I was a die hard Earnhardt fan, and always will be. Personally, because of what Dale himself said, I would rate David Pearson as #1 all time.

Just cause he was the best of all time does not make him the best judge of talent . I'm not doubting the Pearson thing but remember he also picked Mike Skinner , Steve Park and a hand in Robbie Gordon getting hired. And it's one, two, 3 strikes you're out at the old ball game. The name Park for a race car driver should put up red flags everywhere. Lol. One things for sure he set off a lot of yellow ones...

Pearson and Petty are #1 if we go by just the stats. But in my eyes, the best to me are Earnhardt, Gordon, Davey Allison and Stewart but I add Stewart to the list not as best Nascar driver but just a great driver period. Smoke could drive anything you put him behind the wheel in. Just like AJ Foyt. Those guys were the best drivers that I had seen. Too bad Davey died cause who knows how the 90s championship scene ends up. Dale was just great and is the poster boy for what stock car racing is But Gordon is probably to me the best Nascar driver ever. He not only won but dominated in NASCAR's toughest era with it's toughest competition. He would have had more titles if the stupid points system doesn't change. Idc what anyone says, Jimmie Johnson is a good driver but his 7 don't equal Petty and Dale 7. And I don't think anyones title since the point system change can equal up to winning the Winston Cup

@@thomasc.5219 I cannot disagree with that. Also, Petty won more than 1 championship because he was being funded by Dodge, while most of the competition was still doing it on their own. Like Gordon or not, he was the best of an era of really good drivers, after Earnhardt.

Ew. I thought I liked you cause Earnhardt and Stewart were my two favorites and only drivers I'd cheer for ever. But then you say you fan of someone like Kyle Busch. A joke of a driver. The biggest crybaby Nascar has ever seen. A driver that in any other era would've been getting his ass kicked by the field on and off bbhg

Man,i follow NASCAR paralell to World Road Racing Championship(now it's Moto GP)for 20+years now and i didn't know that Jimmy Johnson won that many races! It's like, whoa man, that's a lot of wins. It's probably because of the way NASCAR is (not)covered here in Europe. I am from Croatia and we CAN'T even PAY to have Fox sports,ESPN,SKY SPORTS,NBCsn and the likes;on TV!!! Imagine that...ha? There are almost all other Fox channels but no sports. Criminal. Makes me sick. Politicians are are all Europe this Europe that and i can't watch 6hrs of the Glen or Daytona or IndyCar. That discusts me. Now,about the drivers, for me,Dale is Number one.

With as much as I like the king and the Intimidator I try to not get hooked on championships. There were alot of great drivers that never won a championship. Mark Martin was just one but how about the rooster Ricky Rudd, next almost everyone thought that Glen n, Fireball Robert's was one of the all time greats want more fast Freddie Lonzren . How about That wild man Tim Richmond Erine Irvin was another, Hell, you could even throw in one of the most fearless balls to wall drivers of all time, Junior Johnson. He won all his Championships as an owner I know but still the list is substantial. I could also add the skoal bandit Harry Gant

God do you people know anything? No chase Jimmie has 4 and Jeff has 7. As far as Petty goes they freaking races 60-65 times a year. Also you could build anything you wanted and put it on the track. Petty has 60 wins in the modern era . Not too shabby but no where close to 200. #1 in modern era wins (you know when they made rules) is Jeff Gordon with a mediocre 93. Take a look at Jimmie and Jeff's top 10's and too 5's and it's not even remotely close . I mean Jimmie is hundreds of races behind in that category. Dnf's don't even matter now. As long as you win you're in. Wreck as many as you want as long as you win one and finish in the top 30. Really? Jeez you could take a few weeks off or a nap and finish in the top 30 in a Gibbs or Hendrick car. The chase ruined the sport. That's why the stands are empty now. It's way more exciting and difficult when the pressure is on and you know if you have one more bad race you're season is over. No way a driver should be able to miss 11 races and even qualify for a championship. (Kyle Busch) . No chance in hell you're making up that deficit. I really think Nascar did it to protect the 7 sacred championships and it totally backfired. No way you'll ever convince me Jimmie Johnson is better than Jeff Gordon. He never won any in the modern era. Only after the Chase started. That's when it turned into a pile of corporate crap. The system was never broken so why change? To compete with Football? Not happening. It's 36 teams not 2 . No home field advantage. Dumbest move they ever made. If it was broken then why were there 5 drivers mathematically still eligible to win the championship the last race of the '92 season. Just cause Gordon ran away with it a couple of times it's time to change it. Gimme a break. I think in sports like football, basketball, baseball or freaking badminton if you're getting your butt kicked it means time to find a way to get better. Not change the rules so someone who has no business even running for a championship a chance to win . Dumbest thing I've ever heard. That's like saying ok New England you guys are winning way too much so you only get to play with 10 players this year. That's real motivation there I'll tell you. Sports are nothing but competition. Sorry not everyone gets to win a championship. So they're way better than us it's not fair. Boo freaking hoo. That means get better or pick a different profession. It's as simple as that...
