Moldavia as a vassal is big game changer. If you get Moldavia sieze Basarabia and you have cossack estate. You start with 20% CCA, add 20% from cossacks, some other bonuses from estate and Ottomans are no match, you crush them with superior cavalry

Easily my favorite nation in the game. Hungary is in such a great position to flip the script and become a powerhouse in Europe. I remember your guide on them from a few years ago helped me defeat the ottomans, become emperor and get an insane vassal swarm such a fun campaign I highly recommend.

I recomend, and I think it's the best way to play Hungary, Merc ideas + Inno+Diplo+Admin. This gives you insane tech cost, adviser cost with all you need in a campain. also any other idea would give you good policies.

In detail, Merc + black army reforms mak your mercs army insanely good, especially during reformation age, inno would provide you with good policies, diplo would give you dip rep for becoming emperor of HRE and +2 dip relations with merc. And admin would make your mercs very cheap.

I strongly agree with this assessment. For new players though, note that this only applies to those with DLCs. For no reason I can understand, the extra policies aren't working without DLCs for Innovative ideas, despite it being a vanilla mechanic.

@@connormcgee4711 for new players, the best thing is, you don''t need to worry about mp even during the hardest wars. Just disband one mercs and hire another. Even if it means taking one or two loans.

IMO there are certain nations that are bonkers with Mercs, and Hungary with the Black army is definitely one of them. Since you're going for a fast expansion playthrough, the idea group lets you fight much more readily with super cheap and powerful armies.

Independent Christian monarchy. In my current run Naples switched to republic after i libreated them from Spain, and had to convert them to a monarchy before i could PU them

In my play through I converted to orthodox and culture shifted to Greek. Kept the Hungarian ideas but welcomed to Byzantine missions. So many possibilities with Hungary.

Hey Red Hawk, I know you were doing the map games for a while, idk if there is one but if so you should try to do one of the 1444 map of eu4. Even just Europe would be cool. Try to name all of the countries in the HRE and pick them out on the map

I'd love to see a great horde into golden horde guide. Been trying to get that achievement for over a year and something stupid always ruins my run. Wither Ottoman are warning me, muscovi guaranteeing ryazan at the start, or Ottos protecting Crimea, somethign always goes wrong :'(

I don not recommend to click on missions which give claim on Wlachia and Serbia until you can start war. If you have claim the Ottomans more likely garantie them. If you start improving your relation with Moldavia from the begining you will get them (the best if you have better relation with them than Poland).

Pls. do Ming next, I try the new achievement. Oriat, Muscovy, Denmark Union build Heavys and get England looks doable. But Oriat kills me all the time never play the location or with mandat so please help.

In my first try of this game, i could not follow most of this 'guide' -couldn't get alliance/royal marriage with either the Papal state, Burgundy or Muscovy on day 2 or beyond that: too many relations -wallachia went fine -war with serbia was screwed up because of the alliance with Byzantium, which Otto declared on before i finished Wallachia. -otto's took Zeta, Ragusa took Hercegovina and was still guaranteed by Otto. So many things rely on this run through being close enough to yours for this guide to work properly. Sure i can adapt and take other alliances etc, but then i'll miss out on certain PU's and other opportunities that makes your claim come true of becoming the dominant eastern power

I remember my first successful Byzantium run was all thanks to Hungary and Muscovy, so it hurt when Hungary broke their alliance with me 😢 cause they wanted my land (I’d have given you all of Poland but you greedy AI wanted the Balkans), I even refused to expand northwards because of them XD

I'm sorry man, but I have to disagree with your second Idea Group pick. If you play with a cavalry nation and pick Aristocratic first, you are contractually required to pick Espionage next for even more Cav combat ability from the policy. Them are the rules.

In my new Hungary campain, I got the PU over Austria before 1460. János Hunyadi died without an heir, Ladislaus Postomus inherited the Hungarian throne. In Austria, however the ruler was still alive at that time. After his death, he gave the throne to Ladislaus, so Austria came under the Hungarian crown. The French wanted to prevent this, but they had no chanse. At the end of the war, I also took one of his vassals from him. I have already taken little Bulgaria and constantinaple out of the Ottomans. Now I'm about to attack bohemia and poland, and force PU from them. After that I will return to France to expand my little vassalage. Does this kind of reverse PU often happen with Austrians?

As soon as I got the borderlands of bohemia, it's rival Austria immediately PUed them and Moldavia got invaded by the Ottomans by being allied to someone who also got invaded in Turkey. But I got Muscovy as a PU and so i waited for Poland to invade the rest of the western Baltics and then took Krakow and a few other valuable provinces like the rare dyes province in southeastern territory of Poland and then PUed them with Lithuania. later got the PU on Austria after invading the Bohemia area Almost got Spain and managed to get family ties with them at one point. All before the end of the 17th century. I'm so OP with Spain as an Ally I can take out the entire northern Africa, the massive Ottomans (spanning half of turkey all of Arabia, Egypt and Sudan), also massive Timerids (who didn't collapse) and Uzbek at the same time around 1650. Me and Spain both have 2500 development leading over other nations by at least 1000 development.

I have to disagree, you should be going after Ottomans much earlier than only after puing Poland and Bohemia. You let them get far too big and my opinion and if you can stop them from capturing Constantinople you very much hamstring their progress.

you don't really need all that forts. Maybe if you were to rush ottomans like 1450's but in late XV century with so many personal unions it's waste of money. Hungary is on itself poor.
