The first thing you will notice if your tumble dryer belt has snapped, is the dryer is making a motor noise but the drum is not turning or the dryer is not drying.
If the drum in your dryer is no longer rotating the chances are that your drum-belt may have snapped, you end up with a warm, damp pile of clothes!
Some of the models that this video is suitable for with 1975h7 belt or 1975h5, 1975h8.

The repair man is here and I am watching him struggle and complain about changing the belt on the Zanussi dryer. So I decided to see if there was a video online that explains how to do this. Your explanation was so detailed that I feel that I should take over from him. I don’t want to embarrass him by asking if he wants to watch the video though. Thanks for sharing your skills. If you want to learn how to sing, then I will share my skills with you too.

You're a lifesaver, thanks! Managed to replace it, took me a while though. Thought the belt was too long until I realised what you did with the pulley wheel. There was an extra screw inside the top of the white panel, though, which was a bugger to get off and put back on because it kept dropping to the bottom. Anyway, the machine seems to back to normal so you saved me a lot of money! :-)

Thank you for the time and effort invested in this video. Our dryer was produced 11 years ago almost to the day and has basically been used daily doing the drying for a family of 5 until it gave up the ghost 3 days ago. A quick diagnostic made it obvious that it was the belt. Found your video on KZfaq, ordered a replacement belt for the equivalent of 4 pounds and 2 hours after it arrived later dryer is working again (and the better off for a huuuuuuge clean of the internals). Off to buy you a well deserved beer! Greetings form Poland :)

Hi, thanks for this video. The belt on our AEG disintegrated about 6 months ago. I took the back off (doing it from the front is easier as you did). Then ordered a new belt and wheel as that was worn. Six months on my wife asked me to finally put the new items on. I did but had forgotten how it all went! So your video was a great help. Dryer now fully working and ready for winter. Thank you.

Thanks for video, it really helped. New dryer ~600 EUR, visit from service shop ~150 EUR, but new belt is only 5 EUR :) These older models differs from modern ones because of different tension mechanism, therefore it helped me a lot to figure out correct position of the belt. BTW, after belt failure mine motor went down because of spring tension and ripped off the contact from motor start capacitor...

We did it. It took a bit of working out about how the belt goes over the motor spindle but loops back round the pulley. That part was the hardest part as we couldn't quite see it in the vid and actually doing it ourselves. A few slow plays through and I got it. Take care of those changes of screw sizes and where they come from. Anyway enormous thanks as this saved us having to fork out for a new machine.

Thanks for this video. Just fixed the broken belt on our Zanussi dryer. Just in case anyone has the same machine as us, there are a couple of small differences. The vent cover comes off nice and easily in the video but on our machine it was stuck on to the machine by a rubber seal that needed some additional force to remove once the screws were out. Also there was an additional screw holding on the left hand side panel at the top, font of the machine.

Excellent video. Good camera work. Pulley route needed a few viewings, but route is obvious when you consider how the belt achieves tension ! Repaired our expensive AEG condenser dryer. "Brownie Points" earnt from my wife after ordering belt whilst on holiday & masses of washing to do ! (Daughter report the breakdown). AEG is very like this Zanussi. AEG has a slightly different bearing cover with a lubricant applier (similar to a electrical carbon brush). Straightforward with average DIY skills, although admit to having two different screws left over (not the "hidden" ones mentioned) despite taking great care in placing them all in a plastic ice cream container to prevent loss ! There are a lot of screws. Circlip "pinged off (as they do), but held a cloth over it to avoid loss ! Many thanks. (Subsribed !)

Brilliant video. I had a very similar Zanussi model but the side panel didn't just "clip" out. It was in fact held by a plastic insert located about 20 cm from the top. I needed a screw driver to push both lugs down and then force the insert out to release the panel. There was also a screw at the top left which had to be unscrewed from the inside of the dryer. Otherwise, pretty much spot on.

Thanks for the excellent tutorial! Is there a circlip that retains the tensioner wheel? The shaft that it rolls on has a groove that looks like it would take a circlip, but my unit does not have anything there. This might have been the reason for the belt failure on my machine?

Hello, thank you for the great video, I have the same Zanussi dryer and the belt was broken, the Zanussi technician came and replaced the belt but without opening the back heater cover, bearing shaft etc. He installed the belt and after that when the dryer was starting was making a huge noise like the belt was very stretched. Few weeks after the belt was broken again. Can you please advise?

This is a good method for a quick change or if you have a pretty unused dryer. Otherwise, you'll find the fluff build up is horrendous and will need a good clean to every crevice you can get to. Therefore, I chose to use the method of feeding the belt over the front of the drum by tilting it backwards. There are other videos showing this from other companies. I would say it takes just as long both ways, less than an hour, but I spent another 1.5 hours cleaning the dryer thoroughly. Not bad to have the belt last this long after 18 years. Not sure I would spend much more on a repair as the machine was starting to rust at the top of the rear vent cover. Tenant is happy.

Would a moisture sensor be located in a similar place on a 15 year old vented ZANUSSI ZDE57140W with sensor dry? The dryer is no longer switching off when using the sensor programs, despite clothes being bone dry on the cupboard setting and it will even run if I put a dry load on as an experiment. I have looked everywhere in the drum and I can't see anything resembling a sensor/probe to clean or replace.

Excellent video, very well presented and I now have a working machine that could have cost us hundreds. It took a while to fit, but I would have done it faster if our broadband was better, pausing between instructions. Cheers!

Hi guys. Great video. A real help. Have fitted my new belt on a ZDC37200W. Used the 1975H belt but when fitted I have about a fingers width loose on the belt, has it stretched whilst applying or is the belt a duff or am I for ordering the wrong one?

Our Zanussi dryer sometimes won't start to tumble and smells of burning rubber - it's ok once we have rebalanced the washing or lightened the load a bit. We're wanting to get it running safely so we can give it to the local dog rescue to use to dry the dog bedding (nightmare in this weather!). Does this sound like it could be the drive belt or another issue, please? Just so we know if it's worth trying to repair it for them. Thanks!

Is there supposed to be a c-clip on the end of the shaft where the black pulley is? I asked the local supply shop who's Electrolux dealer and he said no, which seems really odd to me that it would be able to slide off.

Just a quick note. My tensioner roller has no circlip allowing the roller to move to the end of the shaft. There is a small groove on the roller shaft end. Could this have been assembled like this at the factory? Checked everywhere inside the dryer, no sign of it!

I think, if you enter the diagnostic mode then press the start button and come out of the diagnostic mode the next time you re-enter it should be clear if the fault is not present please remember I'm doing this off the top of my head so it might not be 100% correct What would really help me to get my video seen as I'm no IT expert is to either share the channel or at least post it to your friends my videos might not be KZfaq superstars, but they save Appliances from the scrapheap. Share and help us fight appliance waste! @gabrielbenaim5820 please remember to subscribe to our channel as that really helps us kzfaq.infoe432SAb2g08 Thanks, Paul 👍

The exact video that I was searching for. very easy to follow. However, I remember that you lift the spring off it's place to do something then returned it back again using the pliers. when I rewatched the video i couldn't see that part. Can you tell me why did you lift the spring? Another thing please, while I was fitting the drive belt I saw a rubbery piece on the floor and I didn't know what was it for. after searching for the same piece it came under two titles; Sealing rear panel, and Gasket back panel. are they both the same? I want to order it but I don't know what to call it and what is it used for? what is the difference between the sealing rear panel and the Gasket back panel? Thank you
