Denis Matsuev, a virtuoso in the grandest of Russian pianistic tradition, gave this remarkable recital at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. The Russian star pianist performs the complete Seasons by Tchaikovsky, one of the most popular classical works in Russia. The program also features Kreisleriana by Schumann and Three Movements from Stravinsky’s Petrushka.

A fantastic performance, wish I had been there. I’ve been listening to other recordings of Tchaikovsky piano solos for several years, they are all beautiful, but I have learnt so much from watching this recording and the interpretation. Op 37a is my goal for 2024, or at least some of it, so I’ll be returning to this recording frequently for a bit of inspiration.

Ich wurde aufmerksam auf diese Kompositionen durch die Pianistin Olga Scheps. Bin jetzt sehr erleichtert und angetan, dass es auch eine männliche Interpretation gibt, voller poetischer Kraft. Das ist moderne Pianistik in Vollendung. Meine Gratulation!

De grande presença e personalidade do piano hoje, Denis Matsuev dispensa comentários pois ele é mestre, gosto muito de ver os seus vídeos no KZfaq, fiquei muito encantado de ver e ouvir a interpretação dos meses do ano de Tchaikovsky, música na minha opiniao é léve que qualquer um que queira iniciar em ouvir música dos grandes compositores não vai se arrepender de ver a interpretação e ouvir a música de Tchaikovsky, obrigado por postar, sou de Carapicuiíba SP, Brasil, 20-12-2021-Sg-09:12hs AM

It's an etude by Jean Sibelius, Op. 76 No. 2. Funny enough it's an encore piece at some of Denis Matsuev's recitals as well so it might even be him playing it.
