Just to let you know crayons in the US are not toxic. They are just beeswax and some type of food grade dye. The only difference is how thick the wax is. Crayola tends to be thicker to stand up to schoolwork and hard children’s play. Roseart tend to be thinner for art projects and lighter work. The target audience is what you want. Crayola is the standard kids brand of crayons. Roseart is for old kids or adults. America cultivates bees for honey mostly but beeswax and bee pollen are byproducts that we found useful. Beeswax can be melted down for all sorts of things including the lost cast process where a single piece of wax is used to create a mold and you can copy that mold over and over, shaping metal sometimes you need to do a lost casting. Beeswax is useful in thousands of products that you may not be aware of.

Im from California, but to say you visited America when all you did was go to LA is kinda goofy. This also goes for the car they chose. A Mustang EcoBoost is not an accurate representation of an American car. Just because it has the Mustang badge doesn't mean it's a muscle car. The true American experience would be to do a road trip across the US, you cant experience America if you just stay in a big city. Things to do could be watching a sports game like baseball or football or going to some racing event like a drag race or NASCAR. Of course, you have to go to a gun range, but #1 dont go to an indoor range, and #2 dont go to a range in either California or New York, that's where everyone goes. If you're in California, visit one of the National Parks or Forests, also try In N Out or the local Mexican food. Theres a lot of things to do in the entirety of the US, i think its just funny when Europeans or other foreigners visit LA and label it as their America trip.

@BTinSF

@@leahmollytheblindcatnordee3586 People prefer large cities because in nearly all of them in Europe and many in the US, they are dense population centers and walkers' paradises where there's so much to see and do just depending on your feet, public transit and the occasional cab or Uber. LA is different. LA is vastly spread out with an almost irrelevant center. If they want that kind of city in California, they should come to San Francisco. Many times I've heard European visitors remark that to them it seems European because it IS one of those dense walking cities. It's hard for me to imagine the point of travel if you don't like cities. Almost all of any nation's cultural attractions, dining opportunities and everything else are in its cities. You can, I suppose, travel just to see the varied manifestations of nature, but to me that seems to be missing an awful lot that distinguishes one culture from another.

LA + San Diego are about 23 million people. California is about 39 million - a decently sized country. There is both a lot of wealth and a lot of poverty, it depends on the city and depends even more on the neighborhood. It would be dishonest to say those problems don’t exist; but they’re certainly not the full story. There is plenty to enjoy in California: enormous cities, beautiful nature, mild weather, diverse people, a huge and dynamic economy, delicious food, and tolerant attitudes. Cost of living is high but so are the salaries. There’s a reason more Americans have chosen to live there than anywhere else.

For some reason, California is the only state you have to compliment with conditions. Like, no one can say anything nice about it unless you put it down first. Meanwhile, we have certain states (you know who you are) making laws that allow companies to deny water breaks to construction workers during heatwaves and offer bounties for information on women seeking abortions.
@Anon54387
@Anon54387 27 күн бұрын
But as government regulates more and more, taxes more and more, increases energy costs more and more, all this is in danger. There is a reason businesses are leaving the state, and oddly Governor Brown accused Texas of poaching California businesses. California is DRIVING those businesses out, and Texas is one state it makes sense to move to. Try starting a business in this state, you'll see how difficult it is. OTOH, a family that had a dairy in this state moved their entire herd from California to Tennessee and went from struggling to thriving. Same herd, same people running, different tax and regulatory structure, and that made all the difference.
@Perfectly_Cromulent351
@Perfectly_Cromulent351 27 күн бұрын
@@Anon54387 businesses leave for Texas because Texas is anti-worker and anti-environmentalist. They basically give you free-rein to pollute and treat your workers like slaves. Just look at the bill that makes it so businesses don’t need to offer water breaks for construction workers. Even before the law, Texas led the nation in worker-related deaths from heatstroke. Tesla had something like 5x the amount of worker injuries as every other car manufacturer in the US combined. California started to crack down on them and instead of abiding by worker protection laws, Elon moved some production to Texas…and then came back to California because in-demand, specialist employees don’t want to live in Texas. Also, isn’t it funny how the narrative has been that Texas recruits businesses to leave other states, yet you never hear about how business start in Texas?

13:45 Those houses range from ~$4 - 15M. While the location is great, they are super tiny, and restricted on height due to local building codes, so they aren't worth as much as a bigger house that is located more inland. As for safety being that close to the water, the coast line doesn't face a lot of natural disaster risk. California has a ton of fault lines, resulting in a lot of earthquakes. However, these fault lines are mostly on land, and not in the ocean, so there isn't much of a tsunami risk. In fact, we're at more risk of tsunamis from Japan or Alaska than directly off our own coast. Hurricanes are extremely rare since the ocean current along the west coast runs north-to-south, bringing colder water down from Alaska and making it harder for warm-weather storms to form. We did just get hit by one this last year that came up from Mexico, but tbh, LA barely got rain, let alone a full storm surge. So, these houses are relatively safe.

WRT the vegetables tasting "plastic": remember that this was filmed in November, so most of the produce was shipped from far away, most likely South America. It was probably sitting in refrigerated warehouses, shipping containers and trucks for a shockingly long time as well, before it was put on display at the store. So while it technically counts as "fresh" produce, it is actually far from being that.

The layout thing is because it (Los Angeles) is newer. If you go to cities that are very old (by American standards) on the east coast, roads are twistier and there are little quirks everywhere. An ancient path worn by migrating deer and buffalo would in later centuries become toll roads that were paved in split logs, which only with the advent of automobiles would become public paved roads, and those paved roads would twist around historic properties. But the further west you go, the less history there is (as long as you ignore the fact that Native Americans have been there for millennia), and so cities are much more likely to be laid out in a strictly rectilinear fashion.

That was not too much syrup. It was too much breakfast but they seemed to enjoy it. Why such big cars? 1. Safety They are easier to see in heavy traffic. Small cars get lost from view. They withstand a crash with less damage than small cars. 2. Convenience Since things are so far apart many people try to do all their shopping in one trip. Large cars can hold the children, the groceries, the clothing, the plants for the garden or whatever is needed in this trip. 3. Comfort

A lot of breakfast places are open 24 hours. It’s because they are near hospitals or places that need to stay open. There are a couple of breakfast places near my local hospital which is crazy when doctors are off shifts. They literally just have time to grab a meal and go home to sleep that’s it. Don’t ask because i just know. Especially when they have the 72 hour on call shifts. Those are crazy. I did food deliveries to the hospital before to both doctors and patients. It was fricking crazy. The entire emergency department would order all at once and the orders filled the entire trunk of the SUV plus the back seat. Although I did get a nice tip out of it.

The neighborhood she was walking through to get to Target ( 17:19 ) was a very average neighborhood in Los Angeles. Many of the homes in established areas like this have citrus trees in their backyards - oranges, lemons, etc. Southern California, including the inland valleys, produces a good proportion of the country’s fruits and vegetables. California oranges are readily found in Publix grocery stores in the Southeast.

Breakfast for dinner is a big part of being American. At restaurants like Dennys you can have pancakes and eggs at 3 in the morning, I can’t even tell you how packed they are with people at that time in places like Miami. It’s very common to go to Dennys after they leave a night club or a party. As teenagers, it was the only place we were allowed to go at 3 am and wanted Hot Chocolate and your friends parents rather you go to a 24 hour place like that instead of keeping them up banging around in the kitchen. Me and my best friend could be found at Dennys in our pajamas, or sitting on the floor of a 24 hour pharmacy in our pajamas reading all the magazines. The night manager never cared as long as we bought something (usually it was lip gloss or candy) before we left. My ex husband was a cop and we would go every day at 2am to a Dennys when he got off his shift because he needed time to decompress from duty because he didn’t want to take the stress home. Lots of eggs over easy and hash browns for me during that marriage. I'm sorry I respond to so many videos, it’s just that you always pop up at the top of my feed and if I’m full of one thing it’s information. Can’t help myself! That was WAY too little syrup btw. Also, a strip mall is a small open mall where you can pull your car up right next to which store you want to go too and they’re filled with a bunch of small businesses. One strip mall could have example Tax Attorney, 3 different restaurants, a Pharmacy, a small electronics store, small clothing boutiques a Starbucks, dry cleaner, realtor. So quick one stop shopping all in one. You have them too ours are just very wide open, with tons of parking and usually a MdDonalds or something in the back of the parking lot.

It’s normal for restaurants to serve coffee like that because of the fact that coffee is normally free refills and we love coffee in the morning and on the side of the table there’s normally like creamer, sugar, and condiments. And also you can get more than just pancake syrup. They also have blueberry syrup, apricot syrup, you know stuff like that available too. You can also get sugar-free.

As some others have said, venture out of the big cities and try elsewhere. The valley of California from Fresno north of Sacramento is one of the biggest vegetable/citrus growers of the US. We feed half of the nation in those areas (we even supply Japan with a lot of rice). November is not the season for looking for good fruits/vegetables. During the growing season, if you venture out of the big cities, you will see local farmers with fruit stands by the side of the road where things are picked fresh. After watching this video, I was in the produce section of Walmart talking to another lady (yes, the small talk). I told her about this video as we were looking at the tomatoes. There are these obviously hot house grown tomatoes that are waxy, pinkish looking that you just know, they don't have a lot of flavor. And they had a Mexico sticker on them. Then right next to them, there were these bright red juicy looking tomatoes on the vine. You could smell the difference. I can't think of one person who doesn't agree that home grown tomatoes are far superior than most you get at Walmat/Target. (maybe not so much at Whole Foods).
@BTinSF
@BTinSF 29 күн бұрын
You're eating blackberries and strawberries in NOVEMBER for Pete's sake. Almost no kind of vegetable is in season in November. A few fruits, like tree fruits (apples, peaches, pears) may be. So you are eating stuff that was picked unripe in Chile or somewhere and shipped thousands of miles to the US. No, it doesn't taste that great but it is what it is if you want foods out of season. I suggest you try a canteloupe or other melon from the Colorado River Valley or some strawberries from Salinas or oranges from southern CA or Arizona or almost any kind of greens from the Imperial Valley or tomatoes from artisanal farms all over America when they are in season. I've been to Greece. I enjoyed the food there but I didn't find it overwhelmingly better than the best of what's available in the US.

"Mustang-Camaro . . . same car" Oh boy. Ford and GM would sure beg to differ. "The grass is always greener . . ." Not in California in summer. It's very brown. California has really superior strawberries but the season is late Spring: May/June. And LA may be a little too far south to get the best ones which come from the Salinas Valley in central California. The homeless and drug users and other unsightly stuff are mostly confined to certain areas of the downtown parts of cities. This video appears to be in the suburb of Orange County. You aren't likely to see them there. I am in downtown San Francisco bugt I've been away for almost 6 months and I'm very surprised that the city looks a lot cleaner with fewer such people than when I left. But I know where they are: The City seems to have somehow forced nearly all of them into the one neighborhood known as the Tenderloin. Unfortunately, this is adjacent to an area frequented by tourists so a lot of tourists take a wrong turn or walk in the wrong direction and come upon the scenes of degradation. Then they badmouth the whole city.

At that restaurant, it was artificial corn syrup. The 100% pure maple syrup is richer and more flavorful and a bit more expensive, but not too pricey and sometimes is found at other restaurants. I can tell the difference because the 100% pure maple syrup never, ever, ever comes in that big pour bottle. It's always in a labeled container to prove quality.

Some AMERICANS drink black coffee and some add milk or cream in various flavors. Can we agree? Pancakes need a lot of syrup because it is a stack of 5 or more pancakes and they are thick and fluffy and absorb lots of syrup.

I ate breakfast for dinner just tonight, but I didn't make pancakes. I had fried eggs, sausages and toast. It's like a treat to have breakfast for dinner occasionally. A strip mall is a row of businesses all attached to one another in a long strip where each store has its own entrance, as opposed to a traditional mall where the stores all all inside of a single enclosed building and the stores are usually only accessible from within the mall building. It's the warehouse stores where you buy in bulk that you need to have a membership to, like Costco, BJ's, or Sam's Club. Target is like a slightly upscaled version of a Walmart.

Pancakes is a whenever you want pancakes thing. I drink my coffee black, no sugar, no cream. We would love to see some of Portugal, Andre. Target got its start out west. It's more of a thing than Walmart there. No membership needed. I think the huge cars/trucks are strange too. When you get a salad in the states, it's more than likely going to be made with iceberg lettuce. It just does not have any flavor on its own. There are other greens you can make your own, much better tasting, salads with.

I have lived most of my life growing up and living in the area just Southwest of downtown Los Angeles called the South Bay. This includes all the Beach Cities from LAX to El Segundo to El Prado to Manhattan Beach to Hermosa Beach to Redondo Beach to Torrance Beach that butts up against the Palos Verdes Peninsula. As for wealthy living there is no doubt that all those Beach Cities are incredibly expensive. I had the opportunity to live in Lunada Bay on the Peninsula and found out that the Palos Verdes Peninsula to Rolling Hills Estates is the most expensive place in California to purchase a home and live there. I always felt as though if you didn’t drive a very expensive car the PV Police would arrest you for vagrancy. I sold my old house and bought me a nice Mercedes convertible and rented a Guest House on an estate a stones throw from the cliffs of Luanda Bay. Most beautiful place. Most beautiful sunsets. Most expensive place ever. And it’s mostly residential as there are no large stores at all. So I guess the moral of the story is to live in Southern California these days is horrendously expensive to do anything. I’m old, retired, re-married and living about fifteen miles from the house I grew up in - Lomita. But this is the land of opportunity. I retired from a very large metropolitan Infrastructure agency at a managerial position and I married well. There surely are a lot of problems out there and I certainly don’t have all the answers but we have to something more than what we do now. We need to stop focusing on every kid going on to higher Education, which is great because we need the scientists and engineers and etc. but we also need higher skills level training. Give kids an opportunity to work in fields like maintenance mechanics. Jet engine mechanics. Or Woodworking, machine shop lathes to mills and CNC controlled machining. 3d Printing, etc, etc, etc. not every kid should have to go to an expensive college to have a good, safe, rewarding and amazing career. With manufacturing jobs coming back to the U.S. and already having a healthy service industry this will be good to go back to having everyday things made in America again. I’ll add one quick note. The whole South Bay Area gets an afternoon into evening wind off the ocean that keeps our air just a bit fresher than inland. This helps during the Santa Ana winds which bring hot dry desert winds that make LA miserable in the summer. Usually the Santa Ana’s don’t last long, usually a week or two. Hope that helps a little concerning the area they were in. And yes a Mustang could be a muscle car depending on what’s under the hood. And, Ford owners and Chevy owners would quite disagree about the potatoe/patatoe analogy. We like our cars.

European pancakes are often thin, in the US they’re thick and fluffy and the serving is either three or six and the pancakes absorb the syrup so you need to put a lot on. Cameros and Mustangs are both sporty “muscle cars” but most people prefer one or the other and aren’t considered interchangeable and people are usually devoted to one or the other. They are definitely not the same car, one is made by Chevrolet the other by Ford. Even if you don’t have many children, your children might be on a sports team, or some other activity where you are also driving other children so it’s convenient to have a larger vehicle. Considering a large amount of our fruits and vegetables are grown in California, if what she ate tasted “plastic” it was either out of season so imported from Mexico or Chile, or it wasn’t really market fresh, the restaurants often order produce from a food service provider. The houses are farther back from the ocean that even in a big storm waves aren’t probably going to reach the houses. It could be different of the east coast because of hurricanes. You only need a membership card at Costco or Sam’s Club.
