Mr BB King loved Elvis: 'Before Elvis we had Little Black Sambo, separate black restrooms and water fountains, and colored events that kept us away from the whites', BB King noted as he mention that Presley would attend events especially designated just for African-Americans. In June 1956, Presley ignored Memphis's segregation ordinances by attending 'Colored Night' at the local fairgrounds amusement park. The following December, King was there as Presley opened up almost unbreakable racial barriers by attending and supporting the segregated WDIA black radio station's annual fund-raising event for 'needy black children' at Memphis' Ellis Auditorium. King wrote in his autobiography that he 'liked Elvis. I saw him as a fellow Mississippian. I was impressed by his sincerity. When he came to the Goodwill Review (the event WDIA fund raisers of 1956 and 1957), he did himself proud'. 'The Goodwill Revues were important', he wrote. 'The entire black community turned out. All the DJs carried on, putting on skits and presenting good music'. In his autobiography, King said he held no grudges because 'Elvis didn't steal any music from anyone. He just had his own interpretation of the music he'd grown up on, same is true for everyone. I think Elvis had integrity'. 'If anyone says Elvis Presley was a racist', charged B.B. King in the 2010 interview. 'Then they don't know a thing about Elvis Presley or music history. 'Many nights after we finished our sets and I'd go up to his suite', King stated. 'I'd play Lucille (on Elvis' guitar) and sing with Elvis, or we'd take turns. It was his way of relaxing'. 'I'll tell you a secret', King winked and laughed. 'We were the original Blues Brothers because that man Elvis knew more blues songs than most in the business - and after some nights it felt like we sang everyone one of them." 'Let me tell you the definitive truth about Elvis Presley and racism', The King of the Blues, B.B. King said, 'With Elvis, there was not a single drop of racism in that man. And when I say that, believe me I should know'.

I loved this movie. It was perfect. I am a 87 year old man, so I was THERE when Elvis was KING. Austin Butler was great in portraying the King of rock & roll. Rock & roll may have changed a lot thru the years, but Ekvis started it all in the later 50's. And I saw it with my sister and brother. Just the three of us which made it very dear. And this is neither here nor there, but when I was a kid I loved Captain Marvel Jr comic books just like Elvis Presley did.

Do you remember the time Elvis was on Ed Sullivan & shown only from the waist up because he was "Elvis the Pelvis"? All those religious hipocrites & bible thumpers from the south deemed his gyrations not fit for family entertainment. That was on a Sunday, January 6,1957. That's the day I was born! Elvis was 21 @ rhe time, & hiss birthday was 2 days after mine, January 8, 1935

You can hear the transformation in Austins voice kind of like Elvis himself over the years . It sounds like Austin still has a bit of Elvis left in him from becoming this character the past 2 years , you can hear a clear but very pleasant difference compared to how Austin sounded in interviews before this movie . I agree with the tweet of Lisa Maria that Austin should win an academy award for his portrayal of her father ..

This is the best movie I’ve seen in a very long time! At the end it literally rips your heart out and I figured I was making a fool of myself bawling my eyes out in the theater till the lights came on and everyone was crying! Thank God for those black artists that literally had a hand in making Elvis! I’m a white girl and I love black churches! I love to hear them preach, I love the singing and the shouting! That’s real worship I’d you ask me! We have a all black church close to our house and I want to go so bad, but I don’t know how they’d react to this little white girl😂😂😂! They are my brothers and sisters in Christ and I should just go, something tells me they would embrace me❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️

Lisa and Priscilla was correct thank you Baz to get his story at least almost 100% correct. This is a story about Elvis's career. This was not one of those movies that was made to come out to tell about his life that they knew nothing about or made up to sell the movie. Now lets face it there was a couple times that they played a song at one of the venues that the song was not out yet, or it wasnt exactly at that stage; but at least it happened. Austin didnt look like Elvis, nor sound exactly like him, or move exactly like him, however Austin did an amazing job portraying such an icon. And Lisa is correct when she says so many people portrayed Elvis with stories made up with the help of those who did nothing but used him when he was alive and disrespected him after his death and used him for their own gain. And to Tom Hanks he did a great job playing Colonel

I lived down the street from Graceland in Whitehaven (The Meadow Oaks Apartments) from 1975-1977. I became friends with Elvis' uncle Vester. I visited Graceland often and spent a lot of time at the little memorabilia house at the foot of the mansion. Graceland was always particularly beautiful during Christmas. I saw Elvis several times but never got to meet Priscilla or Lisa-Marie. I am still amazed and speechless that this is a part of my history. Kudos to the movie, it brings back so many memories. Possession usually follows evil, wiccan and conjuring which could not be of Elvis as he was not evil... he believed in Christ and would not be sticking around like a ghost, though I believe his soul has departed the substance of his spirit is still with us as we remember him, and shares that through God so whatever you believe in "possession" that is not so good... One spirit to possess another spirit...He may have just been simply inspired... I dont think he stayed there a month either... Austin said he visited a couple times... Elvis did not STEAL black music, he used it. He incorporates it. He was the sum of many styles .

Elvis lived black music. Nobody can take that from him. Those who cry misappropriation are just jealous of Elvis' success. It was his true life.

@@alanunderwoodsr8622 I believe black artists were royally screwed by radio stations and record companies when it came to royalties/credit, BUT that's on them, NOT on Elvis. None of that is his fault. He liked a song, he recorded it. People need to stop with the "Elvis stole black music BS". He was inspired and mixed it with other styles to create his own sound stamp.

Little Richard credited Elvis Presley multiple times for opening up the door for black music and creating a path that he could travel and so he could make his mark. Clearly a terribly racist time Elvis put poverty and racial socialization on his platform. But he did it all through Music and his behind the scenes actions alone. He never got political and I think that’s what actually made him so powerful and able to succeed. Just read the amazing quotes by legends in the black community that were not shy in telling the world of their bonds and respect for Elvis Presley. These are my favorite ones: MUHAMMAD ALI - 'Elvis was my close personal friend. He had a robe made for me. I don't admire nobody, but Elvis Presley was the sweetest, most humble and nicest man you'd want to know. We must understand, Elvis did lot for poor people, he cared for people, he had a good heart, he just wasn't a person who was great with talent, but he was great in spirit and with God in his heart. I wouldn't praise nobody if he don't deserve it, because I am the greatest of all time in boxing, in boxing. I said boxing ! But I'm telling you, I'm Black, I'm a Islamic, I'm 100% different from you. But I’ll tell the world Elvis was the greatest of all time. I'm a Muslim who's black who stands up for what he believes. I don't have to say what I don't feel, I'm not false, I don't have to say this. I have no Bosses. I'm free. He to me, is one of the greatest singers, actors and all round men of all time.” ~ "THE GREATEST" MUHAMMAD ALI. BB KING: 'Let me tell you the definitive truth about Elvis Presley and racism', The King of the Blues, B.B. King said in 2010. 'With Elvis, there was not a single drop of racism in that man. And when I say that, believe me I should know'. -- BB KING The "GODFATHER OF SOUL" JAMES BROWN: “I wasn’t just a fan, I was his brother. He said I was good and I said he was good; we never argued about that. Elvis was a hard worker, dedicated, and God loved him … I love him and hope to see him in heaven. There will never be another like that Soul Brother”. During Elvis' private family wake, James was the LAST ONE TO LEAVE. 3 hours and 30 minutes later -- it took several of his security guards to help him out of the room. James was devastated -- James and Elvis sang Gospel together many a night to all hours of the morning at each others' homes. James Brown was considered family by the Presleys they were so close. JACKIE WILSON: "A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man's music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied from Elvis." --- JACKIE WILSON (Elvis quietly paid for Jackie's medical expenses until the day he passed away in 1977. Before Jackie's stage accident he would carry a small signed photo of Elvis in his pants pocket. Every day, bar none.) RANDY JACKSON (of the Jackson 5): "Elvis used Rock and Roll music to bridge the gap between whites and minorities. He was a wonderful person." LITTLE RICHARD "He sung my Tootie Fruti & by him singing it, made it bigger & made ME bigger" And then he said: “I thank God for Elvis Presley. I thank the Lord for sending Elvis to open the door so I could walk down the road...”- Little Richard CISSY HOUSTON: "Elvis loved gospel music. He was raised on it. And he really did know what he was talking about. He was singing Gospel all the time - almost anything he did had that flavor. You can't get away from what your roots are." - Cissy Houston (The Sweet Inspirations co-founder & member & sang vocals for Elvis, also mother of Whitney Houston)
