The Lost Marriage (1999) - We offer a rare glimpse of the conflict between Eritrea and Ethiopia, unified for years but now at war, from within Ethiopia.

For those who remember a proud regional union, the failure of the partnership is a cruel blow. Although Ethiopia's 60 million people outnumbers Eritrea by twenty to one, they both suffer from an economic meltdown caused by disputes over resources that lie in the border region. They have also been hit hard by famine. Nobody understands why they've engaged in this "crazy war" or why they chose such a time to do it. The people cry out for money to go towards food, not war. Meanwhile, gunsmoke pops in the baking air amidst the trenches and around the remains of soldiers’ uniforms. The long term future of the region has been plunged into chaos.

It is now popular to hate TPLF because the Abiy & Isias regime have teamed up to destroy TPLF. Fair enough if you hate TPLF, but don't let your hatred change the reality of history. The first aggression in the 1998 war came with the Eritrean invasion of Ethiopia.

The situation in Tigrai is a hundred times better than that in Eritrea even after the Tigrai war of 2020-2022. Eritrea is hell.

Guys this is an upload relating to the 1999 war. What's going on now is that Tigray state has attacked Eritrean capital Asmara for helping Ethiopian forces push on Tigray. Ethiopia and Eritrea are at peace!

Yes but the TPLF was the main cause for this war and it was fought in Tigray. So it is related. I'm sure that the Ethiopian military has changed a lot since this time also.

This is Eritrea vs Tigray war nothing to do with Ethiopia. Eritreans are truly great fighters they were outnumbered by 100000000 but still hold their ground n came out ON Top.

They didn't come out on top, lol. Ethiopia took Badme and pushed deep into Eritrean territory. There is a reason for why Badme was occupied by Ethiopia, until Abiy decided to give it back.

The International Hague Courts have given A verdict that those are Eritrean lands. Which means it was an invasion by a bigger state on a smaller one. 🇪🇹is a landlocked Huge Federal state made up of diverse ethnicities and this invasion was for annexing🇪🇷 to gain sea outlet. #Eritrea #Peace #Badme #Ethiopia

My playlists are of thousands of videos and its difficult to keep them managed when they keeping deleting an reposting stuff. Btw I have lots of Intresting african war documentaries. If you want any of a particular conflict I can send links for my recommendations. My continent sadly has too much killing, I have met some veterans or relatives of veterans of certain wars. I feel that our wars are often forgotten and also not appreciated for military tactics etc which is really mistaken.

This video is old from 1998 war. Abby came to power 2018 and solved this war by accepting the result of the Algiers peace Agreement between the governments of Eritrea and Ethiopia which a previous government in Ethiopia refused to accept. That's why Abby get Nobel Peace Prize.
