Just purchased Eufy cam 2. One camera has a direct line of sight with my homebase and is 40 feet away. Signal strength is very good. 2nd camera is about 20 feet away and goes thru an outside wall. This camera also has very good signal strength. So far, I'm very happy with its capabilities, clarity, motion detection and alerts. Too early to tell how good the battery life is.

Great video! I have 5 Arlo 1st generation cameras and I’m wanting to upgrade to something else. As someone else commented here, I too am interested in how far away from the hub a camera can be and still work. With my Arlo I actually have one camera about 150’ away with a freestanding garage between the hub and camera. The signal is weak but still works...most of the time.

Just got the Eufy 2. Wish I had seen your video before setting up. Great video. Got lots of good info. I had the Arlo Pro 2 and was unhappy with the door bell and monthly charge. So really like the Eufy system.

I found the Eufy system to be much better than the Arlo Pro 2 in my usage. Arlo suffers from poor battery and latency. Glad you found this video helpful, thanks for watching! 🙏

Everything seems to work really well, but I'm not getting any notifications of human, or all movement even when I chose the maximum level of detection. Not sure what's happening. Regards

My Eufy is awesome. It doesn't alert when our Old Glory waves with the wind, but whenever a "human" is detected, it detects them. Great product.

I'm so happy to see wireless cameras coming to HomeKit. Too bad we still have to have a base stationn, but it definitely seems like a worthwhile investment.

Basestation allows for local storage of footage, so no plans. In this case a basestation is a plus.

Great video and I’m going to get a set of these now based on this review! Quick question- I have a smart bulb in my back porch lamp that automatically comes on at sunset but I don’t have it set to be very bright (only about 50%). Wonder if it’s possible to set an automation to increase brightness if the camera detects motion? Might be a good way to deter an intruder. Thanks again for a great video!

🤔 Good question. There is a motion detector on camera and I’ve used it to turn on lights, only at night, and to turn them off after 15 minutes. I don’t currently have smart bulbs that dim to test. If dimming/brightness is an option in the automations section in the Home app then I’m sure it’s possible under HomeKit. Thanks for watching!

Watched your video before buying it was a big help in deciding which sec cam to buy. Got my first cam and Homebase added but on checking battery charge it was only at four percent. So just to let you know cams may not be fully charged when purchased as you mentioned in your video.

Great review. I like to know if Eufy have update for the home base to use the USB for external storage like a thumb drive? I just want more storage than just the internal non removable 16gb on the Eufy Cam 2. Thanks.

Great video on setting up Euky 2 my short list is between this one and Blink XT2 and a lower price but I think I'll spend the extra money and purchase the Euky 2 , review on the Blink XT2 are good but I question the battery life . I'm hoping the Euky 2 gets close to 365 days as advertised

If you’re using HomeKit, you will not get 365 days. If you’re placing these in high traffic areas, you will likely not get 365 Days. I believe the 365 Days was under some restrictive environments. I think it’s possible but not for most users. Thanks for watching!

Hey Rey G I'm really torn on the eufycam 2 and eufycam E so I wanna ask if you had to choose between the 2 or E what one would you choose cause I have to run a 5 cam set up it would really help on my decision thank you again and keep up the great work

Hi Jose, easy decision for me, EufyCam 2 hands down and if HomeKit is important to you then EufyCam 2 or 2C are the only Eufy cameras compatible with the platform. Also, the E has an SD card for storage (up to 128GB) while the 2/2C rely on internal memory plus there is a USB port which will allow the connection of USB devices to store recordings on as well (coming soon). 2 has better image quality, low light sensitivity and AI (people/face detection). The EufyCam 2 is about $50 more but the added features are worth the extra $$$ IMHO. EufyCam 2 occasionally goes on sale so I'd keep an eye out for a price drop. Good luck and thanks for watching!

Todd Sghabi Yes, you’ll only need the HomeBase connected via Ethernet for initial set-up. Once setup you can configure it for wi-fi connection and place it anywhere you have good wi-fi signal.

Hi Rey. Thanks for the video. I'm after a camera to record my new house construction build. Naturally I won't have wifi available or the ability to use a base station. Features I would want are long life battery, ability for battery to be charged via solar panel permanently plugged in, for an image/photo to be captured every say 5 mins and placed on local SD storage (or sent via 3G/4G SIM to Cloud or FTP or Email), and optionally human motion sensor recording for say 20 secs and again either stored locally or sent via SIM. Local storage needs to accept say 256GB or 512GB card as I'd want to have images/recordings for 6 months as I'd be placing camera on roof of neighbours single storey home for the duration of the build. Can you recommend anything?

Thanks Rey for your video. I am thinking to get one but there is one info that I'd like to know. Does it do continuous recording and for how many hours or days? On your video it says 16 GB only. On my car cam I have 32GB and it can video record for 12 hours only and then it goes into loop recording. Does it mean what happened few days ago I wouldn't be able to go back to look at it? Yes, if you have an account under the native app you should be able to receive notifications remotely. Under HomeKit you will need a HomeKit hub like an Apple TV, HomePod or iPad. Thanks for watching.

Great review. I currently use the Arlo system, as it supports HomeKit, setup schedules and has Geofencing. Does the Eufy 2 have Geofencing and schedule setup? and can it be implemented on two mobiles? With the Eufy 2 as you are the main account holder, how do you add a second, third person on the house to view the cameras? Do you need to add them in the app, for them to create a account or can anyone with the login details login at the same time without one or the other being logged out?

Rey G looks like he mounted the actual cam under an eave and the panel out in the open. I actually found a mount clamp on Amazon that will allow you to mount the panel on a gutter....no drilling.

Ron H, here is what to search for the gutter mount. I think I saw someone reverse it online and it worked fine: Wasserstein Weatherproof Gutter Mount Compatible with Spotlight Cam Battery with Universal Screw Adapter - Best Viewing Angle for Your Surveillance Camera (Black) If you do it and it works, let me know. I haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Yes you can view live feeds with either 2 or 2C via HomeKit. When HKSV is available you’ll be able to set parameters for when it records as with any HKSV camera on the market, which, as of this writing, is the Circle 2 and Netatmo Welcome.

I can't get my home base to recognize the internet without it being hooked up to the router. Any suggestions? I set it up while it was hooked up to the router and everything went good but as soon as I unhooked it from the router it will it says everything is offline. I thought it was supposed to be able to run not being hooked up to the router.

Via Homekit, in case of an trigger event on the camera, can homekit turn on some homekit lights instead pf doing an alarmsound or alarmsound + lights on?

The alarm sound setting is triggered via the native app. The motion detector can be used to create an automation to turn on the lights under HomeKit, I have mine doing just that. Thanks for watching!

Which do you suggest? A doorbell vs Pro 2K cam for front door security. I ordered a Pro 2K hub with 2 cameras I also ordered 2 more Pro 2K cameras and a door bell cam.

Nice video. I like your presentation style. I have Arlo 2 setup and need to ditch it. Latency is crazy and many times I can't connect to back yard camera despite hub being 15 feet away from camera. Any issues with performance issues like this with Eufy? Thanks.

I have installed Arlo Pro 2’s at my father’s home and noticed that latency is really bad with those. That’s what turned me towards EufyCam 2. In my experience the performance is MUCH better than Arlo. Thanks for watching!

@@ReyG_HKSH Just got rid of the Arlo 2s and installed the EufyCam 2s. Much better! Arlo 2 experience for me was too much latency. Rarely, if ever, was I able to stream live video right after an alert. I attribute this to the recorded event being processed through the cloud at the time I want to see live feed. Eufy does not have this issue at all! Very pleased.

i really wish you showed us how to install the mounts, you covered everything visually but the physical installation which is all im having difficulty with as a 100 lb female trying to climb a ladder and hold a screw driver for the first time.

What is the quality of video and sound like? What distance does it record upto? was there a lose in clarity and how well can it capture text, license plate, is there motion distortion adn how much. I would like to see more on the functionality of the camera.

Great review, thank you, Rey. Please can you confirm how long did the battery really last? Did you get 365 days or at least 10 months? I think that would be great. Also, I presume you can install the same software on your wife's phone, daughter/son so they can all see exactly what you see? If you have Google Nest Hub 10" display will it show an alert on those? If you have Alexa FireCube will it show an alert on your smart TV?

These have lasted me between 5-6 months, BUT it’s because I have it tied to HomeKit and Secure Video. If used outside of HomeKit the battery life will likely improve. You can give users access to the cameras as needed. Thanks for watching! 🙏

@@ReyG_HKSH Well you use your phone to scan the bottom of the base so that is why I am not sure a tablet will work. Is scanning the bottom of the base necessary? By the way, the firm told me that at night their cameras only capture movement within 15 ft of the camera. A deal breaker for me.

great video Rey. can you tell me since the update in early march 2020, the status LED button is now just on or off, when I have it turned on, in the native app its always on via streaming or motion detection, but when in HomeKit its not on via streaming, but comes on when recording. my question is, is this normal? have you ever had a camera LED red light stay on permanently? I had to turn camera off and on again via the sync button...

Yes, the LED turns on when recording, my cameras do not have always on LED whether it is enabled or not, and I believe this is normal behavior. All my cameras are enabled under HomeKit.
