Huge respect to Ian Chappell from India. I've always enjoyed listening to him ever since I first got into the game.Knowing that he has gotten too old now made me a bit emotional while watching this interview but may God give him happy and healthy life for as long as he lives :-)

Its hard to find sensible commentators , Ian chappel isone among the few. One of the best captains the game of cricket has ever seen. I think its a privilege for this generation to be even able to listen to his perspective...

Genius observation. As a tactician, I think he is second only to one Shane Warne and possibly a superior leader of men than Shane, so on balance, I would have to give it to Chapelli as the greatest captain the game has known. Like Shane, he always gives logical understandable reasons for what he says, so lacking in today's commentators generally. Australia has been blessed with an abundance of tacticians in this greatest of team sports and for 100 years or more, Chapelli, the greatest of them all.

I'm an Australian and a cricket fan, and I'm not like that. Most Australians are reasonably laid back, so the "I have to prove myself" bit is a bit misplaced. Maybe the people you're referring to aren't actually Australian and just live there. It's a bit the same with the Sri Lankans. We love them. They're the nicest people you'll meet. And if you do the right thing by them they'll do anything to help you out, the men anyway. Australians are the same. Look after us, and we'll look after you

Ian Chappell was the 'enfant terrible' of his time in the game of cricket. He played hard and he played fair. He took no lip from anyone and was quick to back his players. Even as a commentator he was one of the first to criticise the underarm tactics of his own two brothers. His perspicacity as a commentator. He is easily a major cut above most of the other commentators. Nasser Hussain is another one who is good. He had the bluntness to call the venerable Indian fielders donkeys. Great chaps!

Love hearing Ian Chappell he actually makes you wanna listen and not just watch the game which is icing on the cake 🙂. The only interview probably I am not really happy with Harsha's interview coz it seemed like Ian Chappell turned average questions into an interesting chat in the interview 🙂.

@@mukund.5151 tendulkar according to chappell, was restricting himself and playing out boldly like he did in 1998. He was the reason the title came Endulkar.... When Sehwag scored 309, he said Sachim stopped him from scoring 300 in a day which was negative mindset. Having said that being A Tendulkar worshipper, Chappelli has a very shrewd cricketing brain.

Harsha - the man in his dream job where everyone else is a top cricketer and thus a perfect fit. Harsha - the man who thinks if he can play chess well, his cricket brain should also be pretty good! But you've gotta respect him for his zeal

Pranab KSarkar Harsha has a good brain and great social, communication skills.. Therefore a good presentator. I missed him when those egoistic politicians in the BCCI caused him to lose his job for a very small reason.

Harsha should have written that last bit down about commentary and emailed it to every single cricket commentator working today. Because that's what it's all about now in modern commentary; going off right at the top of their voice. And that, after time, gets really boring to listen to.

yes i agree. i worked with an australian when he was on tour to india last year and it did not come across the way George the architect's attitude is coming across. my point is nto every person is the same and to make a judgement based on one prick's behavior is wrong on my part. and yes, i agree with your opinion mate. cheers.

Only if Harsha interrupts less and allows the other person to complete. Ian Chappell was just goin to talk about his regret on retiring early and Harsha interrupted him. He undid his own good question by his habbit of talking too much

Of course he IS.., he was A CAPTAIN DURING HIS PLAYING DAYS, AND NOW he commentates BECAUSE OF HIS KNOWLEDGE OF THE GAME, as a player AND AS A CAPTAIN.., THATS WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM HIS "POINT OF VIEW"!!! Oh I forgot, u ARE a commentator who NEVER PLAYED THE GAME ;-)

Haydos was very good at gully to the quicks, and a good 1st slip to the spinners. But Gilly was nowhere near Healy's equal as keeper. Ask S.K. Warne who he thought was a better keeper.

if we deserved to loose, we deserved it. point is aussies lose with the reverse swing of an indian bowler. got dethroned under a pompous captain and cost the world title. my point from the beginning was one and the same that today India is considered as a feared team , much more than what it was yesterday, if it is too hard for your little brain to digest my friend, then god force.good luck :)

i am not rambling bro you are. all aussies have an urge/rather a necessity to prove that 'look i am better' maybe no one bothered to look down under. let me tell you, people did, and applauded the cricketers who played good cricket, but certainly no one likes the attitude of not being a sport. i never said that one team is better than the other, a statement like india dethroned aussies pricked your nuts hard, reality check for you. i dont care if bangladesh beat us 10-0 .

8-0 to play on flat tracks during net practices and quick bouncy wickets when you play the test match. sounds fair on the ACB's part doesnt it? the whole world knows the aussie's never admit their flaws but only cover them up. thats great sportsman ship. so much so that they decided to give a prestigious award to tendulkar and not an aussie who was or is his contemporary. forget tendulkar, i ll come to the point.

i dont care if an aussie comes and bowls at 180 kmph. whats interesting is to watch our players whack then at 200 mph.thats what they do. aint that sweet? so much so for real cricket. and yeah, pity those aussies who still find it difficult to play zaheer at 130. maybe they should practice playing at 130 in the nets before playing at 160. :)

Harsha is so incredibly goofy all the time. And his English diction really needs improvement. He needs to slow down his freight train pace and enunciate his words better. Ian is a real legend. Great commentator ; tough as nails and tons of insight. Always shoots straight from the hip.

when you grow up in an environment playing the same balls , those balls become friendly. and it holds true for indians as welll. the point isnt if we lost 8-0 or 16-0 its just a series and time will turn the tables soon. its just wait and watch. gettign dethroned from the WC, loosing to India tests and one day too and costing Punter his captaincy pretty much shut the yap of those who babbled about world domination. you did that all right but not with all of them. some did you good by dethroning.

dear analyst. i am smoking reality. its just that its too hard for you to digest. i never said indians are the fastest bowlers in the world. aussies are the fastest and i ll say that they will keep producing fastest bowlers as long as they live. but its ironic how they lose with such an attack. getting dethroned thats one, getting a potential world class captain chucked out thats two. accept it bro, rise and fall and fail. my argument is not how we lost, loosing is a part and parcel of the game.

Well, there you go, Harsha the ultimate anti-Indian commentator. Ian Chappell wants to talk more about Sehwag's innings in Braborne stadium and this harsha just changes the topic to something else. Just cant see people praising Indian cricketers (unless paid to do so ;-) .

It seems Tendulkar has interfered in shewags mode of playing, quite unnecessarily. that could be the reason why shewag wore earplugs while batting with him. Mayb sachin was feeling insecure

Your comment here lacks a bit of context as Ian Chappel's comments about Sehwag's innings in Multan. Sehwag admitted later in the press conference after scoring 228 that he had Melbourne Test 2003 in mind while choosing to be cautious in the last session of the day.India in that Melbourne test folded up for 369 after being 278-1 at one stage with Sehwag holing out at mid wicket for 195 on a full toss while trying to score his double hundred with a six .Anyways Sehwag was dropped at least thrice in course of innings at Multan and was riding his luck. It was important that India score a minimum of 600 runs on that flat wicket in Multan and with Ganguly out injured India could afford to be a bit cautious. Sehwag is great with his strike rate in test cricket but sometimes one has to play according to the situation.Remember Sehwag was heavily criticized for his rash stroke in Napier Test 2009 (he was captaining the side in absence of Dhoni)where he got out slogging in the second innings when the team was following on after a first innings deficit of 300 runs with Dravid saying that 'playing to the needs of the team is the natural game of a batsman' in the post match conference. Cricket is not only played for achievements or records or for solitary joy of someone like Ian Chappel but for wins.
