Euless Trinity vs. Austin Westlake: 2009 State Championship game ending.
Westlake scoring to tie the game 35-35. The next play after the kick return is driven down the field with 2 seconds left after spiking the ball. Trinity is then flagged on the spiking of the ball and moved back 5 yards for illegal procedure with 2 seconds left in the game. Trinity then goes for the game winning kick but falls short and the game heads into overtime.
Euless wins the coin toss, choose to go defense first in overtime.
Chaps can't find the endzone so settle for the field goal to take the lead 38-35. On Trinitys' the second play of there OT possesion, Euless QB throws to the endzone and is caught by WR #10 for the game winning Touchdown. Final score 41-38

What a game. Even though I'm a westlake student, I wasn't too heartbroken with the outcome because of the heart shown by both teams on that field. Congratulations.

The replay booth will soon be coming to, at the very least, the state championship game. There were a few bad calls in this game, but to end it on a bad call that decides the outcome of a game of this magnitude is simply not right. Carter never controlled that final touchdown pass.

The tradition of winning at Trinity is insane. When they had a Gatorade commerical filmed at the high school was just about as big as the state title they won that year. Even had the big tuna in the commerical.

Trinity is raw this year. number 2 in the nation outscoring opponents 261-36 in 5 games. number 1 offense and number 3 defense in Texas. we'll gladly take a rematch

@BlueMexicanRM3 Westlake held their own against trinity... first 5A state finals game to ever go in to overtime. Trinity was predicted to win 35-21 but instead 41-38...CLOSE GAME

Even IF that was an ruled an incomplete pass (which it wasn't one), but IF it was, it was only second down, we (Trinity) probably would'e scored anyways that way we were playing in that fourth quarter. Maybe not, but at least tied it up again, we weren't handed anything. 21 unaswered points to take the lead and almost win, we EARNED it

Well Pearland won 28 to 24 and Brandon Carter couldn't come down with that ball that bounced off his hands. I don't think he would have caught it, but that was a close game 28-24.

Well they weren't quiet tonight as the back to back 6A State Champion Westlake Chaparrals put a beating on #6 ranked Euless Trinity 34-14. With Trinity's scores coming late in the game against Westlake reserves. Was 27-0 at the half.

Quit baming your loss on ONE call. Blame it on failing to hold Trinitys offense down. Bame it on not holding onto a 2 posession lead after the half. Blame it on not taking advantage of not getting flagged for anything and bad clock management. Blame it on youe whole gameplay.

That flag on #52 was the ONLY flag on WL the WHOLE game only because it was so obvious the refs couldnt ignore it. With all the referee help WL received, they shouldve been able to hold onto a 14 point lead after the half.
