The same happened to me in 2011 world cup india vs england when I thought england was gonna win, I switched off the tv and saw the match tied in the newspaper next morning!!!

that world cup was really special most entertaining ever... Bangladesh and ire beat england ... Aussies lost first time in world cup after 1999..... I remember ned vs eng that match also went to last over... eng won... group topper South Africa only lost to england..😂...

@ ICC and cricket are not anything like FIFA and football. Outside of the T20 format, the ICC does little to grow the game so teams like Ireland end up getting shut out.

It was one of the major moments in cricket! An underdog side which has lost half its side, chasing a mammoth total by the standards of those days and in a world cup! Sure Bangladesh and Ireland have done it in the past but those were some easy totals to chase. This was extraordinary!

@@shreenjandutta actually, no they have a many reasons, like scoring of strong teams during group and qualifiers will be too high against weak teams etc. So I understand that it's not simple but ICC doesn't even try to guide at least few of the promising teams so that they at least qualify like how recognition of Afghan team in India really helped them. There are even few times Ireland even beat England, so if ICC helps I'm sure at lest 2-3 more teams will qualify.

At least should be given more chance to get the desired recognition and popularity in world cricket. Teams like Ireland, Netherland, Scotland, and Zimbabwe have played some good cricket throughout the years and it would be greatly appreciated if they script their names yet again on world cricket. Not to mention, Nepal is doing exceedingly well and very soon we might see an advent of a new Cricket country. Let's see where the wind blows. 😄

Kenya entering SF was because of all nz and other teams boycotting those games played in zimbabwe,not saying kenya played bad but it was just that their route was made easy by other teams boycotting

It did because after this wc and the next, ICC made sure to close the doors on associate nations for fear of being humiliated😝😝. To be fair, associate cricket have certainly increase in quality. They can take on any team on their day

It changed because till then the associate nations' team was selected to play in WC to increase the number of teams, more matches, more revenue, and of course to show the well-played game of permanent members. This game showed that more of the associate members are coming up, playing a good game and if given more resources, they can come up to the level of others. Moreover, it led to ICC and other boards arranging series between permanent members and associate members so that they can gain more experience. It was unfortunate that they weren't given more chance to evolve later on.

Cricket is a crap where only former colonies of British are playing and quality have reached to that level where yougesters from England, southafrica, new Zealand and Australia are no more interested in cricket. So Indians will play world cups amongst themselves in few years
