I do agree the La Mer moisturizer is definitely overpriced, but I think a lot of celebrities got it for free or for PR. I mean then they might as well use it!

I trained for Armani Beauty in NYC with the man who wrote the myth behind La Mer and the moon. It’s such a joke! Seaweed and mineral oil. VIDEO PLEASE!

Fun fact- witch hazel has def helped me with body acne! I used to use it on my face in high school without a moisturizer... probably not smart. But basic witch hazel can be nice!

I use Nivea since childhood and I heard that La Mer is fancy version of that 😅 I do love my Nivea indeed.

I loved using witch hazel (a toner with identical ingredients to the one in this video) because of the instant mattifying effect, but after about a year of consistently using it my skin would not stop peeling off. I couldn't figure out what was happening until I tried taking the witch hazel out of my routine and my skin finally began healing. I just want to warn people to please be careful.

@Macy Frazier I don't think you understand what I'm saying. La Mer and Nivea are almost identical when it comes to ingredients and quality. If La Mer works for her, Nivea would would work as well because they're identical. The difference is the price. She clearly uses some very inexpensive products. Giving 400 $ for a product that is almost identical to a 5$ one isn't very smart.

@Macy Frazier I get your point, however I don't like the marketing around LaMer because it makes customers think you NEED to spend that kind of money for a quality product, which you don't. But sure, everyone is free to spend their money as they wish. What I don't like is this kind of marketing and hype around skincare, and influencers promoting products that are way overpriced for what they are, without saying it. Hope it makes sense.

I came here to see la mer dragged and stayed for the lil inspirational talk at the end. Real talk, I really appreciate how you talk about skin care being self care, because I really didn't see it as that until I started watching your videos. I only saw it as a way to "fix my face" to look more conventionally attractive or more like insta models. I've been working on rewiring my relationship with my body and appearance to be more positive and caring instead of "I need to fix xyz and then I'll be happy." Thank you for helping me (slowly lol) deconstruct my toxic mindsets.

Good for you! I had a conversation with a teen who felt her skin is ugly and wrong. Thanks to filters and lack of skin texture in many photos. So I showed her pic of Megan Markle (who in my opinion have amazing glowing skin) and Eva Green and ask how do they look to her and she said that they look perfect. I picked very high resolution photos so that I then proceeded to zoom in extremely at their skin where you could see wrinkles, discoloration, little pimples and texture. This way I showed her how we are so scrutinizing our skin but in other people we don't see it that way. Megs may have wrinkles and other stuff and yet she looks glowy and beautiful because those things actually don't take away from skin overall beauty. We also tend to look at the 'problem', so if I have three pimples on my forehead that's all I may see in the mirror while not noticing many beautiful features.

I’m really interested in what products to use on your lips. I know a lot of people’s lips get thinner as they get older. I am really hoping for a video on children’s skin care. When to start using a cleanser different from their baby or kids soap, what moisturizers are best for their faces, and what to stay away from? Are kids too little for a simple skincare routine? I recommend searching for susan yara she has videos about her children’s skincare which is only a very gentle cleanser and a moisturizer and in the morning some sunscreen

Ok, so I had to look up the ingredient list on La Mer. Second ingredient is mineral oil and the third is petrolatum. Geez, why would anyone spend so much on this??? And the packaging isn't even attractive!

It can be six months to a year. Most packaging should have a little symbol on it that looks like an open jar. It will usually have 6M or 12M on it. Also, pay attention to how it looks/texture and smells. If the texture is off or if the color has changed (hello vitamin c serum) it's probably lost its efficacy and isn't good any longer.

Also steric and palmatic acid is also known to cause skin darkening even tho they are considered healthy skin ingredients but the other fatty acids like linoic acid is a much better fatty acid

The problem with Creme de la Mer is that because of the occlusives of petrolatum and liquid paraffin (mineral oil), it simply doesn't sink into the skin whatsoever. I got a jar of the Soft Cream at Winners Vancouver, at a reduced price of cad250, and every time I applied it at night, I would notice a filmy layer of white cream or grease that comes off whenever I splash my face with water inside the basin.....ewww.....That was the last time I ever wanted anything to do with that brand. Even with dry skin, and being in my late 30s then, it simply did not improve my skin whatsoever. Yes, whatsoever.....even Nivea is better.

Eh, not CeraVe. CeraVe doesn't contain petrolatum and mineral oil. It's basically Nivea Creme with an added seaweed ferment extract.

Personal experience (your mileage may vary): Dickinson's toner legit ruined my skin barrier. It was way too astringent-y for me l, even though I had extremely oil cystic acne skin. It was like an oil sucking vaccum that felt gratifying in the moment. But boy oh boy was I wrong. Aaaand really wrong.

I got some free samples of la mer and it made me break out like CRAZY. Maybe because it’s geared more towards mature skin types? It gave me so many whiteheads!

Age and skin type, definitely. I buy everything from dollar tree to luxury and I just can't find anything comparable these days. I hated it when I was in my mid 20s because I was a bit more oily and didn't need something so heavy, but I tried it again like 2 years ago from a Nordstrom sample and I've had a jar on hand ever since. My last one came with the lip balm free and I wish it hadn't, lol. It lasts for like 5 hours, even with eating and drinking, and it fades into softness instead of drying out like every single lip balm I've ever tried that wasn't oily.

Nope it’s the petrolatum. My son has eczema and we use petrolatum based creams on his skin sometimes because they literally don’t let anything escape or penetrate the skin. It can be helpful for someone like my son who needs any moisture that his skin has blocked from escaping but for most people it does more harm then good.

I have rosacea so sunscreen is a religion but in my stupid years, under the sun, I always used “oil with 50 spf” (from bioderma, btw) and my neck is always paper white 💃🏽😂
