10 June 2024 - Sara Fantini enjoys the biggest moment of her career to date as she wins the women’s hammer throw - Italy’s eighth gold of an incredible championships for the host nation.
The heat was truly on in the 400m races. The favourite in the men’s race, Belgium’s Alexander Doom, beats Brit Charles Dobson and Dutchman Bonevacia. In a closely contested women’s race, Natalia Kaczmarek triumphs over Ireland’s Rhasidat Adeleke and Lieke Klaver from the Dutch team.
France’ Alexis Miellet wins gold in only his fifth steeplechase ever, and his compatriot Djilali Bedrani makes it a France 1-2.
Successful night for the Swiss team as well: Angelina Moser takes the gold in the women’s pole vault, and Timothé Mumenthaler in the men’s 200m, with another Swiss, William Reais, coming third.

Day 2 of thanking the European Championships for preparing the only good highlights package in all of track and field 🙏.

Except what would it cost them to give us the list of runners before each race? Also, why the spoiler at the start of each highlight, announcing that so and so qualified for the final?

@@scrumpymanjack I'm not sure what you mean by the spoiler, but the start list I can concede. It's a small gripe for me personally though. (Nmnd I just noticed what you mean. Tbh I don't think it's a problem. This IS a highlights package after all, and I already know who's likely to advance from these heats, I just wouldn't want them to do something like this for the final).

@@scrumpymanjackGood spot. I also notice the previous days highlights (at least for Day 2 and Day 3) did not include the heats and the semi-finals. (Day 1 highlights included only event finals too. So iSay 4 hights os an improvement)

@@jordanjordannis2258 Frankly, I'm grateful for it but I was just pointing out simple things that would make it way better. By the spoiler, I'm talking about the text that appears at the bottom of the screen when a race starts telling you the result. eg. warholm race begins, text tells me immediately that Warholm is into the final. I would rather not be told.

Doom is chasing the White/Asian/Hispanic record of Jeremy Wariner of the US, who ran 43.45 in 2007 in Osaka. He needs 44.01 to break into the all time top ten times for that category. Wariner owns all 10. The crazy thing about Doom is that he doesn’t even seem out breath after running these incredible times. Tortu is baffling, running 20.1 in semis looking easy then 20.4 in the final. He is the Italian, Asafa Powell lol

To think the Swedish man Erik Erlandsson wasn’t going to be allowed to run in the final even though he qualified for it, and he ended up 4th. Imaginge what he may have done with a better track. And he’s only 20 years old and this being his championships debut, that’s insane.

some athletes reach their potential at a very young age. nothing says that he will progress much. I'm thinking of Christophe Lemaitre but there are others, who did his best times when he was 20/21 years old. for this E.Erl athlete nothing is guaranteed, maybe you just attended the best championships he will ever do.

@@steph653absolutely that’s true but he did a PB in both the trial heat and then again in the semifinal, and he’s had a lot of injuries from what I can tell, the future is unsure but if he continues to progress like this the future looks very good. I just think it’s cool to see the new young faces coming from Sweden, given that they haven’t had any good sprinters in a while to say the least. Nora Lindahl also did a very good result for being her first championships and being only 19.

After Cram and Hutchings stellar commenting on the Diamond League, this team is a bit of a letdown.

That second french runner pulled the stop before he reached the finishing line. Fortunately for him he still maintained his second placing. Stupid thing to do.

Yeah... Another issue is an Italy runner block that French runner from passing him using his hand... That should be a DQ...
