It makes me sad that Baz hasn’t been recognized by many of the award shows, especially the Academy. He did a phenomenal job of putting together a stunning movie and recognizing he had found his ‘Elvis’ when he saw Austin’s audition. Baz will always be this year’s Best Director to me.

I agree that Austin is a very humble and talented man and May l add very good looking 😮but l disagree that the movie brought Elvis back to us !!! I am a 75 year old senior who has thought Elvis was the Man ever since the age of 5 ‘In that era if you were a Elvis Fan you woke up loving Elvis so did most of our parents especially after Elvis went into the Army and served his country ‘My daddy had great admiration for Elvis in fact decades earlier my dad was Stationed in the same place as EP (F Germany )now when all these people are saying that the New Elvis movie brought him back to his long time long ago roots (Fans ) No No No Cause you know why ???? Elvis never left us old Fans 😮 and l am sure that Lisa Marie felt that way too “ My Goodness he was her everything her dad for god’s sake except for only her kids ‘ so how could he come back when he didn’t leave in the first place ??? Nothing against that sweet nice young beautiful “Austin l adore him ! but thats the way l know it and l am sticking to it ! God Bless America and God Bless the Presley’s 🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕🕺🕺🕺

Austin Butler's complete and insane dedication to honour Elvis work is just beyond words. How many actors out there is willing to do what Austin did in "Elvis". Even sang all the songs by himself with voice so much like Elvis. Austin is Elvis!! Brings us to tears to watch Austin as Elvis. If preventing him to receive an Oscar is because he is young and not as experience as the older Hollywood stars, then great injustice has been done to this young man and Oscar's judges are outdated. We have never watched a movie so many times and still get the chills and excitement as "Elvis". All thanks to Austin's dedication and Baz's super skill as the best director of all times.

To me Elvis is the greatest movie ever created!!! Everything about it is magical, mesmerizing, mind-blowing, perfect, etc. And Austin Butler is taking your breath away as Elvis every single time you watch the movie...he truly channeled Elvis's heart and soul and became him on screen! He deserves to get an Oscar this year without nominations, Academy should just give it to him because no one deserves it more than him. I can't even imagine how Austin did it even with the amount of work he did...the way he put all that he has in him, his heart, soul, his life in it, is truly incredible, astonishing, unprecedented! Thanks to this movie I've seen the real Elvis, the incredible, kind, caring person he was. I knew the icon and legend of Elvis but I had no idea of how (with all the happiness he had of course) tragic the latest years of his life has been, how lonely he was and how people took advantage of him...it's devastating! This movie touched my soul like no other movie did before. I've watched it many many times now, and every time I'm starting literally bawling non stop, starting from when Priscilla leaves Elvis to the very end of the movie and my heart is breaking for Elvis every time. This movie have the biggest impact on me! So thank you to each and everyone who worked on it for gifting us this MASTERPIECE!!!

John Lennon said it best. "Before Elvis, there was nothing". That's not a knock on black musicians who heavily inspired him. It means that there was no individual who stood out, who took dares, who caused controversy, who broke down color barriers and crossed political and religious lines, and who singlehandedly changed the world before like Elvis did. Without Elvis there would have never been a Rock and Roll movement that lead to the rise of the Civil Rights movement that introduced to the world MOTOWN and Dr. King. People today, especially black people, have no idea just what all Elvis went through, the abuse he took, and all he accomplished and how it made everyone's lives in America better. Without Elvis there would have never been a Michael Jackson, especially since he took most of Elvis's moves, or a Prince, or The Beatles or Garth Brooks or Beyonce, etc. Everything that is done today goes back to Elvis. EVERYTHING! It's almost biblical when you take a good deep look at it. This is also why he's the most admired, most loved and also the most hated due to misunderstanding and jealousy.

@@anyla333 it's not far fetched. Dr. King's right hand man, Andrew Young, is on record in 1965 at Congress stating that Elvis and R&R did more for race relations in America than even the church did. Elvis also received a Civil Rights honor in ATL in 1973 for his contributions. Young said that R&R opened the doors for the movement and that Elvis was the leader. Little Richard called Elvis a "champion to black music" and a "great integrator ".

And the director did a perfect combination of Elvis time, when he lived and the actual time with the old music and some actual RnB and Hip Hop Songs he moved in. The actor of ELvis is perfect. First I thought he couldn`t do it but I fell in love with Elvis again, like I was a teen years ago and my Mum showed me the Music and the Films of Elvis himself. The last Scene, with the great Elvis on his last concert singing makes me cry a lot. He looked so sad and also so happy. Elvis died, when he was my age. YOU DID A GREAT JOB, BAZ LUHRMAN!!!!

I just watched this amazing film again yesterday before the Oscars, and sat in disbelief watching the show as the movie was passed over in every category that is was nominated for. It is simply stunning that Elvis not did win for Costume Design, or Production Design or Editing. Then there is the fact that Baz did not even get nominated for Best Director, and of course Austin turned in the the authentic complete acting performance of the year, maybe of the decade. What a wonderful gift the creators of this film gave us all.

Im 100 percent behind Austin (Amazing dedication and performance) BUT credit needs to go to BAZ Luhrmann to have the grit and talent to bring this story of Elvis the phenomena to the world. Most dont get Elvis past the performer but he was so much more and many dont understand the influence he had & how it has opened the pathways to modern music and culture. I have read just about everything ever written and it has always struck me how many fans had no concept of what he was doing and did do. We wont see this happen again in my lifetime. Its been a fascinating journey started when I was 19 when Elvis died and now 46 yrs on it has all come together in this amazing feature length film and this Just a Boy from Tupelo👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

The performance of the year was Austin. He had the biggest shoes to fill and this guy devoted over 2 years to perfect everything I side and our of Elvis and he nailed it. When you are watching him you are watching Elvis live his life in front of you. The only other person who had done Elvis any justice was Kurt Russell in the 1979 made for TV movie Elvis until now and Austin not only did amazing acting out his life he also sang and did all his own Elvis stage performances. In the movie it was Austin singing and a mixture of Austin and Elvis. No one could have done it better. The academy needs to do the right thing and reward this guy with the Oscar because no one could have and didn't give such a performance of a lifetime this year for the movie they were in. Definitely head and shoulders above the rest. You deserve it Austin.

I was introduced to Elvis at age 5 first record my parents bought me, I am the same age as Lisa Marie so imagine at age 5 you recv this record for your Birthday I had no idea who this man was more less what he sounded like or what song he sang. I can remember sitting and listening to the record over and over I was blown away. I have been an Elvis fan every since that day, some people can not believe Iam such a huge fan I explain to them the reason I find Elvis so facinating is that he is the only singer I know that your become captivate with. Like Tom Hanks said it was like a comet smashing into the universe. Elvis is just electrifying , he is charming, good looking, his voice is like no other, his moves, and the fact he was such a rebel and didnt let anyone stop him from what he loved. Think about it how many entertainers, and just fans is still copying him. Elvis is so magical, memerizing, how could you not love Elvis. Austin didnt look like Elvis, move exactly like him, sound exactly like him; but I will say this he did such justice to Elvis in this movie this is the best Elvis movie I have seen I have to say thank you to Baz that you covered as much as you could not only on his life but what most people never seen his relationship between Tom Parker and the pressure the love he had for his fans put on him.

I grew up with the odd Elvis song playing but this film, it changed my life. Not a day goes by where I don’t play at least 5 of his songs, I dress like he did, I move like he did, that man changed everything.

Wonderful point Baz makes...it's absolutely astounding all that Elvis did in his short life. Not only in terms of his cataclysmic impact and his accomplishments (number one hits and so on) but just everything that he did! He recorded 700+ songs, starred in 33 movies, did 757 Vegas-Nevada shows, did 917 concerts (240 cities/41 states). It's like he was superhuman. How does someone do all of that in 22 years? (1955-1977) -Songs recorded: 700 + -Movies: 33 -Vegas - Nevada Shows: 757 -Concerts: 917
