@Thomas Cusack As a 500 rated player I can safely tell you that you don't usually get stalemated. However, you could be down a queen and 2 bishops and still somehow make a comeback and checkmate the opponent or take back equal material.

@Thomas Cusack Actually if they have under 20 seconds it will probably be a flag lol, they will accidentally hang pieces while trying to checkmate and there won't be enough time for either player to make a checkmate

@Thomas Cusack I've never met anyone at or above 1350~ that doesn't know how to checkmate with a rook/queen, yet none of them will resign if I have that kind of advantage.

The most common application I've seen is a wildly implausible story of how Eric and Aman were really mean to some fan they met in real life with "don't support these guys" at the end. This particular application is a trope subversion, using a compliment for the setup instead of the ridiculous story. Good meme usage. 8/10

Pins, traps, checkmate puzzles. Even try to look for sacs. That's what got me from 600 to 1200. Nobody below 900 sees checkmates unless they're really obvious, same with pins and especially traps. Everybody is looking for forks and skewers. Discovered attacks also do a lot of damage at that level. Just practice those things. This was 4 months ago, so hopefully you're around 1100-1200 now?
