My favorites (UEFA): 1. Germany - Already had the team, now with the coach as well with Flick. Arguably the favorites on paper for Euro 2020 (by some metrics) but with poor strategy against England (watch the first 10 min versus the rest of the game it made no sense), now with a coach who truly understands the Germany/Bayern play style. 2. Spain - Nobody would want to play Spain, especially in a knockout match. They were a bit unlucky to lose against Italy in my opinion (not discrediting Italy) and players like Pedri, Dani Olmo… will only be older and more experienced. Spain isn’t loaded with world class players like France and Germany, but Spain has players who know how to play the Spanish way and a coach that knows how to play the Spanish way, and the Spanish way is very effective. 3. France - They still have arguably the best team on paper with players like Pogba, Mbappe, Kanté, Varane, Lucas Hernandez who can determine match outcomes by themselves. But at times it feels like a superstar showcase more than a team bent on winning a tournament. 4. Italy - The current Euro champions, they have team spirit and overall a good selection of players (not a great one though some of the younger guys like Chiesa, Barella, Donnarumma are very talented - they just don’t really have the world class players) and now also experience with winning tournaments. Italy know how to win football matches. 5. England - England have the strongest attacking depth and fantastic players at the face of the team. Though not as good as their attack, the midfield and defense still have competent players as well. This English generation get along with each other very well, and have experience making a semi-final and final run in the last two major tournaments. Also would have to squeeze Brazil and Argentina in there for an overall favorites, and I’d say Argentina would be just after England while Brazil is between Italy and England. Argentina have a decent squad + still Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria could be a difference maker as well. With Brazil, they have some good players who aren’t in form, some very high level players like Marquinhos but also weaknesses. But they do still have Neymar too.
