Serena says people don't like her because she's black. Case and point Osaka also mixed race who everyone loves because she's so humble and gracious and doesn't scream while playing to gain an unfair advantage. Serena is maybe the greatest female tennis player all time but we lacks class

@Lloyd Gittens Because she is black is on "team Africa". If I´m white I´m "team Europe". What a crazy thing. And I think Osaka never was in any Africa´s country. Black people is in everywhere. Here in the Netherlands we have a lot of Suriname´s people, never we think they are from Africa, actually there are from Latin American.

Naomi is impressive in many ways, and she is learning from every match. The first set against Plyscova was one of the best i have ever seen. In the final she was extremely nervous, but managed to pull it of. Now she knows that she can win matches from behind, even if she does not play her best tennis. This is going to be petty complicated for the other players. Naomis potential seems endless. With this coach and hard work she will be the dominant player for the next decade. I hope and believe that off court she will stay this likeable and funny person...

@ Eurosport ; These Highlights of the match along with the comments of the announcers are biased. If was not aware of the actual score, it would appear that Petra Kvitova was more in control of the match and would win, but actually it was Petra who was fighting to stay with Naomi Osaka's level most of the match, with the 'ebbs and tides' mostly attributed to Naomi, except the mental drop after not converting the three match points in the second set, until Naomi recovered at the beginning of the third set achieving the early break of serve at 1-1, never relinquishing the control. In the first set alone, Naomi had more winners which were hardly shown. Petra had difficulty getting winners except through using her few drop shots. Naomi's backhand and forehand matched up well with most everything Petra attempted. Naomi was the aggressor, in shots, in position, hitting the ball early, low, with angle, and missing sometimes. Petra did manage to keep her mental control to continue to fight and hold serve. Then in the tie break, Naomi lifted her level just slightly without errors, winning it 7-2. Then continuing to control the match more with a break of serve and at 5-3 held three match points! Then Petra stepped up, and Naomi seemed to begin a drop, which led to a significant mental breakdown though she tried to regain after loosing Petra's service game in her serve at 5-4, but continued to slide loosing five games in a row including her own serve twice loosing the second set 5-7 and Petra winning her opening serve of the third set 1-0. Then Naomi regained at 0-15 to win her serve making it 1-1 and broke Petra making it 2-1 Naomi, then winning her serve making it 3-1. The match continued with each holding their serve, though Naomi attempted to win Petra's serve at 5-3, then finished the set and match on her serve 6-4 authoritatively, with the score Game-15, and match score 7-6, 5-7, 6-4. Note: Presumably Naomi and Sasha will have much to praise, discuss for her growth and improvement. However, now as WTA #1, looking at the other women there are not any of them who could play well enough, consistently enough to defeat Naomi when she is playing this well. Imagine how much more she can achieve and be above with even more consistency and development?!! Similarly the Eurosport broadcasters, producers and announcers need to improve more so.These highlights need much improvement to show the proper view, perspective and perception of the match and the commentators need some adjustment to their comments in the future broadcasts, but then We are familiar with these two and their biases aren't We?!! Sincerely, :-)

I wonder why Naomi couldn't get any sponsorship in US when she started playing. She's been living in US since she was 3yrs old and again a US national at birth through her Haitian immigrant dad's US citizenship status! She would have been playing as a US citizen of Haitian & Japanese origin if this lady had been fairly treated! After all Michael Chang, a US citizen of fully Asian ethnicity played for US! A perfect lesson learned!

She’s a human being whose parents are Japanese and Haitian. She’s mixed, for sure and that’s beautiful. No skin colour is better or worse than another. Humans belong to one single race: homo sapiens sapiens. The last different race were Neanderthals, but they’re extinct. Please stop referring about “race”, it’s scientifically untrue. As for culture, every single person may choose (or not) his own community.

Osaka plays an amazing tennis. It is just a shame that she even doesn’t speak her own language ( Japanese). For a lot of Japanese, she isn’t japanese, and even my wife thinks the same ( my wife is Japanese). The reason number one, Osaka don’t speak Japanese or just a few words. Don’t think there is something racist behind that. Japanese are very patriotic and proud of their culture. For example, I have a friend, and both of the parents are portugues but he doesn’t speak Portuguese...so for me, he isn’t portugues. Same for Osaka ( even if the father isn’t Japanese, she has the Japanese passport so she must have to be fluent in Japanese...but that’s not the case)

@newtonfirefly3584
@newtonfirefly3584 5 жыл бұрын
@ X X ; Pathetic?! YES! What is pathetic to You that Your refer to? This match is GRAND! The level of play, competition, battle, fight & struggle [mostly each within themselves], energy and strategy are all Wonderful, exciting and FANTABULOUS! The pathetic aspects are the comments by the usual plethora of "Social Media Troll Ignoramus" Types. Here as usual in the tennis videos, most comments are from people who have "their favorite(s)" and are biased, prejudiced and blinded to think, see, view, perceive and have perspective without clarity and balance. Then add those who make statements about the players, their play, attributes of their game, style, strokes, strategy attempting to convey in a knowledgeable manner and portray themselves as someone with some expertise, but through which they actually reveal how lacking they are. It becomes obvious to those with some actual knowledge of the sport, game, competition how much unbalanced opinions and nonsense is stated though some are players, all convey how poor their level of tennis is actually. The simplest of coaches and club pros know far more than any of these folks. Also, certainly these social media comments will not be viewed nor read by anyone important, so are meaningless, ineffective and useless except to those who enjoy portraying themselves as someone of tennis expertise [there are many video channels of similar people, sometimes who are more knowledgeable, but always reveal there lacking too]. Actually, there are many who are hired as announcers and commentators on radio and TV who are also lacking significantly but they are better than these folks even when they give their opinions and views which lack good balanced, proper basis, they still generally are not so biased. What is actually more pathetic are the Social Media comments that are bout race, ethnicity, hatred, and other similar related topics. Currently most of them are about Serena and Venus Williams with extensions to any player that has dark skin tone or color/colour who can be classified or categorized as 'Black' [by anyone for any reason]. All of them are lacking basic knowledge of science, biology, physiology, 'race', ethnicity and similar subjects and topics. Some go so far to make ridiculous, nonsense claims, statement about drug use, abuse, misuse, transsexuals, trans-genders, testing and similar subjects and topic, all based upon lack, incorrect and misinformation. These often expand into many different biases, prejudice, bigotry, 'racist', statements, claims and comments including false statements that are actually slander! These are not only pathetic they are inconsiderate, inappropriate, distasteful, disgusting, appalling, terrible, horrible and horrific! Additionally, the number of horrible, horrific, disgusting appalling language [cuss words and similar] often seen is a significant sign of low level minds, thoughts, views, perspectives and perceptions of those writing these comments in a public forum as if they can use such 'street' - 'gutter' type of talk, just because they can because there is no checking nor censoring. [Though sometimes videos are taken off this site for other reasons, seemingly and usually for reasons of agenda, 'political', propaganda or other opposition the owners choose.] For tennis, We mostly see these biased for Serena, Roger, Rafa, some for Novak and Venus, and various other favorite(s) then those against them too. Most of those positing pro-Naomi often are actually pro-Serena, pro "Black", but few actually pro-Naomi [thus far (maybe after this win it will change somewhat, for and against)]. Also saw many pro-Petra comments which were biased against Naomi too, but not actually anti-Naomi [perhaps now there will be, since she defeated the two top Czech players in succession] (we will see, though not that much hate has been shown from Czech supporters, and hope this will continue only to be imbalanced, bias comments without any hate at the worst) Oh, another common pathetic aspect is comments that state any negative about another as "hate". This exists on various types of videos and not limited to tennis, sports or other competitions, just an improper, misuse and abuse of the extreme. My hope is that at least One writer will think and consider their comments more before writing, and especially before posting perhaps via reviewing prior. Sincerely, :-) Note: This year alone listening to AO radio who have Commentators: Bojana Bobusic, Chris Bowers, Simon Cambers, Jill Craybas, Jenny Drummond, Richard Evans, Craig Gabriel, Mark Hlawaty, Kate Kearns, Peter Marcato, Nick McCarvel, Linda Pearce, Steve Pearce and Chanda Rubin. The three women, former WTA professionals Bojana [Aus], Chanda [USA] and Jill [USA] (best and most complete) were the best, most accurate, most informative, best analysts of the players, match play and points from the group with the next best being Matt Cronin, a radio announcer from the USA visiting Melbourne, Australia, often broadcasting many GS and other big tennis tournaments [ATP Masters, WTA Primer events] who participated most days as a guest in the first week then Chris Bowers who is a seasoned Eurosport and BBC announcer and commentator. All of them are relatively pleasant and some are very funny, witty and humorous [especially the "Midnight Madness"]. The other females seem the least knowledgeable, while the other males are often decent and though apparently club players themselves, sometimes lack balance and correct knowledge of past and present in conveying their opinions.
