Danie -- I'm a weaver and flinched when you mentioned washing that that big wool (it looks like wool) mustard, cream & brown blanket. Buy some detergent/soap that's especially for wool, like Eucalan. Soak blanket in a tub of lukewarm water, gently squeeze liquid through or very gently move around. Drain water in tub, fill with same temperature clean water and move blanket around very gently to rinse. Then roll in a big towel, gently squeeze out excess water, and lay flat to air dry. If you do any kind of regular washing, you'll likely ruin it.

Can I do this with an antique Persian rug? (It's from the 30s and I just don't know how to wash it without ruining it. I typically just vacuum it. I have animals so it gets hairy.)

@@ninjapiratess- my husband lays down a heavy sheet of plastic, wets our rugs, uses a wool cleaner to gently scrub, then a stream of water to rinse and then squeegee the rugs. And the he drapes it over some wooden rods braced between some of our patio furniture or plastic tables, so the rugs can air dry. Depending on how dirty the rugs, he will clean and rinse until the water runs clean.

18.20 - the doorway corner bracket is lovely! You could do stained glass in the open spaces. Then hang in it the window looking out towards the lawn. Or in the doorway to the yard/garden. Or on the outside of your greenhouse. 😊 I do like the idea of separating the 2 sections. Do the above with the triangular piece. The square piece then takes on a life of its own. Turn it into a serving tray with handles. Put glass over it so you can see the design. Keep in the breakfast nook, where you've hung the window corner bracket. 😊

About the decorative piece at 18:05 -- If you created a duplicate then you could mount them on a wall at an appropriate height and put a nice board or slab of marble on top for a laptop desk, writing table, vanity or breakfast bar. About the red textile runner: I'm not an expert but I collect these kinds of textiles when I can afford to. Having worked in a fiber arts and weaving store and having read the related magazines and books for a few years, I want to say it could have been made in Guatemala (or nearby) and it may have been made using a backstrap loom. But, I am no expert --just someone who loves these kinds of weavings. Nice score, Danie!!! Also the little black metal rolling cart looks like it might have been intended as a rolling telephone stand, with slots for two phone books (yellow pages and white pages)...maybe it was used in an office set up. Having said that it could also work as a printer stand with extra paper stored in those slots. I'm a sucker for little rolling carts, myself! Fun shopping haul--thanks for sharing it with us!

The dog box is an ashtray. The concave bit on the inside of its top holds a cigar. The long textile might be Peruvian. The figures would be a llama and I think an alligator or crocodile figure. The black rolly thing is a printer stand with bins for your printer paper. The origami handkerchief is my fav and it would definitely be framed on acid free mat that allow it to not touch the frame's glass.

Lot of fab finds. The wool blanket I would research before cleaning it, many woolen things do not react favorably to being washed. Just a thought. It looks hand or loom woven. I love textiles and when ppl mention washing something, i go , ai yai yai. Be careful...just me. The deer/elk tile looks William Morris style...the wood corner dowel decorative thingy, could it be incorporated into the cottage headboard????? The red textile is prolly Peruvian or Chilean origin. It could become a window swag, I would line it to protect the back from light fading. The doggy die box, the thing inside the lid, could that be a man's matchbox and the inside thing a striker to pull the match against? When they would light cigarettes or cigars?

Shopping with you is like a roller coaster ride, fun and exciting! Like you in my day I just couldn’t pass up a good find, through the years they mostly turned into a finished piece! Once in a rural Pennsylvania town, I came across an editors desk about 10 feet long, beautiful oak, $25! He wouldn’t let me come back for it the next day, so I had to leave it (obviously I never stopped wanting it! Thank you for your enthusiasm and sharing with us, I loved the vignettes!

I completely understand the decorative support. I bought an old crib (no kids in sight) because the wood rails and bars are so interesting that I know I will use them somewhere.

The metal table is used, back in my day, as paper and carbon paper holder being put next to the manual typewriters. The written transcript would be on top of the rolling table. The teacher would time you. That's how she would know how many words per minute you typed.

That doorway piece would be an excellent template to create your own... I loved the old house! So many wonderful bits and pieces of architecture on top of what the owners left behind. Our homes really do tell our stories.

My favorite is the milking stool as is and I also like the red long fabric/tapestry which could be used as a table runner or simply hung on a wall, and the other fabric/carpet/rug could also decorate a wall. The die box with the dog is definitely an ashtray, I also love your brass dog: gorgeous! I basically liked everything you bought except maybe the black rolling stool/table at the end, but it seems very convenient. Your idea of cutting the decorative square to create a small table with a glass at the top is an excellent idea. Otherwise, you can also keep the whole thing together and hang it on a wall like a kind of antique wall statement. Good choice for everything! The Japanese origami under glass looks gorgeous. There are interesting things where you are.

Great thrift haul, Danie! Love the stool and the little chair especially. You sure got lots of interesting items. It will be fun to see where these items end up in your home. I kinda got the feeling that not too many of them will end up in your bedroom makeover. LOL Getting items that will fit more than one spot in the house is always good. Lots of love to you and hugs to Kenobi. ♥♥♥

The red blanket/fabric with the snaps looks like it's from Nepal! The motifs and colours are very, very similar to some textiles my sister brought back from her own trip there.

The blue and yellow tile, with the stag on it, is vaguely reminiscent of a piece from "The Unicorn Tapestries" (I think it's the pose of the stag, on the blue background that reminds me of it). Absolutely gorgeous work of art.

You absolutely found beautiful and unused pieces. When I looked at the industrial rolling table, the 1st thing that came to mind is an affirmation nook holding journals inside. Excited to see where you style them in your home ❤🏠

The wood piece cut could be a corbel like accent with the square as a side table top. The square could be a wall piece. I remember seeing similar pieces growing up that had mirrors underneath. Fun pieces.
