one of the most thorough & technical tests I ever seen about filaments. Brilliant.

As an engineer, I really like your approach! One thing is, I would have liked if you compared all data to the normal eSun PLA.

The results are comparable with those I did earlier (including eSun PLA or PLA+), so you can download excel files and compare any data yourself. Patreon supporters have access to summary table where all data is collected in one place (my only gift to Patreon supporters)

Great stuff as usual! They look good, shame about that layer adhesion. Can't wait to see more 😊

I get good results with the Bambu Labs PLA CF. It seems to have decent all round strength properties. Shame its so damn expensive compared to everything else.

I am pleased to see you are now using a more comparable printer. I think Esun filaments and Bambu printers will likely become a standard for most. Thank you. 👍

very thorough comparison - I only wish that you had added pla+ to this comparison. in your earlier videos it seemed to be best all around choice for strength and ease of use.

Would be easier to parse the results if vanilla pla curves are included as reference.

Your channel makes me want to setup some of my own experiments! I’m surprised the glass fibers held up a bit better in the bending test.

Perfect test as usual. Maybe it would be an idea to have the values compared with regular PLA or PLA+/META, rather than scrolling to your other ton of videos 😀

Eh, that's my only gift to Patreon supporters, the summary table with all earlier results on one place. But every result is available for download excel table sepparatly, so you don't have to watch the video, just collect those excel files one-by-one.

Your videos are always interesting and helpful to me. Thank you. Also please consider a Bambu Lab filament comparison of their PETG: PETG BASIC vs PETG CF vs PETG Translucent vs PETG Transparent. Thanks!

Hey My Tech Fun, I was always wondering if this kind of filament is dangerous to print, since CF or GF is bad for your respiratory system in other use cases. Since you have made other videos on the topic of health risks in food safety for example, would it be possible to be a topic for a future video? I am printing within my living room and therefore avoid the use of toxic materials like ASA or ABS and I am always wondering, if CF PLA would also be fine to print.

I am still quietly smiling, because the most advantage i see in these materials is the surface, and the fact when i make a product out of them and i can write the word: "carbon fiber" :D

Less PLA more engineering materials please 😊 I think people who are interested in mechanical testing of fillaments doesn’t care much about PLA. I think it’s a sneaky material niece on paper dhan it starts creeping 😃

I have to agree. There's little point in using a material that melts in the sun.

I use PLA for a lot of applications because it's the most rigid out of all "normal" materials. To get more rigidity you have to go to stuff like PC. And if you design keeping in mind the limitations, it works fine even in load bearing situations.

These additives have almost no benefit for PLA... much better suited for other polymers imo.

Depends on the usage of your prints. Both reduce bending and heat resistance do improve significantly. It makes PLA even suitable for outdoor use. I use pla-gf a lot for outdoor use. After a year the normal PLA objects loose lots of their strength, with glasfiber the will be as strong as the new ones.

So other than cosmetic differences in the CF it’s inferior in strength in every way to regular everyday PLA.
Wait, What? PLA is Stronger Than Carbon-Fiber Nylon?
