As an African American who is very much connected to African Spirituality as well as a practitioner, I have witnessed firsthand how they are treated by their own people in their own country. It’s actually disheartening and disgusting. I would never go back to Christianity! Africa needs to let people practice what they want in peace. It’s absolutely insane and ridiculous how they treat anyone who doesn’t subscribe to the spirituality that’s was forced upon them. I’m blessed to be around a spiritual tribe who prides themselves on good character who still thrive above and beyond the ignorance.

Many Africans actually don't realise that the Bible is our history written by melanated people. The Bible even describes the Messiah as melanated, being as dark as burnt bronze, which is very dark. The Bible took place in Africa! It's because our ancestors rejected The Most High Yahuah of the Bible for this so called spirituality. That is why The Most High was angry and left us for chastisement ie slavery and colonialism. Go read the Bible like in Deuteronomy 28, Isaiah 19, Jeremiah and you will see why. Europeans simply took the Bible scrolls, translated, tampered with it by changing names and created a false religion called Christianity and non melanated messiah called Jesus. Just like they changed Ancient Egyptian history. We are the people of the Bible!

It's interesting, the choices that are made today, with so much knowledge of how things came to be. They really did a number on the world. If you look at Christianity in particular, the most oppressed and dismantled people are the most hardcore followers. Black people, Latin people, Irish people. All the while the people who "introduced" it are abandoning Christianity.

Christianity came to Nigeria in the 15th century through Augustinian and Capuchin monks from Portugal. The first mission of the Church of England was, though, only established in 1842 in Badagry by Henry Townsend. Standard Yoruba has its origin in the 1850s, when Samuel A. Crowther, the first native African Anglican bishop, published a Yoruba grammar and started his translation of the Bible. Native African religions are centered on ancestor worship, the belief in a spirit world, supernatural beings and free will (unlike the later developed concept of faith). ATR is the maintenance of African culture and its main feature is loyalty to the ancestors and the accompanying rituals that express this loyalty. Prior to the advent of Christianity and Islam, there was African Traditional Religion (ATR) in the Nigerian State. ATR had close collaborative relationship with virtually every aspect of communal living; economic, political and social. Islam was introduced to what is now Nigeria during the 11th century via trade routes with North Africa and the Senegalese basin, and it was the first monotheistic Abrahamic religion to arrive in Nigeria. Jeremiah 16:19-21 KJV O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit. **YOU PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW WHO YOU ARE.** BUT YOU ARE NOT ISRAELITES YOU ARE HAMITES AND ALWAYS WILL BE.**

UMvelinqangi is a Nguni word which translates to "the Most High" or "Divine Consciousness"; that is considered the source of all that has been, that is and all that ever will be. UMvelinqangi, contrary to widespread belief[citation needed] is not personified. Umvelinqangi is most accurately described as the creator of all things, not male, not female, not both, not a spirit but indescribable. Ukukhothama (meditation) was a widespread practice prior to westernisation among the Zulu clan. Ukukhothama was seen as a way of attaining ubunye noMvelinqangi (oneness with the divine conscious). This practice is primarily the reason why the amaZulu clan survived through the ages without any form of western/modern resources.

Black people were jews in Europe at the time of Christ, time of Paul. In 70 AD the last Jews ran away down in Africa. When we read the Bible we see that it makes more sense understanding that Bantus are part of Israel and that only when Christ returns, they will be saved. True christianity was not to colonizing people. Anyway the modern christianity we know today is not what Christ taught. That and Islam their goal was to keep descendents of Israel oblivious from their identity, and also to keep sinning so to stay in curse.

I'm a Nigerian Christian who believes whole heartedly that we must respect and capture our traditional cultural practices. But you CANNOT be a Christian practitioner and a Ifa practitioner for example, as salvation and walk demands different opposite things for each. Christianity requires faith in Jesus solely, and reliance on the holy spirit for conviction. That said, even if one is convicted in Christ, that does not mean that respect for traditional religion ideas around environment, nature, ancestral RESPECT (not worship), scholarship, history, and arts cannot be promoted and valued. I mean, in Nigeria, we go enjoy Masquerades at Christmas with no hesitation, and those masquerades are usually at the shrine doing lord knows what before they come perform, so...

@fistandpen2505 Christianity came to Nigeria in the 15th century through Augustinian and Capuchin monks from Portugal.

Thank u for being the only decent person in the comment section. These peoples hate for Europeans & the African slave trade ( that was caused by Africans themselves) makes them very backwards. At times like these we should focus on how to move forward to better ourselves and our continent not focus on the past. Christianity was in Africa long before Europeans stepped their foot in Africa. And some Africans got introduced to it by European missionaries. Acting like Christianity belongs to Europe just bc they painted Jesus in their image is not only stupid but false.

That sad thing is that colinialism has so thoroughly brainwashed Africans on the continent most of them have no idea that there are traditional philosoohies that teach about the afterlife and morality. The sister said she would go to Sikhism because it believes all religions lead to god. Yet all over the continent African cultures knew the same think. Kenya is right next door and the Kikuyu had a knowledge of the creator. But they were persecuted and tortured to accept christianity. Now we think that only the Bible or other non African traditions have a means of communicating with the creator. How sad. At the end of the day, do you. But as Africans you should at least have a basic knowledge and understanding of what your ancestors knew of the spiritual world and life as well as morality.

Remember the Catholics put a cloak of whiteness over the living God. Had the Pope's son pose for the portrait of Jesus. Which He said not to do. No other God before Me. He did condemn homosexuality. It is stated. Don't turn them away but condemn the lifestyle. He will not allow sin to enter in. Jesus spoke life but He also spoke of hell more than anyone else in the bible. No man cometh unto the Father but by Me.

No indigenous cultures waited for the birth of religion and its biblical texts to ask questions of its origins.
