I mean. San Marino is a tiny microstate that is basically a castle on top of a hill. The concept of "citizenship" to such a country is akin to being part of a small country club, fraternity or having a casino VIP membership. I've been there once, and while it's a nice tourist spot, I am not sure why anyone would want San Marino citizenship.

Good on San Marino, I prefer that than some European countries giving their citizenship to every Tom, Dick and Harry with minimal residency requirements and tenuous ancestry, you shouldn’t be able to get citizenship in any country just cause you have some great grandpappy, ridiculous.

The ban on dual citizenship is probably not enforced at all. Given how small the population is and how they are surrounded by Italy (and have the same exact culture as the neighbouring region of Emilia Romagna), im sure intermarriage with Italians is through the roof, so the number of people who are only citizens of San Marino is probably very small. Also whenever they travel, they have to deal with clueless border agents who have never heard of this micronation.
