I respect the writers and directors for at least attempting to explain why the Oracle looks different. Most movies wouldn't do that.
@devontehuntley62742 жыл бұрын
That's because they're not dealing with elements within the story that could account for the change like this movie does or a movie like the last one Heath Ledger was in that dealt with magic in which the actors that filled in his role during parts he couldn't do is explained away through magic changing his appearance. But I will admit, Hollywood needs to do a better job recasting characters because they don't even bother to get actors that remotely resemble the previous one apart from race. Then there's little to explain and we can just buy the character aged a bit or just ignore the subtitle differences but still buy this is the same person. This series here with the Oracle gets a pass since I like Mary Alice and think she did a good job and since we're dealing with computer programs, I can get around a digital being looking drastically different if need be for protection or a punishment.
@livingcorpse56642 жыл бұрын
@@devontehuntley6274 Its not just a matter of trying to find an actor who looked like the previous one but also if they are a good actor. Not impossible but hard to find someone who both looks like the previous actor and can act when on a tight schedule which a lot of movies are.
@devontehuntley62742 жыл бұрын
@@livingcorpse5664 Movies often take a while to start shooting so they have time. There's like a million actors out there they can fine one that could fit the bill. They just don't try hard enough and frankly I always see people that don't even look like the previous actor in a recast role. There's so many actors I come across that could have made good replacements in something from who was actually cast and I'm like, "Why didn't they go with this person?" like a missed opportunity. Ghostbusters Afterlife had the Gozer character return and the replacement looks JUST LIKE the original in the make-up and everything. Now that is how you do it. Johnny Depp was replaced in the new Fantastic Beast movie and I bet you the new guy is going to have a different look and make-up completely. I hope they explain his appearance different with magic since this is a fantasy movie.

Despite the film and this scene explaining it that way, I don't look at it that literally. I see it more as like the Oracle being a program that got slightly corrupted "in transit" of whatever it is she had to do, and then changed some when her program was recovered. Yes mostly it was her shell (i.e., UI) that changed but some portion of her personality went along with it, despite what she tells people. She's either lying because that's what Morpheus, Trinity, Neo and Niobe needed to hear...or her new program genuinely believes that she hasn't changed. The other thing to add is that she may be more serious now because things are far more dire than before.

@@WhiteRabbitDave why I learned this just now? I have a lot to watch!
@WhiteRabbitDave3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMrTumbs Go for it! If you have PS2 somewhere you can play the game (or just use a computer it's an old game so it doesn't need a crazy good computer in comparison with current standards). The thing is that The Matrix trilogy is a relatively early exercise in transmedia storytelling therefore the game, Enter the Matrix, is like the fourth film. This means that all instalments of the meta-narrative (war with machines and the return of the One) are comprehensible and self contained narratives (stand alone releases complete to a degree). These would be the first, the best film, the sequels (they're basically one film shot back to back so they need to be watched together for comprehension of Revolutions), The Animatrix, comic books or Enter the Matrix. They're available in different media and you can watch, read or play them on their own and they make sense however you get the most of them if you get the whole package. So the first film would be like an ur-text, you have the mandatory exposition or rules of diegesis of the meta-narrative outlined there. Then there's the Animatrix where two episodes specifically set either a narrative or its element for the sequels. Comic books expand on The Animatrix and therefore on the whole world of The Matrix. For example there's an event in The Animatrix, a murder case which leads to the war with machines but in the comic book you actually witness B166ER murdering its human masters. After The Animatrix and comic books (vol 1 and vol 2) you have sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions where we meet captain Niobe. Her character gets her own exposition, as well as a detailed narrative arch, in Enter the Matrix game. It take place during the sequels and expands both on the world as well as significant developments of the cinematic trilogy in regard to choices made by characters. Additionally, if you play game twice, once as captain Niobe and once as the first mate on Logos, Ghost, you get to see the events unfolding during the game from two, slightly different perspectives. Go for it!

It's very much integral and coherent. The Oracle knows how the things usually go as this wasn't the first time the One occurred. However, Neo is different. Neo truly makes his own choices. Not only that, but she wears red both INSIDE the Matrix, AND in the “real world”/Zion. The others, except for Switch (who wore white while IN THE MATRIX only), wears black INSIDE the Matrix, but regular shabby, generically colored clothing while in the “real world”/ Zion. Now, I wonder.... why do you suppose is the significance of that? Hmmmm? 🤯 It. Is. Not. By. Mistake. Or. Coincidence. I assure you.

Red clothing worn in Zion means a captain of a ship in Zion fleet. She is not the only one to wear red in Zion. Additionally, Ballard, Soren, etc. wear red inside the Matrix as well. Of course, red is a cinematic sub-code with meaning specific to the diegesis of The Matrix trilogy however you are wrong pointing out incorrect details. Keep looking down the rabbit hole, you have all the time in the world. It is also not true that the rebels wear exclusively black clothes. In the sequels Morpheus wears purple.

These Elderly Grandma like SimCity Multi-Players Multi-Telefones, will actually chop the children into pieces with Partners and Schemers just to remain in the gameplay, to hack their way into survival hijack the gameplay.

They can essentially, take full control, of almost anyone, within SimCity. If they want to. As some of these SimCity players, after playing SimCity, go to wash dishes, go to other places, when not playing SimCity, when those within SimCity are in pain, in bad situations, etc. They know this, and they refuse to shut down SimCity. They come up with all sorts of Sin Gameplays, Bible/Religious Books Gameplays, to justify playing in SimCity, not shutting down SimCity.

I liked these movies, but they seem clumsy and irrelevant now. Not sure wny.

Lol, are you saying that The Matrix (1999) is clumsily done? Also, this clip isn't from any of the films. It's from a game.

The philosophical dialogue in both the sequels is terrible. Constant wannabe intelligent conversations like this every few minutes. It tries to present itself as being really deep and profound but when you boil down the conversations and actually think what they are saying it's basically a load of pretentious nonsense.
