I've read alot that says true hydrosols do impart the benefits to skin and hair and have microscopic molecules of the e.o. from the plants in them while a lot less potent than e.o. still great for skincare and smoothies ( depending on plant) .

What is the shelf life of a hydrosol if not used in a formulation? Will putting the hydrosol in the refrigerator extend the shelf life? What is the anti oxidant to protect the essential oil from oxidizing over time? After dinner I find myself watching your videos to gain a bit more knowledge. Thank you for sharing.

Hydrosols won’t oxidise, and they don’t need storing in the fridge. They last for years. You can learn more about essential oils and hydrosols with our Certificate in Fragrance and Essential Oils: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/CertificateinFragranceandEssentialOils-3179/ or study our full Diploma of Personal Care Formulation: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/DiplomaofPersonalCareFormulation-479/ to become a qualified Cosmetic Chemist.

It still imparts a lovely aroma in a water soluble form, but doesn’t have any active principles for other skin or hair benefits. Thank you so much for the video. I am troubled by the usage rate of preservative for hydrosols. I see 1% would be enough. I was wondering what your thoughts were since the usage rate could go up to 5% I also see glycerin can be added, but I see no usage rate glycerin for hydrsol anywhere. I feel glycerin may cause stickiness. Thank you

About the dried infused herbs in oils to make soap, do the scent and the color stay after adding the Naoh or Lye water to the oil p? Which oils do you recommend more for infusing herbs
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 2 жыл бұрын
All herbs have an oil soluble component - it depends which of these you want to obtain through doing an oil infusion. This choice is up to you and any research you conduct! The NaOH/lye could alter aroma, but the extent to how much could vary - it would take trials to find out as it may also depend on what other oils are present. This really takes practical samples to determine. Thanks for sharing. I'm considering using hydrosols to keep costs down. Are hydrosols considered fragrances? 🤔 Can you claim free from fragrance if you don't add essential oils?
@jaunbonaysmith
@jaunbonaysmith 2 жыл бұрын
@mdml based on her previous video a few years ago when i asked her in comment section 'yes'...it will be considered a fragrance because it's imparting aroma in the product hence u can't have the fragrance free claim but u can have 'no synthetic fragrance'
@mdml0
@mdml0 2 жыл бұрын
@@jaunbonaysmith thanks but don't some ingredients impart some kind of scent anyway even though it's not so pleasing like hydrosols ande essential oil? Can you claim fragrance free if it smells like the emulsifiers and fatty alcohols, etc.?
@jaunbonaysmith
@jaunbonaysmith 2 жыл бұрын
@@mdml0 u would have to ask Miss Belinda or Tasmine cuz' i think that's a different case as it relates to aroma from butters etc as oppose to aroma from e/o or hydrosols because fragrance from butters won't impart that much aroma to the product like what u would get from using an e/o or hydrosol/floral water
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 2 жыл бұрын
You can’t claim fragrance free if there is any sort of aroma compound. Hydrosols and essential oils are considered aroma compounds, so you cannot claim fragrance free.
