The reason Rue relapsed is because she saw through Jule's bs and realized she didn't actually love her. That is why she was hesitant to go on the train. The love she thought was there was gone. Therefore thread of Jules being the one protecting Rue from herself cut, she felt alone and went back to what she was.

Honestly people give Jules so much shlt for leaving, as if she doesn't have her own problems, both of them are teenagers, Rue's mom can barely handle the situation how does people expect Jules to know what to do? It's too much pressure even if you love the other person, leaving was the only answer at the moment for her i could NEVER blame her

I think jules isn’t use to being tied down to one place or person and she knows that rue depends on for sobriety so she said she loves her that’s what I think and maddie with Nate is your classic abuser abusee relationship. I believe that Jules is polyamorous. It's pretty common among trans people. We fall in love with multiple people at once and sometimes form a polycule, like a couple but with more than two people. Seems like that's what Jules wants. But I don't think that Rue does. So that makes things a little tricky to navigate. The two of them don't communicate enough about their relationship. That's discussed in the holiday specials.
