I have been playing this game just under 10 years now and I have seen the AI doing some pretty weird and random stuff and I love it when the AI does something random and just watching it figure out how to get unstuck

This is what I love AI traffic in ETS and ATS. Really. It is unpredictable like in real life. You never know what can heppen on the road 😉

I know I'm going to run into a lot of headwind with my comment, but I'll try to explain it anyway: An imperfect AI is perfect for a game like this. Because: Most of the moments that can be seen in the video also happens in real life every single day. Moreover, this non-smooth AI also makes the game and the world feel alive, which definitely adds more to the authenticity than NPCs that would just be pulled along the roads in lockstep like robots or soldiers. In addition, the SCS NPCs are able to resolve accidents so well and so quickly, like in almost no other indie game designed in this way. Not to mention that the fairy tale of a "perfect" or a "realistic" AI doesn't exist in any game anyway. The only big problem, which unfortunately still exists, is the behaviour on slip roads when the lanes merge. Zipping was probably out a in the AI driving school. So as long as this doesn't happen too often, it's not a problem for me because I see it more as a feature than a bug. And always leave the config/console at 1 (higher values are not correctly calculated) and don't activate too many traffic mods ;) Btw: Good video, I would like to see it more often!

Starting from 3:40 Some of you might see that as a glitch but that is just so close to a real life road rage. The car first hits the car due to the bus hard braking or the cars in ability to slow down in slow moving traffic, then the car gets out of lane moves upfront beside the bus, stays there, and when the bus moves, the car moves also. Well if you imagine, the cars driver was pissed at the bus driver, the car was only missing an animated person shouting and cursing at the bus. other than that the car did what any driver on a road rage would do, Block traffic until he curses out his anger. If I might ask, were you using a traffic mod on that situation? Any map mods too? Because if that was a stock map with stock AI traffic, I would like to falsely hope SCS is doing something in the background?

2:00 yep! i learned never to follow these things too close.

I swear the A.I are getting dumber.. I have got to the point where I know what will happen and how often it is going to happen. Like there will always be a lorry going 60kph, around the 5th or 6th corner or just before an important junction (on the flat with on hills around, for no reason at all 60kph) and that lorry will cause a pile up of dumb A.I cars. That will slow down to 56kph before speeding up and pulling into the fast lane. Once in the fast lane they will spend 4-5 seconds matching the speed of the lorry (60kph) before shooting off 60kph - 120kph in about 3 seconds. This whole situation is very frustrating because that would never happen. Also SCS seriously needs to fix the Merging problem. The slip-lane on a motorway is so the vehicle can closely match the speed of traffic before pulling out safely. BUT NO SCS traffic use the slip-lane as if it was a yield sign causing the the traffic ON the motorway to completely stop and let them merge! This issues need fixed!!! Huge immersion killer!

Once thing that happened 3 times to me today is that I was on the highway and a truck was on the highway entrance and he changed lanes while he was on the right side of me and crashed into me

I still remember when I was at 1.31, in an autopist and then a car moved from a way to other and another car was behind it so they crashed

There are two type of randomness: First is random moment by AI Traffic, and Second is random moment by Player itself. And yes, if you turn the random events very right, there are many random moments like random accident.

7:57 Roundabout: "I'm about to end this man's whole career." I laughed out loud, because so much of this has happened to me. I guess it really isn't just me that sees the AI do ridiculous merges and cause a wreck. Actually I like this in the game, it does keep you on your toes, but it can be annoying if you have no alternate route around a clogged roundabout.

thats why we need the ai to also be forced to pay if they crash into us, instead of us paying for something they did.

Have been playing this game since some time & i already have leveled to legend long ago plus i have in total 25 scania trucks... My own the Scania 730S, others scania 520. I have personally found all these problems in the game. But seriously just last month i downloaded ATS & its more thrilling than ETS, country roads, graphics, gameplay, its more fun than ETS2. I love both ❤️

My more recent highlight was in Ats. In Flagstaff there is a train crossing just before a traffic light. So one Ai truck pulled onto the crossing while the traffic light was red. Well you know what happend next...the crossing activated. Let's just say it was quite the sight LOL

Just purchased this game ago like a 1 month ago then this happen to me the Ai randomly crashes ( even there’s no thing in the road ) then spawning back like no ones happen pretty weird

One of the random things the AI cars do is crash into your truck even if your signal indicator is turned on, and you end up paying a fine.

J'm training every day on real roads with a real truck to avoid these kind of unexpected events in my sim ! Luckly, reals automobiles drivers are much more inovative when it comes to doing stupid things !

*My comments* : *1st one* happen alot of times, more like always, the AI would slow down because of the incident only if the AI was next to it, even in real life you'll find people do the same even tho its only a police pulling over a car or trucks *2nd one* happen alot of time mostly because of the AI wanted to go straight continue his delivery meanwhile his lane (the right one) was going out of the highway which mean to the city that's reasonable but its also so sudden like ahhhh *2nd part 2* one he was stopping because of the car changing lane too so yuh but its odd cuz i dont really get that alot *3rd one* i mean that mod is good since you know that those bridges was not just a solid wooden bridges that stand still like it was made out of cement or sum of that stuff *4th one* Never saw a car tailgate-ing other AI lmaoo *5th one* Wtf that car got no brakes lmao, i've saw some AI going fast like that even tho i was changing lane and so it hit my trailer but into other AI?? What AI mod it is? I have never seen that huge mistakes of AI in my game. The biggest "mistake" is when everyone on main road slows down to let me go, but doesn't actually stop so it's pointless.
