Collection video of all my Eureka! Masters of Cinema DVDs and Blu-rays.

Eureka by Nic Roeg did have a home video release on VHS rental in the UK back in 1984. I remember renting it out, but Warner Home Video who released it, only gave Eureka a very short VHS rental release.

Great look at some of the Eureka titles that would be less familiar to me. Love their Buster Keaton compilations and the presentation of their special editions and the added content and booklets. A great label for supporting the Silents ; thanks for the reviews here.

Are Eureka BDs Zoom Enabled or Disabled? I often find my Oppo 95-and especially my Pioneer Elite LX500- BD player's zoom control to be a very useful and fun tool to use-even if only briefly, to highlight aspects of scenes. While about 55% of my BD collection, from distros like Warners, Twilight Time and Kino, have zoom enabled, those like Criterion Collection, Universal, ShoutFactory and Sony have zoom disabled. But I have no Eureka BDs to know about their BD edition of "Flight of the Phoenix". Would you know if this Eureka BD release is zoomable?

Hello Greg, sorry but I don’t have zoom facility on my current player (my old Pioneer did but unfortunately that one bit the dust!) so I can’t say, but even so Euraka titles are always worth picking up. Cheers

No, I haven’t any Severin titles. I think they would have to be imported from the US of A, I think that would be a bit expensive for my pocket!

Are Eureka blu rays better in terms of quality than kino?

Yes, Eureka''s quality is better. Kino is great for the volume and diversity of its output every month, but Eureka is better because takes much more care with its releases (e.g. (Eureka's booklets are proper booklets, not a flimsy folded poster which Criterion has started doing more of) and it's not feasible to buy everything Kino pours into the boutique blu-ray market. Some people call Eureka the UK's Criterion Collection, and I can see why; there is a lot of overlap when it comes to movie selection (but it's hard to do fair comparisons when Eureka does, on average, one Masters of Cinema release every month, while CC is a snob cultural phenomenon that puts out five and therefore has the much bigger catalogue.) The UK is lucky that it has at least half a dozen boutique BD labels that put out consistent quality. I started with Criterions, but now collect Arrow, Indicator, HMV Premium Collection, Second Run and BFI (they all do something different and they all do it well). But I also buy Kino Lorbers during their sales; I can spend hours going through what they have and know that, even if picture/restoration quality isn't quite as good as it can be, there will be more than enough titles that nobody has got to compensate for it.

@@olavbjortomt1596 Thanks for answering my question! 👍🏻 I’ll go Eureka then. You mentioned Arrow video and I love their releases! I agree with your opinion of the CC and really there’s only so many releases I love from them. I’m a big horror movie fan so I have their versions of “Cronos”, “Haxan”,”Videodrome”and “The Island of Lost Souls”. I cannot believe there’s a CC release of “Armageddon” 😂😂😂 I mean my god!!
