DID YOU KNOW :- the word "flying Dutchman " came in 2014 world cup in a groupstage match between nederlands and Spain. In the match Spain would go to score first but after the first half something happened that changed the whole term for any dutch athele. Robin van persie came into the opposition goalkeepers box and a cross came in and then the history itself, van persie jumped in a very different way like he was flying and he scored the goal. Since that goal , van persie and every single dutch athelete or team is named as the flying dutchmen

This is bullshit, completely false. Even Johan Cruyff was called by the same nickname in the 80s. The Dutch give this nickname to any of their sportsperson who performs well, and it is taken as an honor by the individual. Robin van Persie didn't start this trend of getting called by "The Flying Dutchman", this term is already pretty famous since ages and it is actually a name of a mythical dutch ship called with the same name.

Netherland and Scotland deserve test status. They have been playing cricket for so long and have significantly improved. Not granting them test status is an injustice. They don't deserve to be associate nations anymore. Every cricket fans should stand up and urge ICC to grant test status to Netherland and Scotland.

It's always good to see underdogs rise as they go. I think ICC needs to get more countries to play cricket in world level (like FIFA does) so that the sport will become more famous. Netherlands could be a good team if they keep playing against top level teams as experience matter.

the 2023 World Cup qualifier was a massive tournament for the Netherlands, with Bas de Leede's fifer and hundred vs Scotland allowing them to qualify. But the huge underdog story was vs the West Indies, a team they'd recently lost 3-0 to, and who scored 374 in the first innings. A brillaint fight from the NEtherlands gets them to a superover where Logan van Beek has the best superover of any player ever, scoring 30 runs and then taking 2/8.
