had fallen off the pulley shaft as the circlip was in place. I've ordered a new belt and hopefully that will sort it, if not then I'll try a new jockey wheel. maybe the spring tensioning the motor against the belt needs replacing too to hold the belt tighter. Thanks.

Never needed to replace the spring, this should not be critical for belt tension so is unlikely to change in tension much. Good luck and please post when you have identified the problem.

Is this the correct info for model Zanussi Autosense ZTE 135 please ?

Hi Michelle, your model is a similar design so the dismantle procedure would also be similar as the motor should be on the same side as the one we use.

Thanks for the video.I have one simple question: How easy is it to move the drum by hand?The problem I have is,that the motor starts running but turns off after 5 seconds as the drum won't turn.The shaft of the motor doesn't get a grip on the belt.Looks like the belt is too slippery or worn but trying to turn the drum myself by hand is not easy.Even after loosening the motor I have the feeling the drum is quite hard to move.But without being able to compare it to a similar tumble dryer I can only make assumptions. Anyway: Thanks for sharing your video - must have taken some time to record and edit it.

Hi Toxy Tronic, thank you for your post, the drum should be free but it does sound like the belt may have stretched but check the bearing on the back and the drum supports on the front and yes it takes a lot of time and effort to put the videos together nut it's worth it if it helps.

Hi @@eSpares,thanks for your reply - much appreciated.The belt itself looks fine to me and is very tight around the drum.Almost thought too tight.But I will check the bearings as you suggested. Either the belt or drum will be the culprit.....

Hi silvia, we don't know your model but start with the capacitor or the motor as both can stop the dryer from turning.

@@slvmateop Hi Silvia, check you have power to the dryer, it should be a 13A fuse in the plug so change that first.
