I used to wear Double Wear in my 20s....then things happened and I just couldn't afford to pay for it anymore. The weird thing is that I've spent hundreds of pounds since to try and find the perfect foundation and now I've returned to Double Wear. Why did I not retry it sooner???
In this video we'll compare both the original Double Wear and the New Formula of the Double Wear Light. What skin types will they be most suited to? And Do the matte formulations dry out the skin like other foundations????

Thank you again, Gemma, for another super insightful review. I love it when your mother joins you. I'm thinking of trying the DW light. I have to throw out my Estee Lauder youth perfectionist because they are over two years old - not sure how long they are good for but I'm thinking two years might be the limit. My skin does tend to get congested so I like that the DW light will not clog pores plus it lasts all day if I need it to. After so many years of trying different foundations in my 55 years I think that Estee Lauder makes the best foundations.

I found your channel a month ago and I absolutely love it I am in my middle 50’s and absolutely love than you have your mum on certain videos ,but even on your videos that do not include your mum, you still give information on how the make up will sit on various skin types and ages. as I have said love, love, love your channel.

Finally, a KZfaqr who is a color match with me! I have just started using ELDW for the first time (53 year old, newly dry skin from Retin A). I put it on with a damp sponge and it covers beautifully and stays all day! It's like a miracle after all the foundations I've tried! Yayyyy at last someone on KZfaq doing a up-to-date review on eldw!!!!! The original dw is my everyday everywhere makeup. Best applied with beauty blender,The Ordinary silicone primer and mix in 3 drops of No7 foundation drops = long lasting perfection 💕👌😍

Such a great review thank you!! Im a long time DW lover and all the reviews I've seen of the Light are people comparing it to the old one and because they hate the new formula it was mostly negative. It was actually great to get just an honest opinion on the product as it is now and i've ordered myself one to try in the light because of your video. Super helpful 🙏💜

I ended up buying the Light, and I’m loving it. I’m 45, have a really oily Tzone, and work in a hospital, so Foundation slides off my nose and chin by lunchtime. Elsewhere I’m getting a wee bit dryer. DW Light Soft Matte is a miracle - lasts 14 hrs plus on me.

Oh my gosh.... Thank you for this review ! So helpful to me as I have used EL double wear for years and I do like it....but after your video today I think I will try the EL light .... I’m probably your moms age... ( or older) and by the way I love your mom-she is beautiful ! So thank you thank you my pretty lady... this video was super helpful and reassuring ....oh and I do agree at an older age (like me) you need to be careful not getting this product under eyes.... definitely sets into lines. Two beautiful ladies!!! Thank you so much for the review! Estée Lauder Double Wear is my life favorite but for every day foundation I use DW Light but old version. It’s discontinued so after I finish it I need to buy something else. Old version looks so great on my skin and I’m so curious how the new version will look like! It’s not yet in the stores in the Netherlands though 😔 I’m also using 2N1 in DW, so would be nice to try the new version in the same shade!

Doublewear is simply the best full face of makeup I’ve ever seen, there are sooo many foundations and yet this still holds it’s own. I miss wearing foundation but wearing a mask has made it impossible. I have back up bottles of DW I hope there still good. Thanks for your in-depth review, even on camera DW makes you look flawless.

I'm 56 and I love the original double wear, love the most the transfer resistance. I hate when foundation is coming of on my fingers when I touch my face. Applied with a damp beautyblender it even works under my eyes very well, of course just a small amount of it. Your mom is so gorgeous, her eyes are beautiful, and she has awesome lashes 💕☺️

Gemma, I am always on the hunt for my holy grail foundation, so go back to watch videos that you've done that I may have missed the first time around. I do follow several, and have to say that you are so very charming, real, detailed, and that it is much appreciated the time it must take to make each video. Also MUCH appreciated, is, not only that you do the natural light test, but that you actually zoom in close enough that lines and imperfections are visible to your viewers. As a 52 yo woman who didn't always pay much attention to her skin, and probably still don't as much as I should, I appreciate the acknowledgement that makeup lighting does lend itself to showing as "more flawless" as compared to in-real-life lighting. It is quite refreshing and I believe women of any age can benefit from reviews that show how products perform in real life, in normal home or office lighting, on skin that isn't, on it's own, smooth as silk. I think your mom should start her own channel, too!

This may be just a thing with the 3N1 shades, but actually 3N1 is darker in the DWL Soft Matte Hydra vs. the Original DW! Anyway, I have crazy dry skin and can't tolerate the Original DW all day long but have discovered I can get the best of both worlds if I MIX the two. Love ELDW! i have tried a couple of samples of the double wear, and absolutely loved it! i currently have spent at least a couple of hundred euro on foundations. i might have just tried them once or twice and put them in a drawer never to be used again. I am currently using the revolution stick foundation which is ok but it transfers something terrible.. Seeing your video has made my mind up to buy the light version. its absolutely true quality over quantity! i love watching watching you. you always give your honest opinion. plus i love that you added your mum.

I realize this video is already over a year old but still very worthwhile and informative. You do such a nice job evaluating both of these foundations!! I’ve been using the original formula of Double Wear Light for at least 10 years. I’m glad you explained why users have been unhappy with the new formula with the hyaluronic acid. I’ve been buying the old formula on Amazon and the price keeps going up! I’m not sure I like the tacky feel of other products that contain hyaluronic acid. I worry the regular Double Wear would increase my bumps and clog pores, etc. Anyway the problem I have is when it’s humid and I am sweating, I feel like my spf moisturizer slides right off. You mentioned both foundations do well with humidity so it makes me wonder if my spf moisturizer is the culprit. Do you or others have recommendations on SPF moisturizers that I can use under my foundation? I have been using Neutrogena’s Visibly Even Daily Moisturizer with Sunscreen for years.

I am in love and use the original Estée Lauder and it has always been amazing for me since I live in the desert and it’s hot as hell!! My makeup is always looking amazing and people always ask me what I use. I have ever had problems with pores or breaking out or anything. I swear by this makeup and the Marc Jacobs makeup 👌🏼

This was so helpful. I switched to the Light in the last couple of months because the Original was too cakey on my skin. I’m now thinking my problem (oily skin) is how much product I’m applying (too much) and the setting powder I’m using (also Estée Lauder). Going to search your channel for more info on setting!

Fabulous as usual! Double Wear Light discontinued ....nooooo😩 Shade 1C0 very cool pinky shade for fair skin . The original Double Wear equivalent 1C0 definitely a shade darker. 💗
