I have two little extra moves for right at the start - Just for anyone who likes to min/max Give out the clergy the monopoly on wine This gives you 1 mercantalism and 42 ducats - but the only provinces with wine are the two Gascon ones So when you release Gascony the privledge is automatically cancelled Second you can grant Maine, Bourdeaux and Labourd seats in Parliament and issue the edict for additional manpower recruitment in their states This means you get extra manpower when you exploit them and because you are getting rid of those states anyway - this helps a bit with levy the troops

The only potential issue with the Parliament edict is that some others, such as crown land, are arguably better. That being said, that Gascon/Wine monopoly move is brilliant, never thought of it before.

It's strange as I find that the coalition doesn't trigger on regular but will do on ironman mode, even with the same difficulty levels. tbh, there's not a huge difference between getting the PU straight away and doing something like this. The main issue for England is mid game. If you haven't crushed Spain by around 1550, it can be hard to expand against their colonies as while England can make strong allies on the continent, those allies won't join you in wars and Spain and Portugal are two peas in a pod in this game. It's pointless making allies as England mid game as non will actually join your wars against Spain but they will constantly call you into theirs

I remember my craziest England start. Naturally gained a PU over Austria (surprised me, didn't aim for it), forced PU over France and that was all within 10 years. 10 years later had all of the British Isles. Never had a luckier start. Also, always go House of York... although that might be cause I am from York and the white rose is still a symbol of pride here.

Hey Ludi just start one campaing as GB last week in 1.33. Its easy to maintain France as Pu on the first war, you only need to improve relations with half of europe while the war

Good guide, I've been thinking of an England to Rome game and some of this will help. I especially like the idea of making England Irish, regardless of in game benefits. My first game was conquering Britannia has Ireland.

I believe that when it says that there is going to be a succession war, the first nation listed is the one that actually get the PU and the other listed is the one that has the option to go to war for it.

You can try two things: First, don't attack during the War of the Roses. Those Pretenders are gonna ruin your life... Second, you can go bankrupt after the initial war against England. No one but England will attack you and right after the war you should have a 10-15 years truce, so enough time to recover from the bankruptcy. Just hire as many mercs as you need to dunk on England and go bankrupt afterwards ;)

So little trick for the mission Strategic Control. If Burgundy occupies Paris, you can click it as well. If you dump on France this hard, they generally go for it.

In my current run, I got coalition blocked from finishing Ireland until 1480, was a tad frustrating, got thick aragon and brandenburg under pu by 1580 though, so its not all bad

shouldn't the move with toulese be to regain the cores from France, use favors to return core from aragon, sieze that core and release Catalonia and then use favors further on aragon? assuming of course you have a later inheritance.

If you have saved AE from not taking extra land from French, vassalizing Scots and doing all of this under 100 years war mission bonus you could have transfered lowlands PUs from burgundy with era bonus - as they are transfering as vassals instead of pus it seems much more meta to me than some schnitzel-land from South France

Anytime I have used trade favors for heir they always get rid of the heir. Assuming its does dis inherit either that or the heir dies super fast. Seems to always happen. Never had it succeed once

I've seen you separate peace the minor nations in Ireland. It is better to get them via the main war target so you won't lose the ~12 diplo points (considering you have a bad leader at start). For those 10-20 ducats it is not worth it considering you have a lot of ducats from trade as England.

I took the early PU over France without major issues. It didn't take much effort to get them loyal, and the AE isn't serious enough with good allies (Castile and Austria plus sometimes if not rivaled Burgundy) which are easy to get.

Could you do a video trying to get the most out of vassals? I recently dod a run with Ireland where I turned Scotland, Northumberia, Wales and Cornwall into vassals and then took ideas/policies that boosted their income and troop contributions. I now have a troop limit of 183k and I dont even have quantity ideas. they give me all their trade power and are super loyal. They also help out loads in wars. I wonder how England would fair doing the same with Ireland, Gascony and Normandy. Having big but loyal vassals that act as Allies that always help, never leave you and give you all their tax income and trade power.

Love your videos but what happens at 5:37 when the manpower pool leaps from around 11800 to 16 400? To reach that number I have to exploit the manpower dev in all English provinces as well. Did you do that and edit it out?

@@murekznazur i managed to get 32 dev in london with concentrates If you exploit development in ALL you provinces you can manage to get to 16k, but then you lose the manpower while fighting the irish, and when the war of roses fire, i get 0 army

By exploiting the rest of the british isles. Go to building screen, bottom tab. Exploit every single province that you can.

Depending on your allies and your luck with heirs it's not impossible to make getting the france PU early a breeze. If you're lucky enough that burgundy is friendly, you can call them in and crush france easily. The alliance with them prevents a large nation from joining the coalition as well. England is in the prime spot to ally Castile, Austria, Denmark, and Poland. Any combination of those will prevent the coalition war from firing.

I ended up getting the PU through the mission rather than the surrender of Maine. Did have a coalition form, but because I managed to ally Castile and Austria, the coalition never actually bothered to try and stop me. The rest of the game was comically easy, and I had most of North America colonized, Egypt, Australia, South Africa, and 1/3 of India by 1650. Beat the crap out of Spain and the Ottomans regularly. I'm planning to soon turn on Austria and destroy the HRE before 1700. Best game ever bar none

Should I destate normandy too? Even when I do that I only end up with 27 development in london before exploiting (from destating/concentrating gascony and normandy)... how did you get 30? then I have to recore normandy and I don't have enough admin to core ireland and to recover to 0 stability from the war of the roses HELP MEHH

yeah I am seeing the same thing... Not only that in one screen change he suddenly get 5k more manpower and it has been one day 5:35-5:40... assuming he gets 30 which i cant figure out I have 0 idea how he got an extra 5k in one day

Has anyone try Oirat or Manchu? I think the new update cause like the end of Ming-plosion. It seems they reduce the size of revolts at least to the AI so even when the mandate at 0 Ming is still alive and well. This been quite an annoyance for the average me who usually do everything to wait for Ming to collapse to go and feast on it corpses. One game I play as Jianzhou and one I play as Oirat both I manage to conquer Beijing and reduce the mandate to 0. So I wait and wait and wait till like 1500s and still there are no collapse from Ming. Geez.

i exploited every province. I did it to also lower landforcelimit so i dont need to hire anymore units to do the mission

Does anyone know how to fix the extended timeline ai problem. After 6 months the ai stops moving. It makes the game booring.

PU France is easy , hire mercenaries and get an alliance, finish the war of the roses war in the same time and you get -10 ag exp (try to get the papacy also). I've done this so many times ... this is the best first move in the game , After this war go for Byzantium and you just removed the 2 biggest nations !
