Fantastic video Elliot! Yet another boutiques label that I need to explore and this is such a great list to get started with! I will say that I do own quite a few of them, but these look gorgeous, so double-dipping may have to be the way to go. Haha! Keep up the great work. Btw, Harakiri is so insanely great!!!

Hey Elliot! Thanks for the shoutout, that. meant a lot!! :) I am also a huge fan of Hausu, Double Indemnity and Sunrise! Especially, Double Indemnity, it instantly turned me into both a Barbara Stanwyck fan but also a fan of the great Billy Wilder! Also, I remember hearing about Harakiri being great, so I'll definitely look into that one. But the movies Punishment Park, Wake in Fright and Bakumatsu Taiyo-Den came directly out of left field, and I can't wait to check those out. In any case, thanks for making this video, and I really do hope you make another one, if that's ok with you. But hope to see more chat come from us soon!

Awesome video yet again Elliot, really like how you're delving into the various labels. Cheers for the heads up on Bakumatsu, I hadn't heard of it but I've been getting more and more into Japanese cinema and I'll need to get my hands on it someday, especially after hearing that Spritied Away reference! I also actually recently picked up the same release of Seconds and can't wait to get around to seeing it, I've heard such great things about it. Excellent choices for number 1 and 2 of your list as well, I adore both Hausu and Harakiri. I re-watched Harakiri a month or two ago and I just seem to like it more and more every time I see it, truly a great story and fantastically acted. I still need to get my friends to check out Hausu with me haha, I love it and it's definitely one that would be great to watch with a group. Great stuff mate, look forward to your next video!

An absolutely tremendous list and video. Many films that I would consider special. Masters of Cinema was my gateway label to this wonderful hobby of ours and Sunrise was the third film I watched from the label. It was a transformative experience and started a deep love of silent cinema. I’m very excited for the release of the end of the Mabuse trilogy as the others were brilliant. I’ll have to give some serious thought to my own list. Thanks :)

Nice list, I've recently just watched a bunch of these. Harakiri is indeed one that was undeniably great. I love MOC because everything you pull out is just wonderful. Are Eureka BDs Zoom Enabled or Disabled? I often find my Oppo 95-and especially my Pioneer Elite LX500- BD player's zoom control to be a very useful and fun tool to use-even if only briefly, to highlight aspects of scenes. While about 55% of my BD collection, from distros like Warners, Twilight Time and Kino, have zoom enabled, those like Criterion Collection, Universal, ShoutFactory and Sony have zoom disabled. But I have no Eureka BDs to know about their BD edition of "Flight of the Phoenix". Would you know if this Eureka BD release is zoomable?

Have you seen ‘The Year My Voice Broke’? If you enjoy Australian cinema pre Hollywood influence, very highly recommend it if you can find it. It’s been restored by the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia in 4K however it’s only out on dvd. I have upscaled that dvd release to 1080p using Topaz. If you’re interested let me know. It’s such a quintessentially Australian coming of age film set in the 60’s and based on the directors childhood. The soundtrack is beautiful, and I think you will really appreciate the film.

So many good films in this list! Kes is a great film, but I have to watch with the subtitles on because the accents are really thick for my American ear. lol (Can't mention Kes without mentioning what a jerk the brother is!)...Seconds was definitely before it's time. I always read that it wasn't a success when it came out, and I always wonder why. It's great...Wake in Fright really makes me uneasy. The locals the teacher gets stranded among are nuts. And that scene with the jeep and kangaroos is very unsettling. But all that being said, it's a film I've scene several times because it's so compelling... And Paper Moon is one of my all-time favorites. When I read about it, it always gets me that Tatum O'Neal won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar when I think she has more screen time than her dad! I hate Oscar category fraud where lead actors get nominated in the supporting category so their chances of winning increase. Still a great performance in a great film. Great selections, Elliot!

@@johnadair4693 I don't understand what you mean by "criterion copy". Of Bakumatsu Taiyo-Den? There's no Criterion release of that. I've only ever seen the hideously expensive OOP Eureka disc.

Bogdanovich's two previous movies before Paper Moon, The Last Picture Show 1971, and What's up Doc 1972, are favs. But I don't know where his head was at when he made Texasville 1990, such a disappointing follow up to, The Last Picture Show.

Hello Elliot fantastic video I have an idea maybe you could do a list of 10 underestimated gems of movies that are not as well known as they should be. I 'll look for your email back and if you like this idea I'll send you a sample of 10 movies I feel they're very underappreciated and perhaps you couldn't talk about yours and the list that I present to you as I'll be very curious to know if you're very familiar or familiar at all if you seen the movies that I list but I'll look for your message back Ciao Fulvio
