Canarian here. With all due respect, you are mixing a lot of things in a wrong way. We are not protesting against tourist but the tourism model. You said "If you don't want this, just don't advertise it", yeah, like we decide that. We are protesting against OUR goverments. Saying that is pretty naive. In Canary islands, there was a growth of 3.9% in last years.... while locals are poorer every year. Tourist money go to the hotel owners (the majority of them aren't even spanish) and the few politicians who are bought to do nothing. Did you know that they are actually fining people who refuse to give up their homes for tourism? Yeah, look for it... A rent now is more than 60% - 70% of the salary we receive here on average. Our ecosystems are getting heavily damaged and I could go on for weeks... Saying that both sides have a point, where a point is I almost can not support my own life here vs If you dont want me to go don't advertise is infuriating man... And again, our protest are against our goverment and the model. I'm sorry if I sound rude, but the situation here is just unacceptable. Hotel workers have to live far away from hotels because they cant afford rents near the hotels (if there are rents in that areas for locals) and then, they go to wrok for 10 - 12 hours for minimum wage.... Situation is really complex and messed up.

I perfectly understand the anger of the local population. When tourism comes to an extreme that the local residents can't afford their rents or mortgages anymore because air B&B and similar agencies are moving up monthly rents so high that even the people that live on tourism can't get to the end of the month, something goes terribly wrong. Part of the staff in Mallorca are living in miserable conditions due to unaffordable housing. Local residents in Barcelona find no places on public transport to go to their work places or are constantly disturbed by masses of tourists in their neighbourhood. Of course, we are all tourists when we go abroad but the housing sector needs to be regulated and illegal renting cut off. People are legitimately fed up in all the major tourist areas.

Irish passport is way better. Right now Irish passport has visa free access to China, Russia and Iran. Furthermore Irish passport has more soft power than British one. They also enjoy freedom of movement within EEA countries.

Visa-free travel is nice (and is important for global mobility) but it’s still a privilege at the end of the day, and those policies can change. Entering your country (or countries) of citizenship is a *right* not a privilege, and a passport is merely a form of proof that entitles you to do so.

I’ve got Spain, UK and Australia(acquired in that specific order). Spain only allows the status of Dual Nationality with a limited set of countries but does not impede you having other passports. You only need to declare that you want to maintain the Spanish citizenship after you got a new citizenship (within 3 years)

When you naturalise, yes, you do have to inform all the nationalities you currently have - and even the ones you once had, but renounced to or that were revoked. If there is any discrepancies, Spain would block your naturalisation, for instance. But say if you already is Spanish and naturalise elsewhere, Spain wouldn't know about it. Some countries do require in theory that you communicate it or they have it in their constitution that, by obtaining another, you are automatically renouncing their citizenship. Be aware, though, that in certain cases, countries do send letters to the embassy of your "home country" to inform them of your naturalisation. But it hardly ever leads to anything and no action is taken by them.

@@pbubalo I’m not quite sure myself, so I’ll just give my personal idea of what happens: When you get to passport control and they scan the passport that you give the border control, it provides them with a profile on you, the profile has a bunch of things like the photos they take you on borders, your visas, etc, including all those I think there is a section for your second passport, which they can click and view. The reason I have come up with this is because I have had friends who were denied entering a country, or had problems because of their second citizenship, even though they have not presented their second passport. Kinda make sense?

I’m Spanish born in Algeciras Spain. I live in Australia & the Spanish Consulate is making it so complicated & close to impossible to renew my Spanish passport which expires in September 2024. I was born in Spain both my parents were Spanish & my grandparents & it keeps going. But because I live in Australia & I am an Australian citizen they don’t allow me to renew my Spanish passport, this is ridiculous & great injustice.

The lack of dual Citizenship in Austria 🇦🇹 is actually easy to understand when you know more , they are a none nato country most of Europe Union countries are they don’t want to have a situation where a dual Austrian German citizen gets arrested in Russia and that causes them problems since they are neutral often neutral countries don’t allow dual nationality like Austria and Singapore, both are neutral and they don’t want people to be a citizen of another country that has an alliance with a country like Russia or the United States , because to be honest having people with German citizenship that are also Russian or Belarus in my opinion is a potential security threat and they definitely shouldn’t be allowed to work in a government office since Russia sees Russian citizens as only Russian

3:05 I second this. Many countries also grant citizenship via descent (jus sanguinis). I was born in the U.S but I also have a Jamaican passport because both my parents were born in JA, and per the JA constitution entitles one to receive citizenship. This is just more roadblocks in the way of global mobility. Where you were born should not be the most significant thing, imo.

Argentina has some very generous waivers for their residency conditions. The residency period is waived for people who either marry an Argentine or give birth to one, in which case both parents can apply. Although you can apply immediately, there’s still infamous LatAm bureaucracy to deal with. When I qualified for citizenship in 2023, the time from application to grant was about seven months. No requirement to be in-country during the processing time. Technically speaking, a person would only have to be in Argentina for two days to get citizenship. One day to apply in-person with a lawyer, and another day months later to accept it in-person. It’s also worth mentioning that Argentina taxes worldwide income but only for physical residents. Pensions and disability payments are exempt.

Argentine citizenship cannot be renounced and cannot be revoked by the government, but Argentine courts can reverse the grant of citizenship for naturalized persons. This is rare and typically only happens in cases of fraud.

Most people wouldn't take out Irish Citizenship, or get an Irish passport, if it didn't include European union citizenship, or access to Britain through the common travel area. The British government are trying to curtail immigration, and the Irish government are giving out Irish citizenship, and passports like confetti at a wedding, thus allowing access to Britain. The C.T.A. may be reviewed. If the C.T.A. goes, there will be less demand for an Irish passport.

But if say Ireland joins Schengen and leaves the CTA then UK citizenship would be a good option . I'm Canadian, and applied for Irish citizenship through my Irish-born grandparent. I may also qualify for a British Ancestry Visa, as a grandparent of mine was born in England. I could use this to live in the UK and claim citizenship, but the Irish passport makes it pointless to get a UK passport. Irish citizenship gives you every right Brits enjoy in the UK, PLUS full freedom of movement in the EU, PLUS one of the best citizenship to travel the world with. Post-Brexit, the Irish passport makes UK citizenship irrelevant.

Been loving your videos Kis. Til adulthood I was solely British (for a couple years now I've also been Irish) - but also a Permanent Resident of Hong Kong, where I lived from zero to 18, and learned pretty solid Chinese (Mandarin). Many of my ethnic-Chinese friends from HK have both the Hong Kong Chinese passport and an Anglophone country passport, but if I wanted to get a Hong Kong passport myself and become a Chinese national, I would have to give up my other citizenships. Awful dilemma on paper but thankfully I'm not held back from too much, the worst part is having to tolerate queues at the border with the Mainland. Going in and out of HK itself works like a charm with my ID card. If one day China liberalises a lot more I'd want to become Chinese (too).
