Henry is prob the only person on the planet that gives me inspiration each time I listen to him.

@google Lavon Affair Not rly. I had a few people showing me how life works, but no one was exactly what I was ultimately striving to be. You can find "father figures" everywhere; books, TV, movies, family. However, Henry's POV is something I find inspiring because it makes me want to be a better person and get off my lazy ass. Lots of people have father figures that turn them into racists, xenophobes & crappy individuals. One can choose to be a better man and not succumb to a toxic environment. Hence, Henry.

sorry I'm a Henry Rollins fan myself, but he DOES belittle people, etc. he is confident, but that comes from a self confidence issue. if you're confident in yourself, you don't get offended when someone, ANYONE says any little thing about you, like a trigger word. you are instead at peace within yourself. on the other hand, his emphasis on fitness, masculinity, his directness, is something missing from today's society. he seems to be a well read man.

If Henry is educated about certain things, it doesn't make him a "sellout" or a "hypocrite". I love underground music because it's a great alternative from the dumbed down commercial stuff we are fed everyday. It doesn't mean I hate mainstream, some of that is catchy and fun. But there has to be a balance.
@tommyt19715 жыл бұрын
He always describes himself as “insatiably curious” & it’s benefitted him greatly. The dude’s self-educated & one of the smartest and most intelligent people alive. It’s been a personal inspiration - he travels extensively & talks about how he talks to the local people & learns a lot from them. I try to do the same when I travel & it’s been a learning experience every time.

That's exactly why he's a great guy. You'll often find musicians such as metal heads or punk heads, being very open to dark topics, but are in fact amazing people as they've explored the darkness within themselves, accepted it, and learned how to be a better person.

LOVE the Albert Ayler reference. Rollins Band has helped me through so much heartbreak and existential crisis. Divorce, break ups, unrequited love, job loss, disorientation. So much energy, compassion and motivation in their music and lyrics. I found my way in the end and a bit of love and happiness, too. I am so glad I found these inspiring souls to hold on to in times of despair. I wonder if Henry Rollins will find some romance at some point of his life. Would be a strange turn, but life sure IS strange.
