I think dark moody rooms work well in large spaces like huge Victorian homes that usually have large windows and incredible woodwork. But it doesn't hurt to try it out and if doesn't work you can always repaint. 😊

Agreed!! I have a dark blue/navyish bedroom, but live in a historic home with really high ceilings and two tall windows. I definitely think it's the angles in her room, as well really, that eat up any light, especially only having 1 normal sized window.

Guest rooms need different things than regular bedrooms. For guests, it’s nice to have places where people can open out their suitcases, hang a few clothes, have a full length mirror and a place to put on makeup. Also a place to hang their towels and put their toiletries, if there isn’t space in the bathroom.

I started doing some light DIY 10 months ago and I can’t believe how much I’ve learnt, how much my confidence has grown and what a difference it’s making. Is my work perfect? No but it’s pretty good and better than what was there and it’s still making me smile after 10 months. This week I’ve painted a cabinet, am fixing a stuck window and am making a large desk.

Yes, i saw someone who made a great home using black walls, but he turned black only the walls that have huge sun light on them, because it would give a good contrast. But overal everyone can decorate as they like, i just wanted to say that point about the dark colors. I honestly love black alot, but i know that it has many cons aswell I always fall in between Gold and White, and Black and Gold .@@lovealwaysmom

This was the usual pleasure to watch but also really educational for me - so many interior designers encourage you to "go with" a low-lit space and embrace a dark colour, and I have been tempted for my own "black hole of Calcutta" bathroom. Just watching the footage of the closet removal was telling: I am not drawn to any of the colours (green, mauve, pale blue), but the stark contrast in the amount of light reflected on screen between the adjacent sections of the different colours was immediately apparent. The light reflected increased even further when the new drywall was put in, even though it was matt plaster and unpainted, with no reflective surface. The other thing that came through was the way the dark paint showed every fault in the wall and ceiling surface, especially where those joined. Thank you, and I appreciate your hard work, perseverance, and humour.

It makes me sad to see this. I just got most of my laundry room painted a similar dark color and love it but then I read all the comments about how darks can be depressing! But our room gets a ton of sunlight and I'm keeping several areas bright white so maybe I'll only be half depressed. GREAT JOB on the mudding. It looks amazing.

Yeah, no hate to the dark academia vibes, but I knew from the beginning it was great in theory, but too dark for her usual design style. Also, this room is already kind of tight and tucked in and the dark academia vibe really works for larger rooms IMO because the room can handle the lack of light. This is because large rooms can almost have the opposite feeling of being too large and all-encompassing so dark walls make the room feel more intimate and cozy.
@candace200
@candace200 4 ай бұрын
@@lauramitchell6725 I think they decided on the vibes together to push Danie out of her comfort zone and give Alex more free reign. Personally, I agree with you though and saw this a mile away because of the room's layout. Alex is still growing in her own right. As we've seen in other parts of the house the dark academia vibe worked in other ways and I believe it has pushed Danie creatively. I don't think it was all bad.

You always make me smile. I think a nice chaise by the window would be a lovely reading spot.

Each 90-degree duct degrades the air speed flowing through it. Unfortunately, the new T connection does the same thing the old T connection did. Air speed degrades less with 135 degree bends. For that, typically the duct run rides below the joists to make that angle.

You are so inspiring Dani. I love watching you getting your creative juices flowing. It shows on your face how excited you are and it inspires others. I especially like that you show everything isn't perfect, we all make mistakes. We just have to preserver. Thanks Dani can't wait to see the finished product

Whoo Hoo! I LOVE demolishion too! I LOVE opening up spaces!!! I LOVE New Creative Beginnings!!! YEEESSS!!! I especially LOVE opening walls AND adding BIG windows & glass doors - bringing nature indoors!!! My personal taste - I would most definitely put ceiling to floor windows in the two outside walls of the two back to back bedrooms in the entire squared off areas.
